Not a refined product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Opened the box to set up the machine. Observed that the laptop is not sitting well on flat surface. Each time you use the key board, it has some depression on right hand side with tapping sound. The charger pin has larger diameter so when inserted it lifts the right side a bit. Observed that so removed the charging pin. Problem continued. So checked the hinges. It's partly due to the design defect of the hinges, I think. Whatever it is, One can not live with this shaky stuff not sitting flat and well supported. So unfortunately I have to return it. Very disappointed as it was one expensive purchase for my High school going son.

Great! Except...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is a great machine, especially for the price. The SSD is super fast. I'm getting from Shut Down mode to on my desktop including entering in my fingerprint in 11 seconds average... really quick! The i7 in this is great. It doesn't say in the product description but it's a 7th Gen i7 which is a dual core 2.7GHz with turbo up to 3.5GHz. My ONLY complaint about this laptop is the fan noise. It's super loud. I'll be watching a YouTube video and I'll hear the fan kick on. Other than that, the battery life is average, screen is nice and clear as normal, and overall this is a great product for this price point. Not sure how they got all of these great specs for such a low price. I'd buy it again if I could do it over because the fan noise is loud, but it's not a bad trade off for the price of this laptop.

Perfect for just about everything
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is amazingly fast and well worth the price. I was comparing this computer with the 2016 Macbook Pro, but the Asus Q324 is just a better computer when you look at the specs. The newest 7th Gen i7 computer which is much faster than the 6th Gen i5 Processor that the 13.3 Macbook Pro is sporting. Overall this computer is fast, light weight, it has a long battery life. I am also a computer science major, my old computer used to over heat and die on me fast. But this computer is just so much better it terms of performance and it's well worth the buy.

Good but not great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop over a month ago. At the time this laptop had just been released in stores so unfortunately there weren't any reviews. My initial impressions were that this laptop was great value for the money. But after owning it for a little while there were a few things I didn't like. Firstly this laptop's fan runs a little more than average, and being that the laptop is so small the fan is small and makes a barely audible high-pitched sound. For example in a quiet room I would just be loading a new webpage and I could hear spin up and then die down. But on the bright side this laptop never got too warm doing light tasks such as browsing the web or watching Netflix. Another annoyance was that the bottom cover had some build quality issues. On the bottom left-hand side of the laptop the bottom panel didn't sit flush with the rest of the device and was noticeably sunken in right below the vent. Also when the laptop was sitting on a flat surface the center of the bottom of the laptop would make just barely enough contact with the surface to cause the laptop feet to not sit stationary. Basically the bottom cover ever so slightly was sticking out in the center and the rubber feet were to low-profile to make good contact with the surface. I did look at the display model and it had the same problem I had with the bottom cover not sitting flush and flat. Another iissue I had was light bleed. The light bleed on this laptop was not terrible but it was there. And unfortunately this is common with IPS displays on many of the higher end laptops. The laptop did seem to briefly freeze a lot during normal web browsing on both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge but that was most likely a Windows glitch. After about a month of use the trackpad did begin to sink-in a little on the left-click area and right out of the box the spacebar felt loose. Aside from the negatives there was a lot to like about this laptop. The display looked great and fairly accurate. I has fast performance and the fingerprint scanner worked great. I was quite impressed with the speakers. The speakers sounded nice and full for a laptop though they did not get very loud. The battery life lasted 8+ hours easily with normal tasks. And this laptop had a wide array of ports that are becoming harder to find on a laptop in this form. This Asus is not a bad laptop but I did feel there were too many minor quality issues for a $1200 laptop. In the end I ended up exchanging this laptop for the HP Spectre x360 with identical specs which I am much more satisfied with for a similar price.

Win10 on new ASUS Laptop not working w/MS Outlook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new laptop appears to be fine but the MS Windows 10 OS that came on it is not working with my 2007 MS Office/Outlook email program. And apparently other than a 30 day Best Buy Geek Squad Tech Support (which has expired) this SW did not come with any Microsoft Tech Support with the purchase! The same exact 2007 Outlook SW worked just fine on my old laptop running an older upgrade version of Windows 10. Comcast technicians have narrowed this problem down to something wrong between the Windows 10 on this new laptop and my 2007 Outlook (which worked fine on the old laptop with Win10). Comcast says this not their problem, it's Microsoft's! I'm now stuck, no where to turn other than paying Microsoft $150 6 months Premium Support to troubleshoot this problem. Next time I spend $1500 buying a new computer and problems happen like this with SW, I will return the computer for a full refund within the 30 days! This having only 30 days and no money back guarantee is a ripoff!

Nice machine - makes a good first impression
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First impressions - Nice, solid machine. It feels well built with a 1920x1080 touch screen, but with a slightly larger footprint than the new HP Spectre x360 (which I just returned because of the terrible trackpad experience I had with it). The fingerprint reader has worked perfectly with Windows Hello so far as has the precision trackpad (it is very close in feel to the 12 inch rMBP I also use). The multistage backlit keyboard has decent travel and feels somewhat mushy (which I like and I seem to type pretty well on). No Thunderbolt ports here, but it does have 1 USB-C, 2 USB-3, HDMI, headphone hack, and SD card reader. I am still installing software and performing updates, so the fan has been going quite a bit and while not super loud, is noticeable in a quiet room. The two downward firing speakers get loud enough and seem pretty clear to me, though I am no audiophile. The chassis is a nice black, similar to the new iPhone black (not jet black glossy), but does pick up fingerprints pretty easily. It has a 3 cell 58w battery, which should get me anywhere from 6-10 hours depending on use.

Fast Laptop, Bad Plastic, Noisy sometimes.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop meets all my requirements for speed, visuals, touch screen, and power. However I noticed the fan is over active sometimes, the wifi has some trouble reaching consistent speeds and after about a month the hinges started to chip the paint and the plastic on one of them snaps sometimes but I can clip it back in. This is because I would use tablet mode often, but I wish it was made of the same metal as the rest of the case so this wouldn't happen. The fan noise was almost constant and became an issue, until I found the proper drivers for the notebook chipset and everything. Once they were installed I noticed a huge improvement in battery life and wifi connectivity, and the fan comes on only when the cpu is under load.
