Not normal. However, Whirlpool designed this range to meet the maximum allowable surface temperature of 152 degrees. So if you call a technician to test the temp and it is less then 152 degrees, Whirlpool will say sorry, the range is "operating as designed". I found out our test was done incorrectly, and their result was 140 degrees. They said, you guessed it, "operating as designed". When tested correctly by a certified electrician the surface temperature was 155 degrees! Whirlpool will do nothing to resolve this issue. Ask me how I know... Why doesn't Whirlpool warn consumers that this range will get HOT! Deceptive practice.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No this is not normal with the range I purchased. The oven door handle should never get hot. the top will get warm and the door will get warm as will most ranges I have had. I would check with the manufacturer about this problem.
