It's a safety issue and a building code requirement. It comes with a floor safety bracket where the rear foot slides into the bracket to prevents it from tipping over if pulled down on the front, but it still pulls out to clean behind it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is just a precaution - I am able to leave mine without fastening it so I can also pull it out to clean. Just make sure that it is level correctly and you should be fine. Just know that it all depends on how you use it especially if you have children then I recommend fastening it in for safety reasons. No small children in my house so I think it will be fine but I may come up with another solution so I can fasten it up and be more secure.
