Not sure from a WD prospective, but it shouldn't matter if it stays plugged in. I try to put a couple of small blocks under the drive so there is air space around it let it pass on whatever heat it accumulates. But the best people to ask is the manufacturer !
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You should have no problem except your electric bill. These don't use much power. I have a 1/2 TB that is on constantly to record OTA digital TV. It's always on and is quiet and cool. Check the power and temp ratings to see if airflow is an issue.
