This Folio is held onto the iPad by magnets. It is not a case that snaps on as I've had in the past. The magnets seem to hold the iPad very securely, in that I don't believe that the case would tend to just fall off unless greatly mishandled. The iPad automatically logs out when the magnetic front cover is closed. The folio can also be folded in such a way that the iPad can be kept standing up (horizontally only) on a flat surface, such a a table top. The case should provide some level of protection for your iPad, but it seems more functional than protection oriented, in that I don't know how well it would protect your iPad from falling off a table (not that I want to test it!). At $79, I think it's a little pricey, but I still recommend it.

This was a gift for my wife along with an IPAD. She loved this color and raved several times how much she liked it. I was easy to install and it very functional. The quality of the materials is very good.

The Apple iPad magnetic cover is well built and durable. The design of its edges interferes a bit with the touch login button. I find I’m login via password rather than touch most of the time.
