super impressed by this mesh network router system. Took me about 30 minutes to grt it all unpackaged and read the directions and set everything up and do updates. Note, it DOES take some time for the second and third one to connect. like, minutes of just sitting and waiting. but once they connect, very long range and fast wifi. 5/5 stars.

Coming from an IT professional this router combo is a complete piece of junk. In the last 2 months that I've owned this I've had issues with all three routers with them randomly going to a red light and having to do hardware resets and firmware upgrades numerous times to get them to work. Don't take my word for it do some searching on the internet before you buy this garbage. This is the most I've paid for a set of routers for my home and the least happy I am with the product I received.

I was excited to receive my ASUS ZenWiFi BE5000 Dual-Band WiFi 7 (802.11be) 3-Node Mesh system. The box boasts cutting edge 802.11be WiFi7 high-speed (up to 5000 Mbps) performance with coverage up to 6,800 square feet using the 3 mesh routers. While my house is nowhere near that size at 2,100 square feet and the Internet connection from my provider only has Internet Download speeds up to 1200 Mbps and Upload speeds up to 35 Mbps, I see an investment in a mesh system such as the ZenWiFi BE5000 as an investment in future-proofing my Internet access. This ASUS system will definitely handle much higher speeds and more data usage to come, such as if we go to 8K TVs and virtual reality sets. Also, my house is on 3 levels with the Internet cable entering on the top floor, which, in the past, without a superior mesh network system, has had it challenges reaching the lower level with sufficient data flow. I have been a fan of ASUS quality products for years. I have had high quality PC motherboards, monitors and laptops from them in the past. The ZenWiFi BE5000 is my first networking product from them and from its performance so far, it is living up to the ASUS name. Setup for this system was extremely easy. I downloaded the ASUS Router application onto my Android phone and thoroughly read the provided instructions. In the application, I named the SSID the same as my old router and set the password to the same password as my old router, so that all my devices could find and connect to the new system immediately. Per instructions, I setup my phone to connect to the new router's SSID. Then, I unplugged my cable modem for about a minute per instructions and plugged in the power cord of the main router and attached the provided network cable from the modem to the main router. I brought the 2 mesh nodes into the room and powered them on, keeping them and the main router at least a meter apart per instructions. I powered my cable modem back on and turned on the main router following the instructions given by the app. I waited for the modem to sync and then the router to sync with the Internet connection. When synced, the LED light on the router turns green then white. I did run into one hiccup during setup. The main router had trouble keeping the connection and the LED light would change from green to white then to red. I checked the instructions again for insight and found that Bluetooth interference could compromise the connection to the router. I realized that my mouse and my speakers were all Bluetooth connected and that I was setting the router up right in the middle of them. I moved the position of the router away from this group of components and it connected perfectly and stayed stable. Then, from the application, I wirelessly connected the two nodes to the router. They connected within a minute. At this point, I unplugged the two nodes and carried them downstairs. I placed one on the main floor and powered it on. Then I carried the other downstairs to the lower level and powered it on. Both nodes took about a minute and a half to fully sync again and have their LED turn white. I checked that the television and the Roku on the lower level picked up the signal and the Roku showed the WiFi connection as Excellent. After setup, my husband watched shows on the television for hours and found the connection error free. I ran an Ookla Speedtest and got 1438 Mbps Download and 41.62 Mbps Upload with an 11 ms Ping. This is extremely fast and very impressive, especially since it beats the rating of my Internet package speeds. From this experience, I highly recommend the ASUS - ZenWiFi BE5000 Dual-Band WiFi 7 (802.11be) Mesh system.

ASUS - ZenWiFi BE5000 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) Mesh system (3-PK) - White Summary: Budget friendly wireless mesh system. Use: I had a three-node mesh router that I had for a few years. We recently moved across state boundaries and the routers were among the last things that got packed, and not well enough. So, some arrived damaged. I needed a replacement satellite. Unfortunately, they can be scarce or pricey. I had been wanting to try out the ASUS branded routers for a while and figured this would be a reasonable compromise in price and features. My new home has some unique challenges in terms of composition and layout so I knew this would be a challenge. Overall, for the price point, the ASUS performed well enough. This system is a good buy. If you don't have a Wi-Fi mesh system already and you experience issues with optimal coverage in your home, this system will likely solve your needs. ASUS is a trusted brand in our household. If you require some more advanced features including some extra ports at the satellites, these are not a good fit. Each unit only has two available ports. Even using the wireless backhaul, one port is taken up by the uplink to your cable modem on the primary unit. If you decide to wire up your satellites, then a port is taken on each satellite with both taken on the primary unit. This means that you'd have to consider installing additional switches to get ports at the satellites (if that is something you'd like to do). My home comes equipped with a few ethernet ports in key spaces, but missing in spaces where I'd actually want to house some fixed devices like a NAS, speakers, servers, IoT/ smart hubs, etc. While many devices support wireless connections, shifting the wireless stability to the mesh network via the backhaul has worked extremely well for me in previous configurations (i.e. the backhaul tends to be more stable for shipping traffic through than depending on the individual wireless reliability of these devices to client devices on the network. Pros: * Performance. The unit's performance is acceptable. I tried a few tests and compared them against the existing mesh (down one satellite) and found the results similar enough to recommend this unit. * Configuration. The configuration was pretty straight forward. The pairing of the satellites to the primary node must be performed according to instructions. If you need to repair a unit to the primary, it won't work unless it's in the immediate proximity of the primary unit. At least that is what happened to me when the satellite furthest away from the primary unit required re-pairing. I have a long home. Like a row house, but single story. The primary unit was in the front room. The first satellite was placed in a room in the middle of the home. And the final satellite was placed another two rooms down at the end of the home. That last unit couldn't reconnect after placing the unit in its final location after initial configuration. * App. The iOS app is decent. It presents much of the information you need at your fingertips. The navigation is a little weird, but that is sort of expected for management apps. Either way, it arranges top activities prominently. You can also watch as devices move from one satellite to another in the network (walking around with your table and phone). That was pretty cool. I didn't even need to use the web portal to configure the unit for testing as I normally prefer. * Build. The units are about as basic as you can get. They look sleek enough to be out in the open, but they certainly didn't try anything for WOW factor - and that's fine by me. In fact, the small form factor I thought would be a benefit over the larger bulk units that stand out. Aside from the two ethernet ports and the power button and port, you have only a single LED at the front of the unit and reset and WPS buttons on the bottom. When configured, the LED is lit brightly enough. In a bright room, the LED might be barely visible (as was the case with me) so troubleshooting certain things might be difficult. * Future Proofed. Not sure what I mean by this. The unit supports the latest WiFi7 spec and MLO. It even offers to create separate networks for IoT devices to ensure "backwards compatibility," but it doesn't say what it means by that. The unit supports the standard 2.4/ 5 Ghz frequencies. Cons: * Reliability. The units keep losing their connection to the primary unit. I tried re-pairing a few times and re-pairing works. But then I'd move them to their intended locations, and they would lose connections. Again. The first satellite finally kept its connection. Any testing I performed was through this first satellite. I could never get the second satellite to pair and/or stay paired when placed in its final spot (only two rooms away from the first satellite which itself was only two rooms away from the primary unit). * Performance. The units didn't perform as well as the existing mesh system it was meant to replace. Not huge differences, but still a bit disappointing. My alternative plans are to place these units in the attic where they might be unhindered by walls. If the performance profile doesn't improve, I'll probably revert back to my original Orbi mesh. The bandwidth on my network is presently limited by my DOCSIS 3.0 modem I will be replacing soon as it is limited to 400Mbps.

My cable provider is my source for WiFi. It has been fine in the past, but lately I have noticed some hiccups when connecting to websites. I was thinking it was time to upgrade my mesh system and while I was at it, add some bells and whistles. ASUS is known for its high-quality products. I was looking through some of the features of the app and I was impressed with what it could do. I like being able to control my router using an app, having a guest network, and making sure my data is secure. My house is about 2400 sq. feet, but I have an unfinished basement where the internet comes into the house. That means my devices are spread out over 3 floors with many potential dead zones. I had set up my original mesh system, so I figured this one would install just as easily. I admit I am not the savviest when it comes to technology. But often, installations utilizing an app do most of the work for you. For my first attempt at setting up I was having problems getting the network cable that came with the mesh into the modem. I downloaded the app and wasn’t sure which of the three options to choose for the connection. I panicked, stopped in my tracks, and reconnected my old mesh system. I then emailed ASUS asking if I could connect with a human for tech support. I received an answer via email within 24 hours. Unfortunately, I was dealing with an emergency family situation that involved a nursing home, and I got diverted. In preparation for my second attempt that weekend, I referred to the sheet in the box that said Having Trouble? Call us at 1-812-282-2787. I called within the designated time frame, but after pushing numbers to route my call, it went into a vacuum where there was no ring or even a pre-recorded message to let me know I was connected and waiting on hold. I tried using the app again, but I couldn’t get to the point where I could create the new network. Again, I stopped, reconnected my mesh, and turned my attention to the family situation that had elevated to hospice care. In anticipation of the third attempt, I uninstalled the app, then reinstalled it. I made sure the nodes were in the basement together and then I began the installation process one more. I got much further this time. I made it through the entire process, but I couldn’t get the internet to connect. I tried about five times to follow the troubleshooting steps on the app. I checked the power, cables, and connections. I was stymied. I ended up taking photos of the connections and I sent them to my ASUS support person at ASUS Computer International in California. And once again, I reconnected my mesh system so I would have WiFi for my devices. I am not going to give up with the ASUS Zen WiFi BE5000 Dual-Band WiFi 7 Mesh system. Maybe I had a quirky situation that just requires some tech support to fix it.

      Dear NBCTeach05,

      Thank you for reaching out.

We do understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing connection problems. To resolve the issue, place the router in the center of the area you want to cover, avoid placing the router near metal objects, electronic devices or direct sunlight, position the router on a flat, hard surface and halfway between the floor and ceiling. Additionally, dense building materials, such as gypsum, concrete walls and planks can affect Wi-Fi signal penetration. Also, we recommend updating the Mesh router firmware if it is running with an older version. Firmware is available for download at:  https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/zenwifi%20be5000/helpdesk_bios/ . Furthermore, check if the routers' configurations matches with your ISP's modem credentials. Check if the routers are within 30 feet to the ISP's modem, if not wired with a network cable, and ISP's internet service or connection is working properly or stable. For helpful tips on how to setup the routers' properly, please visit our Product Support page at:  https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1045754/ . Should you need further assistance with the product, please email me at [email protected] and I would be more than happy to help. WiFi 7 Wonder Transformed my Home Network!

Asus designed an exceptional WiFi 7 mesh system. I live in a 2000 square foot 2-story house with a router downstairs on one end of the house. Our wireless signal struggles on the 2nd floor. The Asus ZenWiFi BE5000 mesh system was the perfect solution to my crawling internet speeds on the second floor. The BE5000 offers Wi-Fi 7 with the main unit connecting to your modem, and 2 additional units you can place around your house. My house is full of devices, interference, walls, and it performed well even without a direct line of sight between mesh devices. It can reach speeds up to 5 GB/s which allows plenty of room for future speed upgrades in my house. Setup was extremely easy and the Asus app is intuitive and relatively simple. *Design/Build/First Impressions* Unboxing the Asus ZenWiFi BE5000 Mesh system I was impressed with the minimalistic look. There are three small mesh devices that measure approximately 6x3x3 inches and lightweight, weighing just over a pound. Each unit comes with a power adapter. There's a small LED light at the bottom of each unit that indicates network status. There are (2) 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN ports on each unit, a power port and power button. The white color and basic design allows it to blend in well with any light background. *Setup* Setup was quick. I had the whole unit setup, plugged in, and ready for testing in about 20 minutes. You basically plug-in each unit within 1 meter of each other, install the app, and run through the setup process within the app. Once everything is setup, you unplug the 2 mesh satellites and place them in optimal locations across your house. I had zero trouble with setup. The app is intuitive and easy to use. Features/Specs The Asus ZenWiFi BE5000 offers the latest Wi-Fi 7 technology, and dual-band config with 2.4GHz and 5GHz. It features MLO support, AI Threat Detection, WireGuard VPN support and it's also compatible with Alexa and IFTTT. You can also setup a guest network for visitors. *App* Love the app. I can't overstate this, it's by far the most comprehensive app I've used and I love all of the features. I've got 3 kids and you can set up specific family member profiles for Preschoolers, Elementary, Teenager, and Adults. It has QOS where you can give priority to gamers, live streaming, work professionals or file transfers. There are endless customization options including scheduling, and turning off specific devices (such as your kid's phone at night.) AI Threat protection is not just some gimmick. You can actually see successfully protected events and the specific website that made the attempt. AI will also prevent infected devices from being enslaved by botnets or zombie attacks. Additionally it protects devices from Spam or DDoS attacks. I'm not going to list every feature but this app gives you complete control over your Wi-Fi mesh network. I feel much more secure with every device on it. *Performance* I have 500MB Internet speed that typically measures around 560 MB. Plugging the main unit in I tested speeds of 560 MB at the base unit by the Modem. I had a choice of putting my 1st mesh unit close-by on the 1st floor, or I could make my way up the stairs and drop in the 2nd unit. I decided to take a risk and head upstairs. I have a small gamin corner in the bonus room at the top of the stairs and I placed the first unit on an entertainment shelf. These unit are small so they can fit about anywhere, but you need to keep in mind that it will need to be about 4 feet from an electrical outlet. I then proceeded to walk all the way to the last room on the 2nd floor and place the 3rd unit at the back wall. Speed test was nothing short of amazing. Upstairs, at the far end of the house, I measured 560 MB!!! The exact same speed I was pulling at the modem. I was looking for improved speeds with a mesh system but the Asus ZenWifi BE5000 knocked it out of the park. Tips: Amber LEDs mean there is a firmware update. You can also add existing Asus routers to the network. *Conclusion* If you're thinking you need a mesh system to improve Wi-Fi, I highly recommend this system. I live in a 2-story house with devices everywhere so I'm sure there's a lot of interference. The ASUS ZenWifi just cuts right through all of it. It's easy to install, the speeds are amazing, and the app is everything I want to control my network. 5 enthusiastic stars! *Pros* * App is top-tier, full of customization and controls * AI Security (Real Security, Not just fancy words) * Maintains speed in every corner of my house * Wi-Fi 7 * Easy installation and low profile design * Wired support * 2 wired ports per unit (Good backup option for legacy devices) * Reliable connection * I didn't need Line of Sight, it moves through walls and significant interference * Expandable (you can add additional nodes) *Needs Improvement/Suggestions * No wall mount * Dual Band, No Tri-Band 6GHz Highly Recommended!

The ASUS ZenWiFi BE5000 Dual-Band WiFi 7 (802.11be) Mesh system (3-PK) is a capable mesh system. I did have trouble with the setup, which should have been easier. First, I was able to easily set up the router (1 of the 3 nodes will be set up as the router, as indicated by its sticker), but I couldn't get it to connect to the internet. Once I finally reset it and my modem several times. I did have internet. But when I began trying to add the satellite nodes, the internet was lost again, and the nodes would not pair. I tried resetting the satellite nodes, but still no luck. After trying over and over, I decided to reset everything and go back to square one. This time, after fiddling to get the internet connected, everything finally went online. I placed the satellite nodes where I felt they would be the most effective and after a short time, they connected back up. I did set it up having 3 networks - my main one is for internet surfing, gaming, streaming, another is the IoT network for all of the various smart lights, smart plugs and other small devices and then one more for guests to use. I then made sure all of the devices were connected. I did keep the main network the same so that some things would automatically connect. At this point, I have approximately 34 devices connected between the 3 nodes. They attach themselves automatically and I do find that there is some switching between the 3 nodes. When I see in the ASUS router app that a device has attached to a different node, I can say, I don't notice any difference in performance - it is a very smooth transition. This system has been working fairly well for me. In the beginning there were issues but those seem to have been mostly resolved. I am still having trouble with the node in my bedroom which is at the furthest point from the router in my office. It is staying connected, as is the entire system, but I am unable to connect to my cable box in that room. I will continue to work on that. This system claims to cover 6800 sq feet, so I should be able to connect anywhere in this 1,900 sq foot,1 story house. Each node has only 2 wan/lan ports combined, so be sure that is enough for your needs. I want to be entirely wireless, except of course for the modem to router connection, so the number of ports is not significant to me at this time. But it may be important to me later on, as things evolve and change. This ASUS ZenWifi system does come with some protections for security and those are free for a lifetime. There is also a QoS setting. I was able to set up my Quality of Service prioritization - I prioritized streaming and gaming because they are the most important to me. ASUS claims this system can support up to 200 connected devices. So far, I have 34 that are currently connected and 17 that are showing as offline. I think for me, a 200 connected device limitation will probably be sufficient for at least a few years to come. They also say you can add up to 50 satellites! That's an awful lot - absolutely sufficient for growth. The 3 nodes are each the same size at approx. 5.5"H x 5.5"L x 2.75"W and each weighs just a tad over 1 pound. Overall, I would say the ASUS ZenWiFi BE5000 Dual-Band WiFi 7 (802.11be) Mesh System (3-PK) is more than adequate for me at this time. Once I got past all of the setup issues, my connection has been stable. I am able to stream without it pausing to buffer, internet surfing is quick and gaming is smooth. My IoT devices are doing their job without issue, and these carry a 3 year warranty on both parts and labor. I would definitely recommend this mesh system to anyone interested in a good quality connection.

Purchased this mesh system for my house, but could not get the main router to connect to the internet. ASUS support told me it was a defective unit, after 7 hours of troubleshooting. I returned my bad unit for a new one, which again had trouble connecting to the internet. Finally got it connected and it worked well. Connection speeds were good and the range was only OK. Had it for 50 days with limited issues before the power went out and I could not get the device to reconnect to the internet. After 3 hours with ASUS support, they said to ship it to them for a physcial review. I will have my device back in 14 business days. I will be looking for a new brand.

Initially, i placed thrse units too far apart. Each unit was probably 25ft apart and going throuvh 2+ walls each. It struggled to keep reliable internet speeds. I have 1 gig internet and a speedtest was topping out at 100mbs. Once i moved them a bit closer (probably 15ft apart each), they work much better. Im getting ~500mbs on a speedtest now.

The installation was very simple. Right out of the box. The base unit was clearly marked and the other 2 satellite routers connected first try. These mesh routers provide excellent coverage for where it was installed. Not a spot in the home with less than 3 bars of signal.

This was a pain to deal with from day one. What should have been an easy install took a day of troubleshooting all my other connected smart devices. Once I finally got it all running it barely worked better than the Nest system I replaced, by a small fraction. Now a few months after I am having problems non stop to the point where I can barely get signal to the furthest access point, and my wired devices constantly get booted offline due to random software issues. The only thing that helps is a system reboot, so be ready to have to login to do that randomly.

      Dear Chris,

      Thank you for your comment.

We do understand your disappointment with this Mesh routers and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing weak wireless signal. To resolve this, place it in a central location within your home, away from walls and obstructions, keep it elevated off the floor and away from electronic devices that may cause interference. Check if you succcessfully setup your main router first before setting up the nodes.
Also, we recommend updating the Mesh routers' firmware if running with an older version since you are getting a software issue. Firmware is available for download at:  https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/zenwifi%20be5000/helpdesk_bios/.

Should you need further assistance with the product, please email me at [email protected] and I would be more than happy to help. Or you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent from the link: https://www.asus.com/us/support/article/1135/.

Got AT&T Fiber. The mesh system they gave me would disconnect all the time. Replaced with this. Speed from main router is Excellent. Speed from mesh nodes in about half of this. Have to have high speed initially to make this work all over the house. Connections have been solid for about 6 months now.

I am delighted to share my experience with the mesh network. It has been a game-changer in resolving connectivity issues. The setup process was remarkably straightforward and user-friendly. The improved coverage has eliminated dead zones, providing consistent signal strength throughout the house. Ultimately, the whole family, including my mom, is now enjoying a much more reliable and stable internet connection.

Setup was challenging with a Spectrum modem, but after finally getting it working, it has been pretty flawless. I ended up getting a new modem from spectrum and factory reset the router, then I was able to have the router obtain an IP address from the modem.

Setup was easy. I wish I could say more, but this system isn’t compatible with some Spectrum modems and I wasn’t able to get any further than that. Giving it 4 stars because their help desk was actually helpful.

Had this for about a month and at first. I was working fine. After a week or two, I’ve noticed that third one was having issues staying connect with the other ones. Near the end of the month, it would just cause major connection problems. Haven’t moved it and had restarted several times, but would always have a week signal. Eventually, the second one started to have issues as well. honestly, it could’ve been just me, but I’ve heard other people have the same issues

      Dear Snazzy,

      Thank you for your comment.

We do understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience this may have caused if you started experiencing connection problems with two of the routers. To resolve this issue, please try to power cycle both the Mesh router and your ISP's modem. Additionally, check if your ISP's internet service or connection is working properly or stable and check if the router's security credentials matches with your ISP's modem credentials. Also, we recommend updating the Mesh router firmware if it is running with an older version. Firmware is available for download at:  https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/zenwifi%20be5000/helpdesk_bios/.

Great starting system for those just getting into creating a mesh network. Good range while I’m outside. The system had to reset for each change though so your network down every time you change something.

The overall performance and setup of these is quite good and pretty user friendly. If you're looking for really decent WiFi 7 performance at a low-ish price, this is the place to go. I was thinking about switching to tp-link for my mesh needs but this system fits perfectly in my setup.
