Customers are impressed with the ROG Zephyrus 14" Gaming Laptop's performance, graphics capabilities, and long battery life. Many appreciate its compact size, portability, and lightweight design, making it ideal for those on the go. However, some users note that the device can get warm and produce noticeable fan noise during use. The lack of a webcam and some concerns about the keyboard backlight are also mentioned.

Amazing value for 2021, but beware of QC!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decent value, considering you get the R9 5900HS, a 3060(!!!), 1TB storage, and 16GB. Hardware wise it's an amazing product. It works wonderfully, it's fast and pretty too (screen has a little to be desired, but it's made up for by everything else), and for a gaming laptop it is sharp and low key. What more could you want in this laptop? A lot. PROS: -Beautifully made. -GREAT specs for the price. -Gaming laptop that looks like a regular laptop! -Keys are clicky. CONS: -My biggest and really my only complaint about this machine is, I think one of the most important when you're spending a lot of money on a computer; Build quality. It's not good. The laptop feels good on the outside with its aluminum body, but it feels more like plastic on the inside and quite cheap, trackpad included. But, that's a minor gripe really, the real QC issue comes internally. I went through 3 DIFFERENT UNITS and all had the same defect. When the laptop was at any sort of incline there was a rattle on the right side, and it seemed to come from the fan. Not like what you see posted on YouTube and Reddit, where people say it's bearings going bad, more like something getting caught in the fan. No amount of compressed air, cleaning, brushing, you name it can get whatever it is out. Couldn't be solved without removing fan and cooling pipes, which consumes the warranty (which for me is the biggest issue, considering none of these devices were more than a few hours out of the box, new- except one. It's not a good look when it immediately needs to be RMA'd). 1) The first unit I got was open box and it had this issue. It was quite loud and annoying, ASUS told me to have Best Buy warranty it. After spending $400 on an enhanced warranty I said nay nay, I shall not do that. I'll get a new one instead! I lost the very nice discount, but for what I was getting I said absolutely, it's worth it! 2) Second one, straight out of the box, things were good- for five minutes. After I set it up I decided to test the fans for the same sound. At first things were going well, and then I listened very closely and there it was. I went and told my fiancé and came back to try again. This time it was significantly worse and louder. I turned it off and contemplated what it meant to be human and decided to turn it on again and see if it had somehow resolved itself after shutting off. Nope. Even worse, again. Returned that very day. 3) Next day I got another one. This time I had high hopes- surely the third one would be fine, right? Third times the charm? Nah. Same thing. Much quieter, but it was very very slowly getting worse and worse. What made this whole ordeal particularly bad is that this thing was brand spankin' new out of the box! And it still had this issue. I assumed that maybe this is normal (I have never heard something like it before come from a laptop so I doubt it). But, a day later it was getting a bit worse. I decided that I couldn't handle it, that my brand new $1500 laptop shouldn't be doing this right out of the box, especially on #3. So, I returned it. I was heartbroken, because I LOVED the G14. It was exactly what I wanted, but I wanted a commuter laptop, one that would last me a while. I know that in the future it wouldn't be as powerful, but I just wanted something to casually play small games on when I was traveling, but the three units I went through destroyed my confidence in being able to have it more than a year which doesn't meet my needs. I know that gaming laptops tend to be built to be beaten, but this thing was going to get moderately light use as I have a gaming desktop. But they couldn't even make it a day without that... sound. I couldn't see myself using it in two years, and I couldn't see myself getting more than a year without having it repaired or something, which is a shame. I hear things that remind me of it and it makes me anxious. -Keyboard lighting sucked lemons. Right idea, but the actual key design made it poopy and hard to see.

Mind-blown.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never owned a gaming laptop before, or a computer from Asus. I didn’t know what to really expect, but a friend of a friend highly recommended it for me based on what I needed it for. First of all, it is 10x faster than my old laptop. I do not exaggerate. It took my heavily modded Sims 4 game about 20 minutes to start up on my old computer. On this, it takes maybe 2 minutes, if that. I have at least 15GB of custom content. It was able to run Cyberpunk 2077 at over 400 fps. If nothing else, this thing is extremely fast. However, I run into random hiccups that perplex me. For instance, I was randomly unable to force shut it down using the power button after I couldn’t click anything on the screen. These hiccups don’t happen often, so it may be a software incompatibility issue or something of the sort. Honestly, I think it’s Windows 11 that has some kinks. But, I am pleased with the performance of this laptop overall and I do recommend it.

THIS LAPTOP WOULD BE PERFECT WITH A WEBCAM
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The upgraded model of the G14 is everything I could've asked for, especially the battery life. BUT ASUS, put a camera on this laptop. I initially sold my G14 2020 model to purchase a similar laptop with a camera, but there was nothing that met my other requirements more than the 2021 version of the exact same machine, still without the camera. Why would you make the most non-gamer looking gaming laptop (which is one of the factors that makes me love this machine) but not include a webcam because "gamers don't want them." It doesn't make any sense.

Ok
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is no anima matrix in this model. Thats why you can experience the rog quality with low price. But keyboard is needed in my personal opinion. Heat is sometimes confusing. So i returned it .but for those who doesn’t care the heat can get it.

First Gaming Laptop, Amazing
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first gaming laptop and i cannot believe the power this thing punches, especially in this tiny form factor. The monitor might be the only sore point for competitive gamers because of the response time. Wish it had an SD card slot and that the keyboard backlight was a different color. Otherwise love the machine

All round awesome
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device has been great for me as a college students. When I’m in my dorm and plugged into power, it’s a great gaming machine. When I need to pick it up and go to the library, the battery lasts and I don’t need to take the charger. It looks great and doesn’t stick out as a gaming laptop, which I appreciate in class or meetings.

Great specs, but that screen though...
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop looked like everything I could want in a sleek gaming laptop. The specs are great, battery life beats just about every other gaming laptop, and the look fit with my business in the front, party in the back motif. The problem I had comes down to the screen. It's 144Hz, FHD, so it should be fast and responsive when playing games, right? Nope. The response times for this panel are in the range of 25-40ms. That's 10x slower than some of the fastest panels in other gaming laptops. The "ghosting" effect you see when objects smear because the pixels can't change color fast enough was really off-putting to me. If you want to use this with an external monitor or not use the laptop screen for fast-paced gaming, then you should be fine, but I really bought it to be a self-contained portable gaming PC.

Love it
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1 week in and love this laptop. This laptop is lightning fast. Gaming with ray tracing is fantastic. Gets slightly warm but having owned a few high powered laptops. Warm is good. The battery life is absolutely amazing, especially being a gaming laptop. I feel comfortable taking it anywhere and doing my work or gaming.

Mislead when I purchased this item
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The processor and hard drive are great. I wish it came with a better graphics card for the price. I will say that the sales person who talked me into this purchased told me that this would play games at 4k if I had a screen that could support that. Well… it does not. It crashes when I put the settings on the game at 4k connected to my Sony X900H which handles 4k flawlessly with my Xbox series X. I do get 1440p out of this laptop but not 4k. So in all honesty I am mad at this purchase and feel I was mislead because I was willing to spend the money on a PC that could play games at 4k and this one does not… As a PC and a gaming laptop that can handle games at 1440p and lower yea it works great. Load times are quick but it doesn’t perform better or even as good as my Xbox series X.

Works great after turning off automatic overclocki
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing gets CRAZY hot even running super simple games. If you get this machine, do yourself a favor and look up how to modify the Windows registry to turn off the automatic overclocking so you don't roast your fingers. Other than that, this is a powerful machine in a tiny package.

Great for architecture school.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed this laptop for school; I’m an architecture student. Many of programs like autocad, revit, sketchup, rhino, etc. deans a lot from a computer, and so far this computer has been able to keep up. So far, speed and graphics have been able to keep up with design programs and rendering.

CRAZY POWERFUL 14" LAPTOP, No Webcam
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazingly powerful laptop, especially for the size. My one complaint is no webcam. I mean come on asus, this is 2021 the age of video conferences and other virtual events. Especially considering the more business like look.

Issues after a few weeks.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Product was returned. Laptop ran great for about three weeks and then started having various issues. If WiFi disconnected had to restart the entire laptop to reconnect. Graphics drivers froze and crashed constantly when a secondary display was attached. When 'updating and shutting down' would spend 20ish minutes trying to shut down and then eventually blue screen. And other random issues that were not worth the hassle. Really wanted the laptop to work because I loved the size, portability and sound system. But i was within my return window so it was returned. If you don't mind trouble shooting it might be an amazing laptop for you, but not worth the risk for me.

Big power, Little footprint
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read that this was a small laptop but I didn't really expect the power and functionality to perform as well as it does. High specs, and a decent GPU but the laptop itself is basically the size of a chromebook. All in all I am happy with the purchase and will begin putting this machine to the test.

Join the dark side
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop. I bought it so I could do GIS work. Handles reasonable GIS projects with ease and I can game when I get a craving. The screen is very bright, so night mode or bluelight filter glasses are recommended. Otherwise great open box deal
