Reviewing this device as a Windows slate. Lots of people are complaining about the kickstand - MS Surface-style design which DOES have drawbacks. If that is not for you, this device won't be either. For example, this thing is just terrible on a lap....just like every other device using this design. So decide first if this form factor works for your needs. If it does, read on. This is a FABULOUS tablet for the target audience. Namely, a content creator who wants a rough-and-tumble Windows tablet with long battery life that can be taken basically anywhere and used with confidence. It has the battery life of an iPad or Android tablet combined (mostly) with the versatility of Windows. All in a shell designed to stand up to the elements better than a typical tablet. The OLED screen is gorgeous and gets decently bright. It says 500 nits, but I don't think it gets that bright in typical use and only achieves that level with HDR content. Still, it is more than capable indoors and passable outdoors. Touch sensitivity isn't the best, it takes a bit of effort which may or may not be by design. Pen works well, and it supports MPP so any Surface Pro pen or MPP stylus will work - that's awesome. No pen in the box, which is not as awesome. Speakers are decent for a tablet. Not a lot of bass, but clear and loud. Front camera is quite good, rear camera is also pretty good but fixed focus it appears so don't plan on using it as a mobile video recorder. Windows Hello face recognition is reliable. The real joy is the performance and battery. CPU performance is strong. The PZ13 feels very fast and snappy in windows, easily as fast as the top devices from Intel and AMD. This is true on basically all the power settings. Even better, battery life is really really good, probably double a typical Intel or AMD machine performing the same tasks. Assuming your app works with ARM, you will not be dissapointed in the performance. However, some apps (and most games) do not work with ARM, so check first. Also, the iGPU on this particular Snapdragon X chip is by far the weakest, approximately the same performance as Intel XE graphics on its 13th gen chips. So decent but far from what you need to play any serious games. Since so few games run on this anyway, probably not a problem. There are 2 USB-C ports only and one is behind a rubber cap. No USB-A. No HDMI. It does have a full-size SD card slot which is nice. Basically the ASUS ads capture the target user pretty well. Someone who is a creative type, needing to capture and work with images or videos which away from a typical desk environment (outdoors even) and who needs a great screen, decent performance, good battery life, and full Windows. If you just need a more traditional 2-in-1, there are plenty of good ones at this price which might be a better pick.

The ASUS ProArt PZ13 competes with the Microsoft Surface CoPilot+. It uses the Samsung Snapdragon processor which has fantastic battery life. I've gotten well over 12 hours doing basic computing. The screen is an OLED and color quality is excellent. 1 TB SSD doesn't appear to be replaceable but it does have a full size SD slot to add memory. It can accept microSD cards using an adapter. It's rated to be water resistant (not submersible) which most tablet or laptop formats are not. Performance is snappy. Not all software is compatible and most titles still run through emulation. Not a problem for most productivity software. It handles photo editing but I'm not sure how it is with video editing yet. Touch screen works well. Just starting to play with AI features but can't really speak to them yet. As a Windows tablet, it won't beat an iPad in most touch apps but there are enough so that it is useful as a tablet. It does run full Windows which gives it a lot of flexibility. A great everyday computer. Not sure it would replace your desktop for power computing nor a gaming machine but great for what most people need.

Love this computer. sleek design. goes from tablet to laptop easily. very fast computing and handles my multiple tabs and multiple apps going at the same time. Lightweight as promised. Wish you could detach the key board and still have it work. I would say that the free webroot protective software is annoying and requires a start everyday to make it not slow down the computer. I would also say that another USB-C would be really helpful. I would also say that I have had trouble using a wireless mouse with a USB-A attachment when using it in a dongle that I've had to attach in order to use an external monitor and speakers. The connectivity is limited in that sense. I use this as my main laptop. I do a lot of webbased emailing, google sheets, web data base use, but I do not do design or gaming, for the record. Still trying to figure out what stylus pen works with the machine. I thought any stylus would work but that has not been the case.

The ASUS ProArt PZ13 is a dream come true for creatives on the go. The 13" 3K OLED display is jaw-droppingly vibrant and color-accurate—perfect for photo editing, illustration, and content review. As someone who values both power and portability, this Copilot+ PC with Snapdragon X Plus delivers incredible battery life and smooth performance across creative apps and multitasking. With 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, it’s more than capable of handling large files and projects, and the detachable design makes it incredibly versatile—switching from laptop to tablet in a snap. Plus, it's sleek and professional-looking in Nano Black, and super lightweight for travel or working in different environments. Whether you're an artist, designer, or someone who just appreciates top-tier visuals and flexibility, the PZ13 checks all the boxes. ASUS really raised the bar with this one.

The Asus PZ13 is marketed as a creators convertible laptop, but it lacks most of what you need for it to be viable for creating. The biggest issue that this tablet faces is performance. It ships with a Snapdragon X Plus CPU, but unlike other comparable products, it ships with an 8 core variant that was just announced. This makes the CPU in this 20% slower which isn't that big of a deal. Where it really struggles though is GPU performance. The Adreno X1-45 comes in significantly slower in 3d benchmarks compared to the GPU in the 10 core CPU. While I don't know yet the specifics of the 8 core and 10 core when it comes to GPUs, this one is far slower. What is also not helping this convertible is the 20w TDP limit. Other snapdragon products allow for higher power, and while others face a problem with thermals by letting it run free, this tablet doesn't get hot leading me to believe there is additional thermal headroom to be had. What also makes this thing come up short is the quality (or lack of) in the accessories. The attachable keyboard is thin and flimsy, connecting via magnets to the tablet. There is no additional ports on the keyboard, no additional battery, just a thin flimsy keyboard that squeaks when typing. The tablet comes with a magnetic back cover that snaps on pretty easily and stays in place well enough. It has a hard kickstand the comes out so you can use it in a pseudo laptop like configuration. The problem is that it doesn't work well for using on your lap, slight angles/leaning/moving cause the setup to become contorted and horrible to use compared to other laptops. This would have been much better served to have shipped with a more hard keyboard attachment with a solid hinge that was detachable to give you a solid laptop experience while also allowing it to be used as a tablet. In addition to that, while this is marketed as 'for creators', the Asus Pen that is advertised along with it doesn't actually come with the tablet. You'd think for the price they would include the pen, but no they ask an additional $100 for it. Probably for the best because the pen attachment on the case is a simple cheap plastic loop which I would trust holding a bic pen, let alone a $100 pen. Without the pen, you're stuck with the mediocre windows tablet experience where the interface isn't intuitive driving you mad with misclicks or struggling to figure out how to perform the action you need. This isn't necessarily an Asus problem, but they are selling a windows tablet, they should be doing what they can to mitigate the known issues (in this case, shipping it with the Asus pen). As for performance in creative apps, the new Snapdragon processors leave a lot to be desired. In Photoshop it performs about as well as other 20w CPUs that are out, but lag behind other more powerful CPUs. In photoshop the performance is about what I expected and is usable for light tasks. Whats not usable is just about any other Adobe applications. For video editing in Premiere Pro, the performance comes in drastically low, only competing with 10 year old CPUs. Its not entirely the CPUs fault, but instead Adobes for not porting over Premiere to ARM yet, which leads us to the next problem, app support. For creators, you most likely are going to be using Adobe apps, but outside of Photoshop and Premiere Pro, the rest aren't supported yet. Illustrator in Creative Cloud redirects you to a web app, there is no InDesign, no After Effects, etc. You're limited to just those two. Whats ironic about this is the free 3 month trial for Adobe Creative Cloud that comes with this is essentially just a 3 month trial of Photoshop. On the plus side, other companies are doing better at porting their software, Affinity has ported their 3 software suites to work with ARM already and they work very well on this. Still wouldn't attempt to do any heavy lifting with this, but for light work they perform just as well as other laptops. For video the best option I have found is Davinci Resolve which has also been ported to ARM. For all they've done though, you're still limited by the slow CPU/GPU found in the tablet and its not going to be a pleasant experience. There are positives to this tablet though. The screen is absolutely phenomenal. Quite possibly the best looking display I've seen on a device yet. The 1800p OLED screen packs a PPI north of 250 leading to an extremely sharp image. The blacks are extremely deep because of the OLED panel which leaves you with an essentially infinite contrast ratio. The colors are very vibrant, in fact in some videos I found them maybe to be a little over saturated but nothing that I feel detracted from the experience. The only drawback I have experienced with the display is the lack of an anti-reflective coating. This is a very glossy display which leads to high def reflections in bright environments. Additionally, one of the drawbacks of the OLED display is the blacks raise to become purple when you have direct light hitting the display, making the blacks worse than what you'd experience on an IPS display. Not really a big issue, but something to be on the lookout for. Finally, the sound on this tablet is really nice. The speaker setup on this is better than what you'd experience on most laptops. I found it to be very comparable to a Macbook in this regard which is nice. The sound seems a little artificially 'bassy' but thats a nice contrast to other laptops and tablets that come off very flat. The volume is also very respectible for something so small. All this said, for what they are asking for this device I feel like you should be getting a lot more. A more useful keyboard, a pen, and more performance. If this had the 10 core Snapdragon in it I wouldn't be so harsh, but this is the new 8 core that is aimed at budget devices, but here Asus is asking a premium price giving you the least amount possible.

Great setup just the right size for traveling very fast crisp screen keyboard is really nice for such a portable setup I purchased the pen separately. Setup was easy and very happy with the purchase. My one disappointment was this is much heavier then what I was expecting. It feels very heavy in the hand and almost has to be heavier than the stated weight. Happy with my purchase I'm looking forward to traveling with it

A much better surface pro. It has the surface beat in term of getting an oled and 1 tb storage for that price including the keyboard is a no brainer. The only reason I'd go for the surface is the 120 hz refresh rate. The battery on this is the best aspect of it. I would charge it once in 3 days and longer on best efficiency mode.

I'll preface that this device is a serious competitior to the Microsoft Surface and honestly a better deal almost every way you slice it. However, the surface is a better package so long as you are ok spending significantly more. First, the kickstand. The kickstand on the PZ13 is fantastic when in its intended use in laptop mode. But, when detaching to hold as a tablet, just take the kickstand off. The added weight is noticeable. I dont hold it in that form often so not a deal breaker for me but the integrated surface kickstand is still the best implementation of this. Next, keyboard. Because of the kickstand and significant weight in that portion of the device, the keyboard would benefit from operating wirelessly when detached. It is not great on your laptop be ause if the weight and lack of stability on non-hard surfaces. Besides those two things, could it have more ram? Sure but it still operates extraordinary for what it has. Could the oen come included to sweeten the deal? Absolutely but a wacom bamboo pen at $30 off amazon worked flawlessly and is not much more. Im happy qoth this device and would love to see the next iteration of this.

Screen is impressive. Windows on ARM is great, no issues with any of my programs. It really is snappy too. Keyboard feels great however unlike the surface pro keyboards its not as rigid and has a lot of flex making it difficult to type on your lap. The asus software is mostly garbage. The last firmware update took away the auto tablet mode in windows that adjusts the taskbar and edge to enter and exit tablet mode when the keyboard is connected. I kind of have a feeling that asus won't really update it to fix the problem now that it seems they are clearing them out. The fan kicks on when really pushing it, and the location of the fan is excellent - very smart design choice. but when just browsing web or watching videos the fan does not come on and its as silent as can be. battery life is really impressive. I really want to like it, but the tradeoffs might not be worth the savings.

Purchased this machine a couple of weeks ago as a replacement for a Surface Pro. Great value for the money and includes a keyboard with large track pad. Also has SSD drive that is twice as large as the Surface Pro and screen is slightly larger too. The Asus is a bit heavier and bulkier than the Surface but pretty close. Long battery life as well which is great. Considering buying a second one but may wait till one can get 32G of Ram. The 16G is enough but I do a lot of business work on the machine and have many apps open at a time.

This has replaced my gaming laptop for design work while away from my desktop. Its long battery life helps me to not worry about whether I'd be able to work for only an hour or two if I cant find a surface near an outlet. I find myself making design changes during awkward gaps in my schedule by just pulling this out. Coupled with a pen (sold separately) I can switch easily from laptop to art station on the fly. So far, it runs everything I need for my game design small business. I have had no technical issues, and only positive experiences as of this review. I would recommend this and have already purchased a second one for another team member. A laptop is a mobile version of a desktop. This thing is a more realistic mobile version of laptop.

I've had this machine for two weeks now and I'm impressed. The battery life is a huge standout, but it also performs well no matter what I've thrown at it. It is a little heavy, but for me that wasn't a huge deal. I do like the form factor, and while I was worried the keyboard wouldn't be great, I am impressed by it. I've had a few Surface devices, and for the money of this machine considering it comes with the keyboard included... it's a no brainer to consider this first.
