I don't know how big a hd you can get for the mac. but if its big enough and you want it more comvienent then go the internal. if you don't care and if the external is way bigger and you think you need that and don't care about the slight inconvience then get external. mostly your preference between size and convience. unless you can get an internal one big enough. but if the computer is old and goes down the external you can just plug in to any computer and have it work and an internal specific to that computer youwould loss it all unless you paid to get it transfered off the one specifically for that model computer
