After changing thermal paste, temps were back to 35C at idle. That’s where my cautionary tale starts. In process of removing the battery connector to repaste, the small metal clip slipped and must have shorted a component on the motherboard. It ran great while the battery charge was active, but the power management did not work. Once the battery was discharged, it could not run. This computer will not run on outlet power alone ( it will run at 0.4 ghz clock speed but that takes forever to do simple things). In effect it is now dead. A major national motherboard repair service was consulted, they do not have the ability to obtain repair parts. Motherboard replacement at almost cost of new computer. Geek squad wouldn’t even touch it when consulted. I have reapplied thermal paste on other laptops. I have connected many other laptop batteries. This is the first and worst bad experience. The battery connector is the worst I have run into. If you don’t want to mess with thermal concerns and troubles of this variety, think twice about this computer. Great performance with only one year of life for me. Search the internet, I am not the only one to have this experience with a G14.

If I had to guess, it had to be a software issue. No thermal problems in terms of the hardware but the keyboard does get incredibly hot during gaming. Wouldnt recommend picking this up unless its on sale!
