This device uses power from an existing wired doorbell previously installed. Existing wired doorbells uses 110v (U.S. power) which is supplying power to a transformer which reduces power to lower voltage which supplies lower volts to chimes and doorbell button at door(s). If no previous installed wired doorbell is available, purchase of a complete (transformer included) wired doorbell will need to be purchased and installed which at that point you would use the Zmodo in place of doorbell button.
