Yes, Xbox 1 supports third party external hard drives to be used to serve as either the main storage or backup storage. I know this, because I am currently using (2) 4TB seagates on both of my xbox 1's and they work perfectly fine. I have over 90 games, and its barely over 40% full. As long as the external drive has a USB connection, you will be able to connect it to the xbox to format the drive to work with the xbox.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It works very well with the Xbox one . I had one odd thing. The Xbox will only format it from the one back port. But once it is formatted any of the usb ports recognize the drive.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. You must format the drive first with a pc to be NSTF. Quick Format will work. Then you will need to format it on the Xbox itself. Took about 5 minutes total time. Games run smoothly off of it.
