    this is a quality product made by apple I've had other ones not made by apple and they failed I've been using this for 2 months or more works as intended

    The product works with a catch. I wanted to use it to download pictures from my iPhone to a USB flash drive. A flash drive physically fits but is not a self powered device. The phone gives an error message saying it won't work. I haven't tried a USB backup external HD yet but assume it will work. I wish the documentation had been very explicit in explaining this requirement.
