Doesn't work great as an actual lap top or it could just be me. When not on solid surface (desk) you barely can use the mouse (lap).

After about a month of use, here are my pros and cons. I bought the computer for university work with a few RAM-heavy programs. Pros: Lightweight, tablet function easy to access, love the touchscreen capability. I'm happy with the size too, which surprised me. It's perfect for pulling up two documents side-by-side without having to squint at either of them (and it's super easy to do with the touchscreen). I also love how typing is more comfortable since the computer isn't so fat (i.e. the keyboard is closer to the desk surface). Seems to handle various things well at the same time. I did have one slowdown after installing some updates, but it seems to have resolved. Maybe it said somewhere online and I missed it, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a free little woofer can bundled with the computer upon opening. It has its own special port into which it plugs and honestly, it really improves the sound quite a bit. Alone, the laptop sound really is treble-heavy and weak. Cons: The sleek casing material shows ALL your fingerprints. Ughh. Lots of bundled bloatware to sort through at first. Fewer USB ports than I'd like, but 3 is a fair number for the industry- just affects your ability to hook up various devices like a mouse, optical drive, etc at the same time without having to purchase more accessories like a USB splitter. Lack of optical drive overall is a negative but I knew about that going in, and frankly I like trading the lighter weight and thinner computer for the hassle of hooking up a USB optical drive once in a while. My advice? Go bluetooth with everything if you can. It's much simpler and easy to do on this computer.

the unit had a defective audio system , a quirky on off switch and was a discontinued model which I was not told at purchase

Software downloads don't function properly. The programs run too slow. Not happy with purchase.

Hinges locked and broke case. Screen cracked 2nd time used as a pad.

I don't recommend this computer, is better to invest more money and buy a better brand.

This is the worst laptop I've ever bought! Every time after I turned it on, it went through hours of windows update cycle! During that time the system is extremely slow so I can't use the laptop to perform any work! After about 15 days of owning it (and probably 5-6 times of turning on the system) the laptop just came to a complete black screen with a huge mouse pointer on it after windows update requested to restart the system! After force shutdown and turned back on, it just returned to the same black screen! Maybe it has hardware/software incompatibility with Windows?! Very disappointed with this laptop purchase! Returned to Best Buy in exchange for a HP laptop instead!

No more than 5 months under normal use, the hinge broke. Opened the laptop no problem, but apparently the hinge didn't give like it was stuck or frozen. The screen cracked in the process.

First one had a hard drive problem. Now this one doesn't wake up like my previous computer and the power button is very awkward to use.

Bought for my son to use at college. Had to order for pickup at store since out of stock. Once out of box, computer ran very slow, kept failing to connect to internet to download virus software. Went back to store and Geek Squad tried to boot up. They couldn't get it to work and told us it was a hardware issue. Still known in stock. Had to order another one! School starts in 5 days!! Manager offered to expedite shipping with one day shipping. Still won't make it to us for 3 days due to weekend! Hope it arrives in time and works properly this time!! Supposed to be a good computer... we shall see!

Doesn't always shut down properly. "x" key sticks.

A 1000 bucks laptop at 600 was a steal. And after getting it - I was skeptical but it was working good until one day - while watching Youtube - it suddenly crashed saying "your pc is not working properly". And restarted into bios

I purchased six ASUS laptops in the last four years. 2 of the laptops no longer operate at all. I purchased four of this model within the last 10 months. One the battery already failed and I suspect we will have a return trip to Geek Squad because the replacement has shown a similar issue within 2 weeks of getting it back. A second one beeps and automatically reboots itself in the middle of surfing the intranet, working on a Word document, or playing a video game.
