I have both an iPad 4 and an iPad Air so I compared the tear-off film from the iPad air protector. It is very close the same height but the air is around 3/8 inch narrower on either side so you would have a small exposed area on both sides if us use this. It does cover the entire active display area as well as the front camera.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought the ipad air and the zagg cover just a few days before the annoucement of the new ipad air 2. I returned the ipad to Best Buy without any problem at all, but once the shield was used I couldn't return that. I was bummed that I spent money on something I couldn't use. But I thought I would just carefully remove the glass shield before returning the ipad. I did and then placed it carefully on the back of the shield package. I thought I didn't have anything to lose. When I got the new ipad air 2 I put it on the ipad and and it adhered just perfectly!!

But it is best to have Best Buy Staff apply the shield to your device, for if there are any mistakes during application, the store will retry at no additional expense. You try and you mess it up, you're done. So take your iPad4 to the store. I must share that the Best Buy staff does a really good job applying the shields.
