• The keyboard comes with a charging chord and does need to be charged separately- the iPad will not charge the keyboard

• It comes with a charger cable that you need to charge separately from the ipad. I charge it whenever i have to charge the ipad, if necessary. If you read the directions that came with it, it will tell you exactly when you need to charge it. Very easy to use
