Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the ROG Zephyrus 14" Gaming Laptop's performance, graphics capabilities, and long battery life. Many appreciate its compact size, portability, and lightweight design, making it ideal for those on the go. However, some users note that the device can get warm and produce noticeable fan noise during use. The lack of a webcam and some concerns about the keyboard backlight are also mentioned.

Quite the powerhouse for its size BUT an issue now

I was looking for a laptop for video editing (Adobe software, so always very demanding on resources) and something I can easily take with me. I love how speedy it feels and overall it does the job quite well. I spent a bit more than I was planning to at the time but I feel like it was worth the money. Unfortunately, since mid-November, the GPU fan has been giving me some trouble. According to Armoury Crate and MyAsus, the GPU fan will often just stop or show that it is speeding up and slowing down. This is a huge issue for me due to me using it often for video rendering which increases the CPU and GPU usage to a point where both fans must be running. Also, there are times when the GPU fan stops and it will sound like the CPU fan is increasing speed over time but the RPM count on both apps shows it still around ~2600 RPM in normal use. I've contacted Asus support and with having to mail it in for repair I don't have any options for work while it is away. They also suggested taking it to Best Buy Geek Squad but that is a $99.99 visit just to take a look. The problem is somewhat inconsistent, though more frequent lately, that I worry it will be working fine the day I try to take it in. Not sure what other options I have but I am a little frustrated at this point because otherwise the laptop is amazing.

This laptop is very powerful and has probably one of the best battery lifes of any gaming laptop (around 10 hours with the discrete GPU off, which works well for when you'll mostly need the long battery life, like class, work, light tasks etc.). When you want its full power you can plug it in and it outputs high FPS in triple A games at 1080p or 1440p. The problems with this laptop start with it's quality control and the overall experience. While it's a very impressive laptop, from my own experience and from what I see online, it's very likely you'll receive a unit with some kind of issue. I went through 2 separate units which each crashed multiple times within the first month of use (under light or no use, often just after starting up with nothing open). While you can just restart and get back to what you were doing, this kind of thing is not very except able for a $1500 laptop. My fingerprint sensor is also off center which looks a bit weird. Maybe that's nitpicking, but for this amount of money, I'd expect alot better of an experience.

    Bios brick

Great gaming computer. The ryzen 9 processors are just too fast to complain about. Teamed with the 3060 seems a little underpowered but it is a 14” laptop. Games ran great. Fans were a bit loud but thata the tradeoff with trying to keep a small laptop with highend parts cool. Had to give it a 3 star because it went into bios update and never recovered. Lol. Took it to bestbuy geeksquad and they gave me a brand new one instead of trying to fix ( thank you). I read threads about the bios update and its a regular thing so not sure why mines bricked after it finished. Hopefully, the next one will be fine. Overall, this is one of the best laptops I have used. For gaming its not a fps monster on high settings but I usually run competitive settings so my fps is mid 100s on most games and high to low 200s on lower end games. 3 stars was due to the bios issue.

      Dear Gigabyte,

We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused if the BIOS flash or update was unsuccessful.

Yes, it is risky flashing the BIOS. If the BIOS bricked or was corrupted during the update process, we recommend that the product be sent it for service to reflash it. Normally, ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or, part that stop working prematurely under normal usage.

If you need more information or further assistance with the warranty for the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than happy to help. Or, you are always welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.

Fastest laptop I've ever used by far. Quiet (most of the time), relatively good on battery life considering the power it's packing, and super portable. I use it for some light gaming when I'm away from my desktop, some pretty heavy Adobe Premiere work, and general note taking in my university lectures and it's been perfect. Got a great deal on it since it was refurbished, would recommend it to anyone looking to save $100 or so.

Very solid machine. I did run into two black screens and it might run a little hot while browsing, but I had the bios updated and everything looks fine for now. The only concern is the larger keys in the keyboard sound a little different. Overall, very nice machine for its price. It doesn't give those complete gamer vibes either, which I liked a lot since I use this for daily work as well.

One of the sweetest laptops I've used! I have had multiple gaming laptops in the past, and absolutely NOTHING comes close to this one in portability given the power. The battery life is absolutely insane. I'm getting 10+ hours when using the laptop for reading/studying and browsing. I've had absolutely no issues with it yet, and it's a superb purchase if you can excuse the absence of a webcam (I bought an external one and it does the job)

This has been an excellent laptop. It is very fast. Having some challenges in getting all of the right drivers loaded. I believe Windows 10 is partial to Intel instead of the AMD chip. I have worked through almost all of the problems. So far, I am very pleased with this laptop. I'm using this for both work and gaming. Work wise it is extremely fast and can handle lots of open programs. Gaming wise, it's great too. Excellent purchase and a great price.

This gaming laptop is really good! It runs every game that I play flawlessly, and the performance is phenomenal. The only thing I would say is that the fans are a bit loud at times and the temperature of the CPU gets a little high at times, but I think you need to turn off something boost. Overall, a great product, definitely recommend.

Great portable gaming computer. It runs a little hot but for its compact size and what it has. Its perfect for that roadwarrior that wants to be able to travel with gaming computer that can handle any game you toss at it. A little bit pricey for what it is but all things considering with the cpu shortages during the covid pandemic and all. It’s mostly available.

I love this thing! I haven’t noticed any issues with it over the past two months. Though, the fan in it is loud and it gets hot to the touch which is why I can’t give it 5-stars. I can play games and stream (without an external cam) without any issues. For the price, this thing is a bit of a beast. It would be nice if the RAM wasn’t half-soddered though.

Every now and then a rarity appears (thank god).especially these days....to change the norm or status quo and makes you think. This small package is just bonkers..I had the first gen and was more than pleased with it (after fine-tuning the tdp, turbo and registry). This gen, it covers almost all bases. GB5 openCL of 59000 vs 89000 in just one gen is just amazing. Gets loud and hot (don’t touch near vents)..rest all is just GR8. Keep updates rolling.
