This is the best camera system for the money that is currently available. Arlo customer service has been excellent so far in my interactions with them. Arlo has begun to make changes to not require "cloud" storage, but they need to go further. They need to add gigabit ethernet, a local webserver for accessing photos, the ability to set the basestation IP, and the ability to store videos on an external share. Arlo should also provide better accessories, especially anti theft devices for externally mounted cameras. Do *not* believe the battery life -- you need to get power to the cameras.

I own every iteration of arlo cameras since day 1 and so far this generation is the worst. IT has been a nightmare as the cameras won't stay connected all the time. The Smart Hub disconnects like a wife on divorce. I thought I had a lemon so I went to bestbuy and exchanged it for another unit. I want to give Arlo another chance. Luckily they released a new firmware dated Jan 16 2019 and so far the camera and new smart hub works. Fingers crossed !!!!

It took 48 hours to realize this purchase was a mistake. I gave it every bit of chance I could, but when I dug into ARLO's customer service, it became quickly evident that they are aware of the system's lack of advertised capability. For the last 48 hours, we have received one notification after another that a car/motion occurred in front of our home. I adjusted it to not include "vehicles" and even set a "Activity Zones" which took the street out of play, and the notifications just kept coming. Viewing the live feed on my cell phone was hit or miss with it actually connecting to the app about 50% of the time. Additionally, the lag time is so great that reacting to the notifications of a real threat would be impossible. Someone would be inside your home before your phone ever went off (which you would probably ignore assuming it was just another car notification). But when it does work...the picture is pretty clear.

Overall very satisfied. Image quality is excellent. Before purchase I was concerned about range of WiFi signal in large house but has not been a problem. There is a delay between camera sensing motion and receiving notification on iPhone. Was expecting to go months between charging cameras but camera at busy door had to be recharged at 2-3 weeks; cameras at locations without much traffic will probably go months between charging.

They work excellent, in my time owning the devices I was able to prevent two citizens from taking packages and one from getting curious about my home by simply flashing the lights on my camera. I live in Washington state and even with our winters the camera batteries hold pretty good. My only wish is that they wouldn’t focus on cars and pay more attention to people

Excellent camera system. Very easy to setup and manage, both physical installation and software management. Good app and web access. 4K capacity is amazing. Battery life is fair running 4K and best quality settings. WiFi connectivity is good within 50' blocked with walls. Cloud storage (billable plan) and storage to base unit with SD card is good. A bit pricey, but quality overcomes price.

It is very easy to set up, the video quality is very clear and the app is easy to use with a lot of features right at your finger tips. We are still using the "free for a year" storage offered with the purchase so I can't say how much the monthly subscription will cost after that runs out.

I just moved into a new home and wanted a security system and after a long time spent comparing all that was to offer, I decided to go with arlo over choosing the ring system. I hear great things about the competition but arlo was the way to go for me. The ultra is extremely easy to setup. The quality if the ultras 4k video is amazing. I would recommend this to anyone

It was super easy to set up I wish I would have done it sooner. I love the panorama view it works great for my driveway since we have two front doors. I like the secure lock on mount feature to avoid theft and tampering. The alerts are nice but can be overwhelming until you turn them off. This feature will be great when out of town. I like that it has sound also, you can hear them and they can hear you. Arlo provided me with this product free of charge, but the content and my opinions expressed here are honest and based on my use of the product.

My only issue with the camera is the unusual lag. The fish eye is still visible even though the camera is marketed as having a 180 degree view. All in all it’s still a very good upgrade from the Pro 2. The magnetic power and the individual siren are nice upgrades along with the built in light.

setting up the account and the smart hub was a hassle. the video quality is really good but useless because it didn't detect people as well as i expected. it managed to catch almost every car that passed but it struggled to catch a person that was about 13 feet away. also didn't detect any motion at all during 1 AM-7AM, which are the hours that people are more likely to break into my car or damage my property. battery would only stay charged for a day the other camera would last about 2-3 days. i also had trouble with obtaining the 1 year free trial thats included so i contacted Arlo customer service, but they were no help. i returned these after buying the Google IQ and Nest cameras- they are A LOT better even though they only record in 1080.

Previous system is much, much better than this. Do not make the mistake of upgrading to ultra. Batteries on pro lasted 2-3 months between recharges. Ultra installed in the same locations - all three cameras dead from full charge within *a week*. Much weaker connection to base, cameras that were able to live stream video before now can barely get any connection at all. Thoroughly dissapointed. Other than nicer video quality when it works, this has been a terrible unreliable security system. Do not buy.

Had a wired system that went defective so I purchased Arlo Ultra. What Im finding is that the battery seems to be draining pretty quickly. The guy in the store said the battery lasts two months on his. I find that hard to believe. I have had mine set up for two hours and the battery life is already down 4 %. I figure if i'm lucky i will get 4 days out of the battery.They only gave me one of each of the mounting brackets. They should have given me two of each. Already I'm going to have to spend additional money for brackets and spare batteries. I changed the activity area for motion alerts and it's not working correctly, so I had to turn it off in settings on my phone. its going off in areas that are not highlighted.Seriously considering returning this product.

Even at $799.99 on sale for the 4 pack, Arlo could at least provide a separate charging cable and power adapter for each $300 camera (if sold separately). I mean really...are people pulling cameras down to charge them and put them back up? Seriously? Terribly disappointing to say the least. Quality of the video is great AFTER BUYING the following: 4 charging cables (the included cable is about 3 feet and pretty useless when installing anywhere especially outside of the home). Price about $50 EACH!!! Wire to run outlets in the attic so as to not have wires running down from every camera outside. Price about $50! Outlets and boxes for attic wiring...another $10-$15 So, bottom line, you had better be prepared to spend another $250-$300 for installation if you do the work yourself...and who knows what it would cost to pay someone to do this!?!? Why would they not disclose this?!?!?

Really like this system but there were minimal to no directions. Ustomer support was very helpful though. Had there been directions I think I would give this a 5 star rating. Being able to set up the cameras not pick up every car that goes by is a plus! Pictures are very clear. Does exactly what I need it to! I would definitely recommend it if you want clear pictures. It’s worth the price!

I had the arlo 3 for years and decided to upgrade to the ultra. Works as intended, image is crisp and night vision is a lot better because of the spot light feature. The only grip is how come I can’t zoom on to license as clearly as advertised on their ad? I hope they fix this feature with a software update.

This system is easy to install and to setup. There are issues though with the connectivity. There is always some lag. It will vary from 3 seconds to 10 second, but is typically around 5 seconds of lag time. It seems as though this will be unavoidable since it is a wireless system and is transmitting from camera to hub to network to phone. Or whatever you are viewing footage on. This does disappoint, however I am disappointed that when on zoom in on a live video feed that the clarity isn’t very good, it is just a digital zoom. In the ads for this camera it always seemed as though the image was clearer when zooming in. I would feel that this is an area that Arlo could definitely improve on. Battery life has been pretty good so far. One camera needed charging after about a months use due to the amount that it recorded activity. The other three have gone over a month and have not needed charging.

The camera seem to be losing connection with the hub and will stop working until you either disconnect and restart the individual camera or if you disconnect the hub from the power source. Otherwise the images are good when the cameras are actually working.

there's a lot of really good standout features in this camera system: image processing, 180 degree view, good IR. However there's a substantial lag in the notifications that one gets from these. I think it's due to the fact that when the cameras trigger, they send the clip off to Arlo for processing who then sends the notification back down to the user. This is probably fine for 720p, or 1080p, as the video files are likely not that large and can be processed quickly. However I suspect that 4K is too large for this to be handled quickly. The scenario ends up playing out like this, fedex shows up with a delivery, walks up to the house, and leaves a package, as they are walking back to their truck, and about to drive off i then get a notification that someone is on the front porch. These things would be more tolerable if these cameras weren't just so expensive.

Easy to set up and fantastic quality of the video taken by the cameras.
