    Excellent Motherboard for PC Enthusiasts

This ROG STRIX motherboard is one of the best values among Z690 motherboards currently available. It is nearly the perfect motherboard for most gamers and power users. === PROS === - Excellent design and looks. - Tons of rear I/O ports. - Three M.2 slots, one of which supports PCIe 5.0. Heatsinks included. - Two more M.2 slots can be added with the included Hyper M.2 expansion card. - Supports DDR5 and Wi-Fi 6e. - Seamless driver recognition/installation after booting Windows for the first time. - Tons of options and advanced settings available in BIOS. - So far, completely stable after 3+ months of use on this setup: i7-12700K, RTX 3080 Ti, 32GB DDR5 @ 5600MHz === CONS === - With four sticks of DDR5, you can't overclock the RAM or use XMP. You'll likely have to stick with two sticks of DDR5 for the highest speeds and greatest compatibility. This is true of most (all?) Z690 boards but will hopefully improve with BIOS updates. - The ASUS Armoury Crate software is confusing to use, with advanced settings buried deep in several different menus. === OVERALL === No need to spend more on a super-premium Z690 board unless you are a serious overclocker. This ROG STRIX Z690-E checks all the boxes.

    Amazing mobo...but dang it's expensive

Asus Z690-E Gaming Wifi DDR5. Huge box, lots of accessories. Will fit 3, m.2 nvme ssds on the board and has an accessory so you can add 2 more and put them in a pcie slot. Bought this for an Intel i7-13700k. The Bios Flashback at the rear of the mobo is super easy to use. Just search some videos on YouTube and no problem at all. I recommend downloading the Asus Armory Crate as it will have all the drivers and chipset drivers you'll need to finish off your build. Let's talk about the elephant in the room. The price. This mobo is way too expensive to compete with midrange z790 boards at 200 less that you can find on Amazon and newegg. My wife got me a 100 dollar gift card, and I had some BB rewards to offset the price. My issue is that I wanted geek squad on it, but there were really no really good mobos IN STORE that I could purchase for what I wanted, so this piece of kit was it. Don't get me wrong it's really really nice, but a little overkill if I'm not gonna push the CPU beyond a few mhz. Still, no buyers remorse here. Here are the specs of the PC I ended up building. Amazing board. Build and installed everything without any problems. Once I had windows going, I just downloaded the latest BIOS and drivers, and everything works perfectly. The design looks great, and it has all the ports and features to future proof your build. I love how it has the double cut-out for LGA1200 socket coolers, so I didn't need to wait for my LGA1700 bracket to arrive from NZXT.

Monster board, does everything you want it to do, Asus needs to improve their software. Too much bloatware, however their updater tools have improved.

When it’s comes to gaming ASUS doesn’t best! What an amazing MB for the price, supports Gen 12, 13 and 14 Intel processors. I paired it with an Intel 12700k to play MW 2 and MW 3. Down the line of I ever need more cores, I can always update the CPU to a 14th Gen Intel i7 or an i9 processors.

I have absolutely no issues with this motherboard. I did a lot of research before buying one and this turned out to be a good choice for the newest intel 12900KS CPU. The only way this could be better is if ASUS provided easier ways to update the BIOS. An included software disc or equivalent way to update the without having to jump through many steps would have been nice.

Don’t do it. Save your cash and keep using your current potato. Unless you upgrade to Z790, DO NOT UPGRADE TO Z690. Too many issues! First, DUAL CHANNEL RAM NOT WORKING, it is hit and miss with any DDR ram sticks that come two to a set. If that matters to you, don’t buy this. Secondly, update the bios to fix one issue, only to have other issues, like usb ports randomly disconnecting mouse and keyboard. Try another port, sure, tomorrow you’ll need to try another etc, etc. Want to use SSD’s and M.2 drives together, don’t even think of it, no matter which bios you have, 2803, the latest or less, HA! Windows will only see some drives connected, not every drive. No bios fix for that. Try booting to the M.2 drive that Windows does see and you’ll blue screen loop and be forced to remove it or disable it in the bios. Also, the CPU, bought a 12th gen to go with this mess? Better purchase a third party cpu bracket, cause else your CPU will catch fire and burn your PC to the ground, seriously, better look that one up, I’m dead f***ing serious! There were other issues but I digress. Feel free to look them up and stay far away. I’m going to be honest, I didn’t want 13th gen just because of the number 13, but now I wish I had. I may just be re-installing my ASUS HERO VI, i7 4770k, and G.Skill sniper ram(dual channel mind you, gen 3) just to get away from these issues. These parts are not going on ebay, straight to the city dump!| First pic is ASUS HEREO. Second is the Z690 ROG STRIX.

A truly great motherboard, packed full of features that are second to none. The AI Overclocking works extremely well for the 12th gen chips. The PCIe5.0 is futureproofing for a little bit. DDR5 ram overclocking works very well. And overall options for manual overclocking can only be beaten by the Hero, but not my much. Benchmarking with current build puts me in the top 5% in TimeSpy. A board truly worthy of real water cooling vs Air.

Great board. Had some technical difficulties being that the board didn’t have the most up to date updates. If you want to run the i9 13900K like I did right out of the gate, you will need to have the 12th to get it to the bios and then upgrade it, otherwise you will more than likely get an Error Code 55. But I truly enjoy the board so far and hope it last for a good while. I do wish there were more USBs, but still an awesome board

Update bios before you do anything. I have only one issue. There are 2 PCIE 5 slots. One is for the GPU and the other for the top M.2 drive. The con is, if you use the top m.2 slot, the GPU will only run in PCIE 8X and NOT PCIE 16x. If your a gamer, you will be stuck with m.2 gen 4 speeds. The only way to speed up the m.2 gen 4 is to RAID them. After RAID using Samsung 980 Pros, i went from 7kmb/s read and 5kmb/s write to 12Kmb/s read and 11kmb/s write. Read the instructions from asus to set up the RAID because it does work. If you use the top m.2 for the OS, (have Winders 11 already installed) Winders 11 already recognizes the RAID set and you will not have to install the Drivers.
