Why was a halogen light used for the light inside of the microwave Instead of LED? It becomes very hot on top of the microwave that extends past the cabinet. It is exposed to area that is touched when going to overhead cabinet. Hot with just door open null

In response to changing the halogen for a LED. Whirlpool says you can not use a LED bulb where they built for a halogen. I wish I could. That would be a quick easy fix.

Kitchen Aid sells the same unit under their brand name and it does have LED lights. Here's quote from their web site...but you'll pay considerably more for it.

I am guessing that you could swap out the halogen bulbs for LED's yourself.

In response to it being old technology. This is a new unit that was just released about 3 months ago. I agree that new technology should have been used. Lowes had just put up the display and had to order it.

Probably it may be old assembled unit. Now a day manufactures use LED technology.
