I have to admit, this game blew my expectations out of the water. I haven't played any Assassin's Creed games before, but I have played other UbiSoft games, and I was expecting a bug-riddled, microtransaction-pushing mess. I wouldn't have picked it up if my wife hadn't been excited about the ancient greece setting, but I'm really glad I did.
While we have encountered bugs, they've been mostly minor and had minimal impact on gameplay (though the game did crash on her once), and the microtransactions aren't being thrown around in your face. I did have some concerns about the grind after reading some reviews recommending the XP boost, but it hasn't really felt that way to me at all, though I'm the type that generally tends to abandon the main quest for side quests until I run out. I started the game on hard and I feel it's a reasonable challenge - different enemies require different strategies and there are usually multiple ways that you can clear an area, according to your play style. I'm thoroughly enamored of the naval combat, I've been told it's similar to Black Flag, so maybe I'll check that one out as well.

Best AC game I have played

I am 15 hours in and by far the best AC game I’ve played. I normally stop playing around the 10 hour mark on most of the AC games I’ve played which included black flag, unity and now odyssey. I trade them in if you are wondering why only play and not finish them. I finish games I keep. It’s rare the games I trade in that I don’t finish them. I skipped syndicate and origin based on reviews.
This game has the best combat, AI and story and I actually want find out what happen at the end.

The new Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a great change of Assassin. Maybe some doesn't like, but we have to see this is a good open world game. The company try to change the old game play to face the new play style. Long play hours. Also just wait the discount, some time best buy will have a great deal.

I bought this game on a whim, as I have played some of the other games in the series and felt average about the series as a whole, but this game changed all of that. A huge open world to explore, fun combat and great assassinations. Get this game if you enjoyed games like Witcher 3 as that is the closest game to it.

This is the most fun I have had with a game in a while. The combat is great, whether you like to stealth or charge right in. The story is engrossing, with little surprises along the way. Visually it is beautiful and detailed. I highly recommend Assassins Creed Odyssey, especially if you are a fan of action rpgs.

Great open world game that is FUN to play. The world is huge, with tons of open world "ubisoft" content. The story is decent, not great, but the gameplay itself is fast and fluid and like I said earlier, FUN. Give this a chance if you haven't already, it is well worth it. A top 5 game of 2018.

First off, the game is beautiful with depth to the each new area you travel. They smartly put in a photo mode for some of the locations you find yourself in. The combat is wholly simplistic but does have some nuance to it. Only about 10 hours in so story is still developing but I am enjoying it so far.

This is definitely the game of the year and the best game of the assassins creed franchise. The decision to make it into an RPG really elevates the game and the gameplay, graphics, story and extras round out this game. I cannot recommend this enough buy it as its the game of the year.

I've played every Assassin's Creed game since Black Flag and this is another great edition to the franchise. Imagine playing a game version of the movie 300, that's what this is. Excellent graphics and amazing action based story. Add it to your collection.

I didn't think I would enjoy this game as much as I did, since it was meant to just pass the time between destiny 2 and red dead 2. However, the depth of content and the beautiful details and the gameplay drew me in and I'm currently 40 hours and counting with no end in sight.

This is not your average assassins creed game; I'm dozens of hours in and still having fun playing missions, exploring, and slowly chipping away at the primary storyline. Only noticed a couple bugs so far; Unity this is not. Probably among the top 3 assassins games thus far

A Solid Entry To The Series

The latest chapter in the hit series bring Greek Mythology into the game. There are sharp graphics, amazingly vast maps, and plenty of quests to keep gamers happy. The only issue I have is that it has the look and feel of past games in terms of missions and gameplay and it is getting old. It also is difficult at times to navigate to objectives. So if you are a fan of the series it is a must; if not; I would wait.

What can I say this is an amazing beautiful game and there is so much to explore and do. The rpg elements are a nice touch to the game . I’ve already clocked in 40 hours and I’m still not halfway done with the game. It’s worth the money with all the content that is provided.

I just finished up Odyssey last night, and after spending close to 80 hours with this game I would agree this game is definitely an Odyssey. This is the only game I've played in the Assassin's Creed franchise, so I can't compare it to the other installments. I would describe it as giant RPG through ancient Greece that has elements similar to Witcher 3, but with better combat although a weaker story. I also enjoyed playing as Alexios, and you have the option to play as Kassandra. I loved the combat in this game from the array to weapons, bow, and controlling your personal battle ship the Adrestia. The skill tree could maybe be expanded for more abilities, but it was nice to at least be able to reassign skill points to change your play up. The story is kind of a choose your own adventure, based on decisions you make, which can significantly impact the storyline. My only real knock on the game is it's almost too much. The world is massive requiring a ton of traveling, there's metric ton of weapons and gear, and a lot of the quests are the same. During the last third of playthrough I was more or less ready to move on, and to just hurry up to finish the story. There's an additional 1000 side quests I could do, but I just have no interest. The level of excess just detracts from main story. Regardless I still had a ton of fun with this game, and I hear the next installment is based on Rome, so I'll probably be playing that once it comes out.

I've truly enjoyed this game. The story is engaging and keeps me going. I've truly enjoyed exploring the open worlds of the more recent Assassin's Creeds. I find myself wandering around to see sights just as much as playing through the story missions.

A much bigger departure from earlier AC games than even Origins was, this really takes in more stronger RPG elements and lets you choose your own path and make decision from surface level (like character abilities) to far reaching story choices (different endings). Definitely a buy though for true AC fans (you can still totally be an assassin all the way) and even fans of more open action/RPG games.
