I purchased this kindle to replace my mother’s one year old device that stopped working. Best Buy’s protection plan is great and provided me this at no cost.
My mom loves to read and the ability to increase the letter size is vital as her vision isn’t great. She can also check her emails and Facebook activity on this.

Absolutely the most cost-effective way to watch Netflix or read a book in bed or at the coffee shop. However, there is no way to buy the ad-free version from BB (I asked Amazon). It's still a good deal but add $15 to the price if you don't want idle broadcast adds from Amazon.

Hello Jcolond! Thank you so much for your review of your Fire HD 8 tablet! I am glad you are enjoying the device! As you stated, this device is sold with lock screen ads called "Special Offers". And while Best Buy does not offer the product without these Special Offers at the higher price, you are able to pay a one time fee through your Amazon profile Devices page by clicking to Remove Special Offers. This will allow you to have the lock screen ads removed permanently under your profile and device. We have these in place to allow for the highest discount available to keep this aggressively value priced. However, we understand that not everyone will want to keep these active on their lock screen. Thanks again for your time and feedback and hope you have a terrific day!

Not a bad tablet, if you want a cheap one

This Amazon Fire won't outshine an iPad, and it's not as good an e-reader as an e-ink Kindle, but for a cheap tablet, it's not bad. Most annoying feature is the easily-bumpable power button, so you might want to buy a cheap case for this.

I needed to upgrade my old kindle and the new one was easy to pick up where I was before. I'm not very technical and it was easy to continue my use of my kin.

Replaces my 2018 Fire tablet. This one has 3 times the storage. Easy to navigate, fast speed. Perfect size. Good value.
I would recommend this to a friend

This is my first kindle. It works far better than an app on my phone, but it's still not a paper book as far as I am concerned. It is, however, easier to read in the evening. I'm still getting used to it.
I don't foresee using it for anything other than for e-books
