||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant to deviate from Dell or toshiba laptops, since that’s all I had ever bought & never had problems with those brands, but I bought this laptop specifically for my online class due to the specs that were highlighted in store. The laptop was supposed to be fast enough to multitask between webpages and a couple of word docs or ppts. It was supposed to have lots of memory space. It was supposed to be perfect for college. NO. The screen suddenly blacked out while I was working on finishing out details to submit my assignment. The screen went black, the power button stayed on, but I never got it to turn back on. The laptop was only fourteen days old. The backlit keyboard was very nice, but would overheat after about an hour. I do NOT recommend this product at all.

I wish I chose a different one.

I do understand your disappointment and the inconvenience if you are experiencing system freeze or performance and the laptop running hot. These issues are temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update, regardless what brand name of computer this may be. This may take a longer time depending on the network traffic from the update server and the stability of your high-speed internet service. Also, laptop will do several system reboot or restart during the update process. Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized. During WINDOWS Update, system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. It does decreases or normalizes once utilization goes down. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically. If you are accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance. Performance is slower than my Compaq from 9 years ago. Bought this because they were out of stock of the one I really wanted. HP smokes this junk. Never buying an ASUS computer ever again.
