    Useless protection

    I don’t see what the point in geeksquad protection is other than to protect your screen maybe. I had my laptop for only a month when just regular plugging in and unplugging of the power cord lead to the outer metal cover of the male connector that you plug into the laptop came off and got stuck in the power port. Bestbuy said they would charge me to fix this issue.

    Not worth the money when you have to schedule an appointment just to leave the product with them and then wait up to a month for repair. I don't know of anyone that can be without their laptop for even days, let alone weeks. Very dissatisfied with this purchase. They don't mention any of this when they sell you the plan. Also, they said i'd receive the details of the plan to my email after purchase, but i never did.

    I truly can’t recommend this service. Laptop bought new 2 months ago for covid school for my 5 yo. Zoom camera went out. It will take 4 weeks to fix. That’s not really acceptable when it’s basically in use daily. My only other option is to buy another laptop and then possibly return this one. The only reason to choose Best Buy is for service. Now there is no reason.

    Geek squad is very rude and unwilling to offer any advice unless you spend money. Even a simple question that requires no touching of computer they refuse to answer unless you pay for it.

    I feel bad, but I was receiving an error on my laptop and the geek squad couldn't figure it out so they told me they would replace my laptop. However, I got my laptop on sale so they wanted to charge me the extra money for the new laptop. I called Lenovo and got a protection plan with them instead. They fixed my laptop. It just wasn't updating properly. Disappointed in Geek Squad.

    Bought Lenovo laptop which came with 1 year manufacturers warranty, which had same coverage as Geek squad. Was led believe from the ad, geek squad was a second year. NOT SO.

    Bought laptop for sister (in Florida). I came back to MD and she had some issues so I told her to take it to Best Buy, Geek Squad. She called me and said they wanted $40 to help. She refused and left.

    I bought this Dell two years ago, and it no longer works. Unfortunately, I didn’t get extended warranty because I was sure it would last at least a good three years. I took it to Geek Squad, and it would cost more than the laptop to repair it.

    Perfect your stuff, the accidental does and will happen. But note that if you return the item you will get a prorated money back, not the full amount so they rob you!

    The guy at squad simply said he cannot work on older laptops. These things they do not explain before getting you signed up and this service is not worth paying that much if nothing gets done because of disqualification.

    I was upsold the coverage. Now 1.5 years later need to use it, of course, it is the biggest hassle and I keep getting a laptop "repaired" but it comes home and is still broken but worse. No offer to replace the broken laptop and it seems they are just trying to outwait the protection plan. Wish I had saved the money to put towards a new laptop.

    Internet was not done in the store, I've tried on 4 occurances to remote into Geek Squad, unable to get an agent, always receive a message long wait time.

    Was a waste of money for me. I never had to use it. With that being said, I must admit, that the Geek square is exceptional. I have been a best buy customer for many years and I love their work and dedication.

    Don't buy the warranty.

    Warranty cost 1/3 of the price of the item. Upon bringing it in for warranty repair, they did not even look at the item, and are sending it in to the manufacturer, and quoted a 4-6 week turnaround. This is nearly useless, kid won't have her Chromebook back until the school year is over. Also note that most of the reviews are from people who didn't have to use the warranty, because free points.
