I bought these glasses to mainly use in the living room whenever I wanted to game but I didn’t want to pull out a whole monitor to get a bigger screen. For this purpose the glasses are great. They are immersive, there is no delay, it’s basically like a portable OLED monitor in your eyes. You can dim the glasses to see the screen better or you can turn off the dimming which actually makes it possible to walk with the glasses as you can surprisingly see your surroundings pretty well even when the screen is on. I personally prefer to anchor the screen when I’m sitting so that it doesn’t move and then when I’m moving I have it in follow mode. They do get a little warm on the forehead area but nothing too unbearable. The audio is great and if you have the audio low enough, somebody next to you would not be able to even see or hear what you are playing so they are great if you want privacy while playing. If I used the glasses for a few hours then wrote my review I’d probably give it 5 starts but some issues have arisen with more time spent with the glasses. I tried to use other features like the 3D features but the drop in in picture quality and Hz makes me just stick with the default mode. First of all, I believe the 240 hz mode is a joke and falsely advertised. When I bought the glasses I thought the 240 hz mode meant I was going to get 240 hz no compromises as these glasses are much more expensive than the competition. However, there are compromises. For example, it seems 240 hz mode is only available through the dock as the option to enable this mode isn’t shown when using the glasses by themselves. The screen also gets slightly blurrier in 240 hz mode so there is a slight resolution drop. It is not too noticeable at first but after extended use I find my eyes getting strained easier due to the constant focusing on blurrier text and details. It makes the 240 hz honestly unusable for me and I’d rather just get a clearer image at 120 hz. I tried to capture the difference between 240 and 120 modes in my photos which really shows that they are not that different in picture quality but in real life after extended use it does become an issue for me and I’d rather just stick with the clearer image. Speaking of eye strain, the glasses do cause me eye strain with extended use so I cannot see myself using these too often which is a shame considering how expensive they are. Another issue with prolonged use is their weight starts to put a lot of pressure on my nose so I end up with a soreness and redness leading to need a break from the glasses. All in all they are a great piece of technology and I am getting what I wanted from them but with the price, features, and issues it’s hard to recommend unless you got money to burn and really need them for your own personal reasons.

The Setup & Comfort Getting the fit right is everything with these glasses. I had to do a little measuring up front, but once I got my IPD (interpupillary distance) locked into that 64-67mm sweet spot, the edge-to-edge clarity really popped. They are lightweight enough for long sessions without digging into the bridge of my nose, though it does take a minute to find that perfect viewing angle. The Gaming Experience This is where the glasses actually shine. I bounce around between PC, Xbox, and the Nintendo Switch, and having a massive, crisp virtual screen makes a huge difference—especially for titles that usually feel cramped on a smaller handheld display. The colors are vibrant, text is highly readable, and there's no noticeable lag whether I'm docked or playing handheld. Pros: Massive, sharp virtual display that acts as a portable monitor. Seamless compatibility across my main platforms (Switch, Xbox, PC). Excellent visual clarity once your IPD is properly dialed in. Cons: Takes a little bit of physical adjustment and measuring to find your perfect visual sweet spot initially. [Insert any personal nitpicks here, like battery drain on your device, cables, or audio quality] The Verdict If you want a portable, theater-like experience for your gaming systems, these are incredibly hard to beat. Just take the time to measure your IPD with a ruler and get the fit right before judging the visuals—it’s entirely worth the setup time.

These are high quality glasses. Ive only been able to connect them to my phone and tablet so far. But let me tell you, well worth the money so far. Once you get the interpupilary distance and other settings right these blow a regular tv out of the water. They follow your head or you can anchor the view. Idk, im trying to make this sound as little like an ai review as possible because theyre truly that good.

The Xreal R1 glasses provide a form factor and experience that a traditional monitor or tv will not parallel. Will it replace your OLED monitor or TV? No, but it does open up a lot of new use cases—some of which are more comfortable, convenient, and/or unique. At my desk, I have a gaming pc, Switch 2, Xbox Series X, PS5 pro. I find myself enjoying the glasses as a neat alternative. If I’m in the mood for a gigantic screen or consuming 3D media, the glasses go on. It is a different type of immersion. This device really shines with the ROG Xbox Ally X. The portability, either around your house or out and about, is a really nice and versatile experience. The 240 hz mode gives benefit even when your devices are pushing lower frames—the existing frame stays on the screen for less time, yielding higher smoothness. Let me be clear—this will not give you additional frames but it will increase the perceived smoothness and responsiveness of what you are playing. On some games it feels drastic but on others minimal. The resolution is reduced(I would say around 20% from my perception). If you have a ROG ally X, this is a good purchase. In terms of comfort, I was initially going to put a lower score because it became uncomfortable after about 20 minutes at the bridge of my nose. I switched to the larger provided nose pads(increase surface area to decrease pinpoint pressure) and changed the arm orientation(there are 3 angles for the arms). This largely resolved discomfort. As far as heat, you can feel an increase in the center of the glasses. It feels a few degrees warmer, but it does not feel bothersome to me. The 3D experience is somewhere between fair to good, with the needle being closer to fair. The glasses support “Instant 3D.” The other modes do not work on my gaming devices. The Instand 3D has 4 modes. The soft/natural modes do pretty good. The upper two modes have a fair amount of instability. Frame rate for 3D is capped at 30 hz. An update for 60 hz will eventually release for these glasses once ready, which should be an appreciable improvement to already passable 3D. The ROG dock is pretty small, and you could travel with it and a console in a carry bag. I do think the ROG + R1 combo makes more sense, however. The Xreal R1 glasses are a nice addition to your setup and portability needs. I maintain the 5 star review because of what it intends to offer. It is not a one stop shop display. However, if you’re looking for a versatile and unique experience, these are a great purchase.

Been using these with my ROG Ally for a bit now and they've genuinely changed how I game on the go. The 171" virtual display is massive without feeling gimmicky — text is sharp, colors are vivid, and the FHD resolution holds up even during fast-paced scenes. The 240Hz refresh rate and 0.01ms response time make a real difference — motion feels fluid and I haven't noticed any ghosting or blur during quick camera pans or fast-twitch gameplay. It's a big upgrade from just using the Ally's built-in screen. Comfort-wise, they're lighter than I expected and the standard IPD range fit me well right out of the box — no adjustment headaches. Plugging in is simple, no pairing or setup drama, just plug and play with the Ally. Great for travel too — instead of hauling a monitor, I just throw these in my bag and I've got a huge screen anywhere. Really happy with this purchase so far.

I did a lot of research before buying these as they meet several needs of mine: 1. Immersive gaming or movies on a massive screen anywhere. 2. 1080p OLED for older gen consoles without an upscaler. 3. Low latency monitor like performance. 4. Unparallelled stereoscopic 3D support for movies and games. These AR glasses fit my needs so well I made a giant splurge and bought two pairs for gaming with a friend or watching movies with my wife in my game room. The perspective and screen size adjustments on these are insane. Some of the reviewers on YouTube did not spend enough time with them and comparing screen distance and size. I can get it so small it looks like a 42" TV a few feet away from my face and so big it looks like a 300" screen (or bigger) in a commercial movie theater. They say 171" screen on the marketing but that is just the default setting. It can go much, much bigger than that. Depending on the distance and size setting it truly looks like an IMAX screen in front of me at a very far distance. The dock brings a lot of versatility to connect anything with an HDMI input. Being 1080p micro OLED displays mean they fit incredibly well with blu-ray movies or consoles like the Xbox 360 or PS3. I know most people want 4K, but I appreciate the decreased resource demand of a lower resolution with the benefits of OLED without upscaling. I love the anchor mode where you can fix the screen anywhere in your room at the push of a button and it really stays there. That helps a lot with the practical use and reducing any chance of dizziness or disorientation. However, my biggest (WOW) moment was the 3D performance. Since the glasses use a separate display for each eye, any native 3D content like 3D blu-rays or select games from around 2010 - 2014 with stereoscopic 3D support can be seen like never before. That comes from the OLED displays showing the two different views simultaneously to each eye. No dimming or brightness hit from active 3D glasses or TV refresh limitations and no crosstalk. It is how 3D was meant to be seen! Some might not like 3D, but I enjoy it and can't wait to try more 3D movies and games with it. The instant 3D feature for regular 2d content is cool to try, but I would say it is mostly experimental at this point as it does add input lag and is only 30fps. As the technology matures, I can see these becoming very common in the gaming community and for enjoying movies in smaller environments. If you have the cash and want something that will bring immersive gaming to any device or location I highly recommend buying these.

i was waiting for these since their announcement. i always wanted a pair of AR glasses and im happy these were it. you can pretty much connect these to anything. phone , pc , ps5, switch , etc. i even connected these to my DJI drone and was able to see the live feed thru the glasses. comes with its own hub which is great. it will cause eye strain first time use but youll get used to it over time. it feels like you can lay back on a couch or bed and throw a huge screen wherever you want to. only get these if you have spare 1000$ you can flush down the toilet. youll be constantly looking for reasons to use this.

Okay these are ridiculous in the best way. Playing on a giant 171-inch screen strapped to your face never gets old. The picture is super crisp, colors pop, and the 240Hz feels crazy smooth when your PC can push it. They're light too, so I can wear them for hours without my face hurting. And the auto-dimming lenses are a cool little touch. Heads up though: update the firmware first thing or you'll run into some bugs and the 240Hz mode won't even show up. Also yeah… $849 is a lot. Not gonna pretend it isn't. Movies could be a touch brighter too. But for gaming? These are the best I've used. No regrets.

So far this AR Glasses has been serving me very well. It’s lightweight and easy to plug and play with my devices. I have the dock installed onto my 5090 and it’s made my gaming even better during late night sessions. With all of my monitors turned off and using this AR as the primary, I have not had any issues in terms of comfort. I would recommend this if you have tried others similar to it and you know what your getting yourself into. Comparing this with Apple Vision Pro is not the best advice. Obviously it’s got its limit. Just like the Vision Pro. Try the device on first before you buy. You might have a big dome of a head and this can get comfortable.

Overall Impression This is hands down the best money I've invested in a product. I cannot express how truly great these glasses are. Compatibility and Setup The glasses work with literally everything thanks to the included dock. Which has 2 HDMI ports a Display port and 2 USB C ports, I've successfully used them with Xbox, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, ROG Ally, and even the Wii. Setup is incredibly simple — it's true plug-and-play with no fuss. For Xbox specifically, when you plug the HDMI into the dock, it acts as an HDMI port for a TV, so you get full Xbox audio output. The built-in microphone on the glasses doesn't work in this setup (as expected), but you can just use your favorite Xbox headphones and you're good to go. Audio Experience The sound quality is excellent for open-ear speakers. At higher volumes, others around you can hear what you're listening to, but that's completely expected with this design. Visual Quality The screen is crisp with awesome Micro OLED panels which have great color and very dark black tones and a high refresh rate that makes gaming feel fantastic. One of the most mind-blowing features is the ability to convert anything you're looking at into 3D including console games!! the results are incredible. Key Features Screen Modes: There are three excellent modes: Follow Mode — The screen tracks your head movement to stay centered in your view. Anchored Mode — The screen stays fixed in one position in your vision. Side View — Displays a smaller screen in the top right or left corner so you can still see the world in front of you. Automatic Dimming Lenses: When the screen is anchored and you look away, the lenses instantly become transparent. When you look back at the screen, they automatically dim to black out the background. Comfort and Customization Comes with three different nose pieces for small, medium, and large noses. PPD adjustment is fully possible through both the glasses software and the dock. Prescription lenses are available directly from the Xreal website. This product has exceeded every expectation I had. Highly recommended!

I bought these because i travel for work and i own the ally x. Ill tell you what these are insane. It may take a minute to learn the controls but its super easy. I absolutely love them and with the OLED screen inside them it just comes together perfectly

I don't think I can go back to a regular monitor setup. I've been using these for about 8 to 10 hours a day and I'm blown away not only with the quality but the convenience. When I had purchased the rog glasses I also set up a triple display and I hardly ever use it just because these are so awesome. For work to have multiple tabs open at the same time. I'll use the monitors if I have to but it says something when I would rather use these than anything else. I highly recommend these. If you wear glasses, definitely get the inserts filled with your prescription, but these are worth it.

Highly recommend this if you want to game anywhere. Works great for travel and the quality is fantastic with multiple options to customize your viewing experience.

I find it difficult to reconcile the positive reviews of this product. The glasses are uncomfortable and can get quite hot, which is a dealbreaker when worn on the face. While it's great to create a floating screen for virtually any USB-C device that supports visual output, the downsides outweigh the benefits, especially when compared to my experiences gaming with GeForce Now or Sony PlayStation Premium Plus streaming on the Vision Pro. While it's important to note the significant price difference between the $3,500 device and this one priced at $850, the issues of bulkiness and discomfort are significant drawbacks. I wanted to enjoy using these glasses with my ROG Ally X, but they simply aren't practical for extended wear.

I have the nreals I bought off of ebay, but both arms on the glasses broke off from keeping the cord plugged in in combination with wrapping the cord around the glasses and keeping them in the case like that. Anyway, these are cooler. I like the upgrade to the pancake lenses, the increased field of view, the option to have the picture fixed in XR, the monochromatic dimming, and the 3D capabilities. I use them for gaming and media viewing. Some gripes I have are obviously the price, but what can you do. Also, the tape seal on the glasses box had been previously opened even though I bought them new, and there is a dead pixel on the right lens. I just checked the return policy, and it's been past 15 days so I can't exchange them. I'll just have to use them slightly borked as they are, until wireless versions come out.

⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5) I really wanted to love the ROG XREAL glasses because, from a hardware standpoint, they are a noticeable improvement over previous generations. The build quality is excellent. They feel substantially more durable, more rigid, and much better engineered than the earlier models. The hinges, frame, and overall construction inspire confidence that they'll hold up much better over time. If your primary concern is hardware quality and longevity, XREAL definitely took a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, that's where my enthusiasm starts to fade. As someone who has owned and enjoyed previous XREAL glasses, I was surprised to find that this newer model actually feels like a step backward in terms of the user experience. Some of the interface features and functionality that I had come to rely on simply aren't there, or they don't work in the same intuitive way they did before. While the hardware evolved, the software experience feels stripped down, and I found myself missing capabilities that made the older models enjoyable to use on a daily basis. The result is a product that feels technically impressive but less satisfying in practice. Good hardware can only go so far when the software ecosystem and user interface don't deliver the same level of polish or flexibility. I kept expecting to discover settings or features that I knew existed on earlier models, only to realize they had been removed or changed in ways that made the overall experience less convenient. What ultimately made this purchase difficult to justify was the cost. At approximately $900 for the glasses alone, plus another $100 for the camera attachment, I found myself over $1,000 invested in a device that I simply don't see myself using very often. At that price point, I expected an experience that would make me reach for these glasses every day. Instead, they've become more of a novelty than a tool I regularly depend on. I don't regret that XREAL improved the physical hardware—I actually applaud them for it—but I wish they had invested the same effort into preserving and enhancing the software experience. If these glasses combined the excellent build quality of the ROG model with the interface and usability of earlier generations, they would have been an easy recommendation. As it stands, I walked away disappointed. The hardware is arguably the best XREAL has produced, but the missing user interface features and the diminished overall experience make it difficult for me to recommend, especially considering the premium price. I wanted this to feel like the next evolution of the platform. Instead, it feels like I paid more for better construction while receiving less of the experience that made me enjoy using XREAL products in the first place.

These AR glasses are a total game-changer. The screen locks firmly in space, so I never have to readjust it while gaming. The built-in audio is crystal clear with great noise reduction, and the 3D spatial sound makes every game feel immersive. The 171" FHD display looks sharp. Super impressed!

Let me preface this by saying that I ended up returning these glasses. I have always been an early adopter of new tech and I know that AR glasses in general are kind of in their infancy. I have been a gamer for decades and have used about every kind of display type since CRT monitors. Over the past few years I have been using a 34" Ultrawide OLED. I have been curious about Micro OLED AR glasses and this product with the connectivity hub convinced me to make the jump. I wanted to see if it could compete with a regular display and I have to say the resounding answer is, no. The build quality and presentation of the product is great, it is truly plug and play ready right out of the gate. They feel comfortable on my face and the weight is not something I feel like I would have to worry about over extended sessions. However, the image quality is just not where it needs to be for this price point. I spent hours dialing in settings, positioning, screen size, etc and I found that the only way I could get an image that I found suitable was by having the screen size far exceed my FOV where I had to move my head to see everything on screen. As you pull the display away from you in the virtual space and thus reducing the image size, the quality also reduces significantly. I understand that this is the limitation of resolution per eye, but still, the ads surrounding these products way overhype the versatility of the screen placement and arrangement. Yes, you can do it, but at a blurry cost. Another feature that this product is highly touting is the 2D to 3D conversion, which is totally unusable. The end result is something that looks very unnatural and it will mess with your head. I had some pretty serious motion sickness, which I have never had an issue with, even in VR headsets. Overall, $849 is a hefty price point and I think your money will be better spent on a nice OLED monitor. I think there will be some niche use cases where you need the compact nature of something like this, but overall I think we are a way off from this tech being a true replacement for traditional displays.
