Love this computer, how big the screen is and how good the graphics are

I purchased this for Black Friday at $279. At that price this is a very good value if it meets your needs.
The CPU is the standout component, it being a core 5 series 1 (14th gen.). It is noticeably fast with its 5 GHz Max frequency for its 2 hyper-threaded performance cores. It has 8 efficiency cores with Max of 3.8 GHz. All in a 15 W nominal package. The other notable feature is the extra ram slot for a DDR4 sodimm (3200). I added a 16 GB ram module for a total of 24 GB. As a test I took a 1.8 GB GIMP file and did a simple rotate 90 degrees. On my 8 core 16 thread 65 W Ryzen 5700G it took 8 seconds and on this thing it took 8.5 seconds. I'm very pleased.
The storage is a standard 2280 nvme drive which can be replaced. The wifi card is also replaceable if you wish to upgrade from the wifi 6 module that it comes with.
The screen is actually good being an ips panel with decent off angle viewing. It's not bright enough for sunny outdoor work but is much better than any of the other budget screens from ASUS I've seen. It has a glossy finish, so reflections can be an issue.
Ports are decent with 2 type A USB at 5 Gbps, 1 type A 2.0 (for mouse and/or keyboard dongle) and 1 type c USB at 5 Gbps. It has a full size hdmi port and a headphone/mic port.
It idles (electrical power) a little higher than I would have thought.
Overall, at the price I paid this is a great value and workhorse machine for a variety of purposes. Just be aware of it's limitations.

Everything working well so far. Got it for $279.99 between Black Friday and Cyber Monday when it was discounted. Having the newer Core 5 (and not the older "Core i5"), even if it is the low-power class chip (120U) for this price made this purchase worth it. I just hope the comments about this unit having an empty slot for another RAM stick are true so that I could upgrade this later. The size and weight are also awesome for travel and the screen size still displays a lot of detail. I'm not sure if it really had Windows S mode as default as when I tried to switch it to Windows 11 Home, I couldn't. When I checked carefully on Windows settings, it said that it was already on 11 Home, so I did not have to do anything. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.

I purchased this for the quality of the core 5 120u processor at a good sale price. Initial start up was relatively straight forward. Picture clear. Track pad responsive, Internet connection fast, all my peripheral devices functioned (dvd drive, flash drive, SD card reader, extra monitor, Logitech keyboard & mouse. )
However, the installed printer drivers did not work for my mfc printer (they were dated 2006 for a 2018 printer) and would only print on one side. I was also unable to install TurboTax in the windows 11 home safe mode as this software is not available in the Microsoft store.
I switched out of safe mode, loaded my original printer drivers and installed TurboTax 2024.
So far everything is now working.
Still contemplating word processing and spreadsheet software. C:/drive shows MS office 365. I believe I may need to uninstall office 365 to be able to load MS Office 2024. Will see if Asus can advise.
Overall happy that Asus does not have a lot of bloatware on this computer.

This is a great value laptop. I like the size (14 inch). I feel that 15.6 inch is bigger for a laptop. Its decent power, newer processor. It will be great if this have 12/16 gb RAM than 8 Gb for getting maximum power. Screen brightness and qulaity is good. It have USB C for docking but that USB C, do not charge the laptop so its a little down but other than that its a great laptop.

We gifted the ASUS Laptop 120U to our daughter, and it’s perfect for her studies. It’s lightweight, durable with US military-grade (MIL-STD-810H) build, and runs smoothly on Windows 11 S Mode. Ideal for online classes, assignments, and daily use with reliable performance and battery life.

The buy process was easy. The shipping was phenomenally fast (next day). The laptop itself is very nice especially for the price. The reason for the 4 stars vs 5 stars was the operating system (windows) -- it seems in this new rendition the OS takes umbrage when you do not want to establish or log into a microsoft account. I got locked out of the drive when I decided to swap to Linux OS. i keep getting reminded why I don't do windows.

ASUS Vivobook is light and easy to carry around with light use cases, such as writing and office work.
256 GB SSD may be little bit small so don't expect to make this your "major" PC.
