    Good purchase

Great laptop, I purchased in 2018. I just happened to come back and make a review because I’m just now looking for a replacement battery. That’s been my only issue in all this time and it should be fixable. So I 10/10 recommend.

This is not a "desktop replacement" laptop

Had it for three weeks. Top off, it's important to note: - This is a convertible laptop, meaning it's more a hybrid tablet. Once you find that out (I purchased it lusting for an iPad Pro, and to my delight, found I already owned a more powerful similar device lol): - Battery is internal. Want to reset from a naughty problem? Screw off bottom cover and disconnect battery cable for a minute. - RAM is not easily reachable, HDD is (and there is an M.2 slot) - Only 2 USB ports, and they're on opposite sides of the laptop (problem if you have a 2 USB device, such as a CD/DVD/BluRay player or some HDD external units) - No Ethernet jack - No CD/DVD/BluRay - Scratches EASILY, especially bottom cover So, if you're like me, I had to buy like $150 in extra drives, adapters, hubs, etc. Good things: - Cute - Great speakers - Battery life is OK - Touchscreen is OK, could be more precise - Good screen, at least visually - Performance is good, 8th gen Kaby Lake refresh: you get four cores, eight threads. i5 I believe is no big compromise with i7's. - Easily upgrade your HDD, and has m.2 slot so you can keep your big old 2.5" drive (but manual doesn't say how long the m.2 drive has to be). There are no deep tech manuals, and no disassembly videos yet on Youtube, so you're flying solo. RAM is not easily reachable and I suppose is underneath the battery (just a guess). Could not remove the battery easily, so I just stuck with replacing the HDD with a SATA SDD (altough I recomend an m.2 drive to retain storage capacity, but I could not find on the manual what the m.2 drive length should be). Bottom cover easily screws off to access internals, at least part of them. I've thought about returning it. I'm more of a power user on the run. Please be delicate on the hinges, as with all laptops this is a weak spot, but on these 360º convertibles, even more so. Open and close by center not by sides (or grasp both sides, never just one).

Great after SSD upgrade and returning first one

First one died due to a Windows 10 update I think. Three stars for this. After exchanging at the store, got the 2nd one home and works great. Swapped out the original hard drive for a 1TB SSD via Macrium. Runs like a 5 star computer AFTER all the effort and disk upgrade. With the SSD upgrade, it can cold bootup in about 8 seconds. Happy wife. :) Now hers is faster than mine. Solid purchase overall. Nice screen, great speakers, feels really portable for a 15in screen, sturdy construction, and nice keyboard.

I purchased this over 3 years ago and it has performed wonderfully. The size and weight are perfect. The backlit keyboard is great at night when lights are low. I use the tablet mode with a stylus for sketching and drawing. The battery life is adequate.

    Best Laptop Ever

I purchased 2018. I have enjoyed my laptop, no issues. I use it for work, personal and recently designing t-shirts. Actually looking to purchase another one just like it, because I cracked my screen. But unfortunately Best-buy no longer sells this one and I have issues finding it on Amazon. Hopefully I can find another one close to this one.

    BEWARE: CHOOSE ANOTHER BRAND

    Posted .

READ LOTS OF REVIEWS AND CONSIDER THEM CAREFULLY. CHECK CONSUMER REPORTS FOR THEIR RATINGS AND EVALUATION OF THE BRAND. My laptop was a lemon from the start, never functioned correctly, mother board had to be replaced (under warranty) after it completely died, but did not fix the other issues. ASUS refused to help at all, even right after the warranty period, despite the fact that the issues were continued from before the warranty expired. CHOOSE ANOTHER COMPANY. I will NEVER own another ASUS.

I wish I had known the speakers were on the bottom. I use my laptop on my lap, so my legs muffle the sound when I'm playing music. Still a good computer with a good build quality.

This laptop has a great screen but is slow considering its package. It is also a bit pricey for this name brand. The on and off switch is on the side and you will constantly hit it by accident. I've had it for a little over two months and would return if possible. Better and cheaper choices out there.

Will never buy an ASUS brand laptop again

I bought this laptop in October of 2018 as a replacement for a Dell that I had owned for 10 years. I was attracted by the price and the good reviews, and it had a lot of the features I was interested in . HUGE MISTAKE - HUGE. Two weeks before the one year warranty expired it shut itself down and wouldn't power on again. When I brought it in for repair they hassled me that since it was so close to the warranty expiration they might not be able to repair it. Thankfully I squeaked by - the blown motherboard was replaced. Well, here we are beginning of June and now the hard drive is totally dead. Note this is not a laptop I run around with - it almost exclusively stayed in the house and was mostly used for browsing and Netflix streaming. I was able to back up the data but now it is a doorstop. I am actually writing this review on my old Dell (that is now 12 years old and still working!). What a hunk of junk. Stay away from this brand.

    Problems from day one!

I'm very disappointed with this PC. First time buying an Asus after years with HP. Sorry I made the switch. Thought I was getting a lot of computing power at this price point, but it doesn't deliver. It took four hours to get started out of the box. The backlight on the keyboard stopped working after first Windows update. Spent an 1.5 hours with tech support to get back on line. Next update, backlight down again. Tech support provide instruction to correct which didn't help. Had to reset PC and reinstall programs to get backlight to work. Guess what? Another Windows update and the keyboard backlight is out again! Not to mention problems with brining up programs and internet connection. Asus, never again!!!

    Can't Believe this

Bought this laptop today and went to set it up. Only problem is, I can't connect it to my network. The security key field on the laptop is limited to 11 characters and my security key is 14. Contacted ASUS support and they told me there is nothing they can do and that I need to contact my provider to change the security key on my router. Seriously? I have numerous other devices connected to the router (including the laptop I am using to write this review) and didn't have any problem with the key length on any of them. Taking laptop back tomorrow for another brand.

    Lemon computer, does not work

Computer is 3 months old, it does not boot up. Sits with message that says scanning and repairing C drive. ASUS is no help. Say that its under warranty, but wont pay shipping and does not have local repair. They also want me to take it to a local technician and have it inspected for damage or they wont cover it under warranty. So I have to pay for a technician in order to send it to a technician that might be able to repair it under warranty. Rude support people, and really, really, lousy computer.
