I'm not 100% sure what you're asking here, but I'll assume you're asking if this has recovery software on it that helps with lost data. There is software on it, but its intention is to automatically copy data that might be on your main computer drive or any other drive you have connected to your computer. You basically pick the folders that you want to be backed up and it will automatically copy those folders and their contents onto this drive. If something goes wrong with this drive, causing you to lose the data on it, there isn't anything here that will recover that data.

Please try again later.If you are dealing with extremely critical files of an extremely important nature, the only way to insure they are never 'lost' and/or the 12 TB unit fails is to pay a monthly cloud subscription fee. I don't know if WD offers a monthly cloud subscription fee. You can Google it, and WD may have an auto backup feature. I'm not sure if it is automatic with WD specifically, but there is software available that will automatically backup any hard drive you specify.
