Don't mess with Charlize
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was treated to a nice surprise today with “Atomic Blonde,” starring an astonishing Charlize Theron as a don't mess with me secret agent. Other films I’ve seen featuring lady tough guys (I’m thinking of Angelina Jolie and Uma Thurman) were not believable and came off as politically correct attempts at gender equality. Not this one. The “we’ve seen it before” script (British intelligence is jeopardized by a double-agent) was transcended by three factors: the sheer beauty of Atomic Blonde’s cinematic composition; the thrilling choreography of the fight scenes; and Theron’s screen magnetism. Her powerful, intelligent performance and natural beauty transform what might have been a B-movie into something really special.

Entertaining Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Movie has great visual and sonic impact. I really liked this, much in the same way I liked John Wick the first time I saw that film. One thing I noticed about this film that seemed different than most standard fare Hollywood films was the sound editing. The soundtrack of music from the 80's seemed to be much more forward in the audio mix, not just as background. Also the music was projected from all of the surround speakers. It was different, but I enjoyed it. My wife and I purchased this steelbook edition mainly because of the customer service, we were seeking a not steelbook edition. We went to 2 stores that said they had the movie available in 4K but neither were able to locate them when we arrived.

A great spy thriller
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a fun spy movie with lots of twists and turns. I didn't really understand the whole movie until I re-watched it, and even then I might have missed some details. The picture quality is pretty good, although some shots are quite noisy. The audio was decent, with good stereo separation when songs are being played and some ricocheting bullets at the end, but overhead speakers are rarely, if ever, engaged.

Boring movie with flat Grey image
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I expected so much better than I got with this movie. It should've been John Wick in the 80s. It was just a by the numbers uninspired spy flick with a couple of decent fight scenes. And the 4k is nothing special. Skip it.

This blonde has more bruises than Rocky
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Charlize Theron seems to get into tuff movie characters (Previously Mad Maxx)... The Atomic Blonde gets into some really hard fights and seems to dish out just a little more than she receives. Then she takes a bath in a tub filled with ice cubes to dull the pain. It's unusual to see a sexy lady in an evening dress with bruised, a busted lip, and a black eye! Now that's a tuff night! The spy part keeps you guessing as to who are the good and bad guys. Is it the Russians, the East Germans, the British, or the Americans. This all happens during the time the Berlin wall came down. I liked this movie, but I have a full Bond collection. So I have a preference...

Atomic POPS on 4K!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a huge fan of The Raid, The Raid 2, John Wick and John Wick 2 so when I heard about this film I knew I had to see it. It did not disappoint. While the story is nothing special the presentation more than makes up for any plot shortcomings. The thoughtful visuals combined with the cool 80's soundtrack will blow you away! I've cranked this up on my Yamaha receiver and BOOM! All channels firing away! The image on my Sony XBR 70 inch looks beautiful. Pick this one up. You will not regret it!

Decent movie and UHD. Great packaging.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the look of this steelbook. The movie itself is fairly mediocre. The picture quality of the UHD is very good. The quality of the DTS:X track is a bit underwhelming. Overall a mixed bag.

Video Quality is phenomenal!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw this in theaters and I liked it. Didn’t love it. The hallway sequence is definitely the highlight of the movie. The plot gets a little too muddled by the end. However, visually, this movie is a phenomenal. The color palette chosen was perfect. Every scene was meticulously lit, and it shows. The 80’s soundtrack is also top shelf. If you love stylized action movies like John Wick, I would recommend this one. Just know, the plot is more complicated than it needed to be.

Kickin’ butt!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Charlize Theron kicks butt! I like her best when she is knocking the bad guys to the ground and she does that very well here....tho I could go without her nude scenes-she doesn’t need to show skin to make a point-she has enough cred to her name to bypass all that. Nonetheless-like everything Charlize does-its magic; it’s gold! There’s only a hand full of actresses who can do it all and she’s leading the pack on that. The woman can play anything!

Fun Action Movie on 4K Blu Ray
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was one of my first few 4K blu ray pick ups. I wanted a decent action movie to watch on my new 4K TV. Overall, this movie was a lot like John Wick type of action but more of a spy movie taking place in Germany during the late 80s. The 80s music soundtrack was great on this. The action was good, but the story was slightly weak and didn't really completely hook you. The 4K image was excellent - I would not say its demo reference quality, but it comes close. I do recommend this movie if you like action movies and want to see them on 4K display.

Atomic Blonde 4K UHD
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Charlize Theron stars in an action driven, violent film as a secret agent in Germany during the Cold War. Plenty of action, hand-to-hand fighting, and great 80's sounds i.e. New Order. There is a brief lesbian erotic scene, but nothing extreme. Picture quality is fine (4K UHD) dialogue is clear, extras are minimal. Overall great addition to your 4K UHD library.

Brutal action & stylized photography.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set in Berlin days before the Wall is torn down, this espionage flick pits Charlize Theron against almost everyone. It’s a trust-no-one search for a secret list of all spy activities AND a sought-after double agent. Toby Jones & John Goodman play MI-6 & CIA supervisors & Alan McAvoy is pretty great as her wild & perhaps untrustworthy contact. The lighting/color schemes are fantastic looking & some great 80s new wave & synth pop songs pulse through the action. It’s directed by a stuntman & the hand-to-hand combat is brutal.

Charming Ladies; Dull Story

ON the edge of UR suspense chair!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive been a fan of Charlize Theron for years, & yet, was hesitant (really!) to purchase this BlueRay disc...WAY happy I changed my crazy-vascillating mind! Excellent story, & yet, ONE that requires a LOT of attention for the REAL STORY line...sorry, am NOT a spoiler-alert kind of guy! IF U like international suspense with some VERY hard-kicking beat-downs from a woman that is showing HER side of the "Stronger Gender", & eventually turns the story on it's head, then check it out! EXCELLENT!

Action with a few good twist
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice to see a female playing the main role and not playing the weaker person in and action film just because she is a female. Her ability and determination to finish her mission with a few twins along the way was nice. Hope that we see more of her character either a sequel or something similar. The ending was not disappointing or week, a little humorous and neat.

Best Movie Ever!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lets look at the box, it's blue. It's wrapped in a clear wrapper and practically invisible to the naked eye. The movie came with a little flyer inside recommending other movies. And lets dicuss the CD inside, it's round. The picture is good the lady is nice and the movie, well it's like another movie with a different actress. But still good it's also got that other actor from the movie where he is a man. Its a good movie, atomic scenes, and a blond wig

Great Action Flick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of my favorite movies of last year. The movie is based on the 2012 Graphic Novel "The Coldest City". It was directed by the co-director of John Wick. Ok so this takes place in 1989 & Theron plays an MI6 agent sent to Berlin to recover a list of spies before the KGB or CIA get it. I appreciated the fact that the fight scenes were realstic. It also features a very good 80's soundtrack. The blu-ray has 2 commentaries, del/ext scenes, & 4 features.

Super Atomic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loved that this took place in late eighties Berlin, right before the wall coming down. Incredible soundtrack if you like 80's Electronic/Techno Pop! And as a guy who enjoys beautiful women, Charlize is as hot as it gets. She trained for and does her own fight scenes, impressive in itself. Loved the look of this film, an interesting mixture of cold, dark Berlin with a brightly colored nightlife for contrast. Recommended!
