Great perfomance for price and size. Heats up a bit too much for me with intensive tasks (fixed with increased fan speed, but gets noisy). Screen very color accurate, wouldn't mind if it was brighter. Beware of Quality Control issues, had to exchange mine when i got it (seems it's a common issue

thoroughly impressed with this laptop. i was in the market for a dell xps 13/15 and decided on this considering the price and performance. i can get 10 hours on a single charge if i'm careful with the settings. the keyboard is wonderful to type and about on par with a thinkpad carbon which is unheard of for a gaming laptop imo. glass trackpad is fantastic and the screen is plenty bright

Amazing laptop! I wanted something that was powerful but could also game for when I travel. Battery life is excellent! What I wanted mostly in a laptop was small, portablity, and good battery life. This one is perfect for me. Great performer both video editing and gaming! Love that the dGPU can be disabled to extend battery life.

I've been using this laptop for almost 2 years, and it has been a spectacular product all around. The boot times are quick, rendering for development and videos is fast, and the quality is great. It has survived a long time with me, so I'm very happy about that, as I usually break things, and this one has proven tough, as I've accidentally put it through a lot.

ASUS Laptop TLDR – Look at Pros and Cons below This laptop is quite impressive for its size. This is my second ROG gaming laptop from ASUS and its one of the first small form-factor gaming laptops I’ve ran across. I’ve always had the mindset that bigger is better for computers…how can a laptop compete with desktops? This gaming laptop really pushes the limit, not only does it outperform other gaming laptops but runs circles around my gaming desktop that is now a few years old. Aside from being highly portable, the laptop is thin and has a nice metal casing to it. I like it because it can fit in backpacks and bags much easier than a standard laptop, let alone a 17.3” gaming laptop. One my favorite features that is new to me is the fingerprint scanner. I know they’ve been around awhile and isn’t breakthrough technology, but I love logging in securely without having to touch the keyboard. I’ve had a few issues when the laptop woke up, the fingerprint scanner wouldn’t work and I have to type my pin in, I hope this will be fixed in future updates. Next is the big topic…power and gaming. I’ve been using this laptop for a week, both in gaming and in personal use, and both are impressive. I’ve ran benchmark software to gauge its capabilities before installing any game, and the combination of the RTX3060 and Ryzen 9 CPU don’t disappoint! I ran the following benchmarks and it got great results: 3D Mark (received a “Great” rating), PC Mark (Creative Profile), Crystal Mark, and gets about 33MH/s for mining purposes if you’re into that. I’ve played 3 different games in the past week on this laptop: COD: Modern Warfare, Outriders, Rainbow 6 Siege. I let the Nvidia Experience pick the best settings for each game and it powered through all the games without any lag while looking great. The gaming graphics and sound have been exceptional, but don’t expect much from these built-in speakers, they’re decent but a quality headset is worth bringing with you. The screen is a good size when setup on a small-medium desk and looks real good with the 144Hz display @1080p, motions were smooth and graphics were flawless. For those needing more than 14” screen, it has an HDMI port on the left side which I hooked up to my 65” tv a few times and it looked fantastic, even the surround sound on my home theater was great, so there are options if you think 14” isn’t big enough. Here are my Pros and Cons: Pros: - Powerful for everyday multitasking and excels in high-end gaming - Impressive Portable Form Factor for a gaming laptop - Fingerprint Scanner - Power Profiles - allows you to manually modify what mode you want your laptop in (Power vs quiet performance) - TPM Chip included - allows for encryption with Windows 10 Home in case the laptop is ever lost or stolen, don’t have to worry about your data (automatic with this setup, not Bitlocker though) - Wireless is futureproof – 802.11ax/Wifi 6 Cons (in detail): - No Camera - I rarely use a camera but nowadays with everything being remote it’s a good option to have - Heat Vents and USB type A ports - There are 2 USB Type A ports on the laptop, they’re both on the right side where your mouse normally would be. Depending on what you plug-in, it can interfere with the mouse. Also the Heat vents are both out to the sides, so depending on your mouse position your hand may get hot. - Strange flicker of backlit keyboard - When in an idle or sleep mode, the keyboard lights do a weird flicker randomly even though my lighting settings are set to static in Asus Armoury. - Gets very hot - Any laptop gets hot, especially gaming, but the metal casing which I assume acts as a heatsink to disperse the heat and gets really hot by the power button, almost too hot to touch. Not really a big deal since I don’t plan on touching that area much but think it should be noted. - Power Cord could be longer - Its roughly 5.5 ft, so not too short but it’ll keep you reasonably close to a power source. Carrying a small ext cord would help if you travel a lot. Another notable thing to mention are the quick access buttons above the keyboard for Audio controls and the ASUS Armoury. The Armoury is Asus’ system for monitoring and making system setting changes quickly. I usually avoid these type of “control centers” but it’s actually been helpful and quick to get to. Overall, I think it’s a great gaming laptop at a good price point compared to other laptops in its class. The Pro’s outweigh the Cons in my opinion, and I’m looking forward to adding additional games to play on the road. My next setup I’ve been looking to get into is VR gaming, which this laptop is ready for.

This laptop is great if you are looking for something that is a decently powerful gaming computer, something that is much more portable than most gaming laptops in a 14" form factor, has decent battery life, and is reasonably priced. Overall performance has been good for 1080P gaming. DLSS helps when available too. The computer does get a bit hot. I've had moderate use CPU temps between 40-60C often and under load CPU temps up to 95C. The surface of the laptop and keyboard can get pretty warm. This is all within specs, but also having a gaming PC tower they worried me at first. There are ways of keeping those temps down though if you are concerned about it with Armory Crate or Ryzen Controller. The fans can be a bit loud under load, but that's common of many laptops. When in silent mode the laptop is pretty quiet. The keyboard feels pretty good and was better than I expected. I wouldn't say it's as good or better than a ThinkPad's keyboard, but I think it is better than most that I've used on laptops. Unfortunately with the light silver color the white key backlight doesn't look great and makes it a bit hard to read the keys unless if you are in a dark room. I usually leave the key backlights off unless if I expect I am going to be in a dark room. The trackpad is good. The battery life when on silent mode and using the iGPU is great when doing non-gaming activities. I can probably get 10 hours, give or take depending on what I am doing. If you enable the dedicated graphics card and do things like gaming the battery life is significantly reduced however. Gaming laptops in general don't have long battery life when playing games and this laptop isn't any different, but having the option to have long battery life for casual use on battery is really nice. The screen looks really nice. Good vivid colors and 144hz refresh rate allows for really smooth movement, if can get the frames that high. The screen is 1080P, but I think that for a 14" screen that resolution is fine and looks sharp. 1080P is also easier on the 3060 rendering compared to a 1440P screen. There is minimal backlight bleed, but it isn't that bad. Some people have reported worse backlight bleed, so that is something I'd check if you get this laptop. The screen refresh rate is a little slow compared to fast refresh panels, so there is some motion blur and a little ghosting with fast movement. I think it's still plenty usable, including for FPSs, but if you play competitively you may want to get an external monitor that's bigger and has a faster refresh rate for when you are at home. The refresh rate may bug some people more than others, so that's something I'd check when you get this laptop. The G14 supports Power Delivery over USB-C, but it's not enough to provide as much power as the stock AC cable, so if you set your power profile to performance and you are on the USB-C cable you may be discharging more than you are charging. Something to keep in mind if you plan on using a USB-C dock. The USB-C PD also seems to only charges the battery and doesn't bypass the battery when fully charged, so if you are only using the USB-C PD you are constantly discharging and charging the battery, rather than the PD charging the battery then powering the G14 directly. So I consider the USB-C charging more of just an extra way to charge the battery on the go or for convenience rather than as a good alternative to the normal charger for daily use. The G14 doesn't have a webcam. The specs show this, but people may just expect one on every laptop. If you need to use a webcam you have to buy an external one and plug it in, or use ASUS's software to use your phone as a webcam. The speakers sound really good for onboard speakers. I was impressed. There is a bug where there is some audio hitching when on silent mode, but that can be fixed by changing the Wifi adapter mode to performance. As with almost all AMD computers there is no Thunderbolt ports. USB-C docks, hubs, and accessories are work as the left USB-C port also supports DisplayPort and Power Delivery. Something to keep in mind if you have anything that explicitly requires Thunderbolt. The only other notable issues I've had so far have mostly been driver related. The stock AMD drivers has trouble with some games only detecting the iGPU and not the dGPU. This can be worked around by either changing an environment variable per NVidia's site or by upgrading to the latest AMD drivers. I've found that upgrading the AMD drivers will cause Windows Update to keep trying to overwrite the new drivers with older versions unless you use the Hide Update tool to prevent that. Half the RAM is soldered and the other half is user replaceable, so out of the box you are getting 16 DDR4 3200Mhz (8GB soldered, 8GB card) in dual channel. You can upgrade the removable card and get up to a total of 40GB (8GB + 32GB) but you will be running in flex channel mode, reducing some of your RAM's speed as any RAM above 16GB will not be running in dual channel. While this is unfortunate, it's still nice you can upgrade at all as many laptops now, especially smaller and thinner ones, have all their RAM soldered to the motherboard. Overall I think the G14 is a nice versatile laptop that's a good mix of portability, performance, and value. You can find other laptops that are more powerful or more thinner, but you are most likely going to have to get a larger laptop, pay a lot more, get less performance, or sacrifice something else in return. I think the G14 strikes a very good balance of all of these. You'll be hard pressed to find something this compact with the same performance, and if you do, it'll probably be notably more expensive. Although Razer recently released a Razer Blade 14 with a GTX 3060, which is probably the closest to this laptop at about $300 or so more. That's another laptop to check out if you are interested in gaming laptops at this size.

Unfortunately, this was my only way of getting a NVidia 3060. It is a fast laptop. However, not happy with the cooling/thermal performance as it gets really hot to the touch. I used this 14 inch laptop to travel and game with COD.

This laptop is honestly disappointing. I love how much power it has but you can't even use all that power because the laptop gets so dang hot it throttles down a crazy amount. Also for how much I paid for it why doesn't this have the rog lit keyboard?? This laptop has the worst backlit keyboard I have ever used, I actually keep it off because it makes it harder to see the keys then it is without the lights. I got this thing to play games with no questions as to if it would handle a new game, but I have to worry if it'll even run it at 40 fps.

      Dear Alex,

We're sorry to hear about the unfortunate experience you're having with this model. Please allow us to make your experience with ASUS a better one. There's a possibility that there are background apps and Windows updates causing the unit to perform as it does. What we've observed with the Windows 10 operating system is that once the unit is not being used all background and installed apps including Windows updates will fire up. We would recommend that you check for and install updates. This will cause the unit to run a bit hotter than normal and in turn ramp up the fan speed. We would recommend that the user check for and install all updates for all installed applications. Multiple restarts are recommended to ensure all updates are installed.
We do value our customers and take negative customer service experience very seriously. This is not the quality of service expected from ASUS. We do stand behind our product and we continuously strive to improve our approach and processes in order to achieve customer service excellence.

This little ultrabook format laptop is a massive power house. Don't let the size of processor fool you, its an amazing machine. I've gamed on it for hours at a time, it does warm up but thats what big processors and video cards do. So far I haven't run into a problem that this machine can't handle.

I cose this as my first gaming laptop, and the experienca has been awsome. It runs AAA games preety well, not in very high graphics but medium-high and for engineering (CAD, CAM, etc) software it's been just perfect. Just be aware this laptop heats up to 200 degrees (the CPU) when gaming.

    Awesome Laptop For Audio Production/Dj

So far very good. All the updates went through without much issues. There is a Western Digital update for external Hd that is being a pain. But no worries since for me it is just a thumb drive I have. Also I didn't get the Anime lid, but didn't know it was even a thing until after my purchase. There is no ethernet port but it is simple to get an adapter for it with a hub port. I am using this for Audio Djing and Production. With many Pc Laptops, there has been big issues getting them working well without Dpc Latency (audio pops and glitches and software freezing). This so far has the best response that any Pc I have owned. I did set the performance mode to the highest settings. But even at default very good for audio. The Ram is one 8gig chip replaceable, the other is not. So upgrading is a bit strange. Crucial did not get the correct chip so be careful. I managed to find one through New Egg and shipped from China. A 32gig chip and now running at 39gig usable. Be sure to get the exact specifications of the chip. The fingerprint reader is a bit unpredictable, but I don't mind the pin instead. The keyboard lighting is useless in a well lit room. But awesome in the dark. The build feels very tough and the screen isn't at all flimsy.

A great gift for someone who has a passion for playing games during the break and weekend. With nVidia Geforce this is a great graphics for the super rich colorful graphics. The size of this laptop makes is easy to carry and quickly turn on to start a game, thanks to the RAM to top with 1TB SSD makes it huge store. What better way to spend the time during a pandemic.

One of the absolute best purchases I have made. The computer is fast and reliable. The refresh rate of 144hz is an amazing upgrade from the 60hz i am normally used to. Handles creative applications like Adobe decently, i would say better than the University computers. Its light and keys are responsive. Would recommend.
