There are still a few quirks but all in all this is by far the best wifi smart lock available today! Setup is easy, works great with Alexa. Apple Homekit has more of a setup issue but that is common with Homekit. Alexa works seamless. The app is solid also.

I've been looking for good smart lock. All of the kwikset reviews scared me until one day I ran into August. it's easy to install and works incredibly well. I didn't realize it would Auto Unlock as you came home, big plus in my book. money well spent!

Install took a little longer to connect to wifi and only those designated as “owner” have the ability to lock or unlock over internet. Others users need to be within wifi range. While this works well for an rental property, there are, as in my case, users that would benefit from locking or unlocking over the internet without having all the settings privileges and password(s).

This is by far the most frustrating lock that we have ever owned. The lock keeps disconnecting and connecting to the wifi every few hours. We bought the additional keypad and the keypad sometimes works and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes it deletes all of the codes and we have to set them up again. Currently we are on the 5th day of it not working. You might be thinking that it is the batteries but we have installed two fresh pair of name brand batteries and the keypad lights up for a second but does not work or will work one time before not working again. The router is about 15 feet from the lock so the signal strength is not an issue specially when we can have our phones working in the yard about 100 feet away just fine. We had another brand of lock that worked perfectly for 10 years and never had an issue. If you want to be frustrated and feel like you wasted your money then this is the lock for you. Otherwise do yourself a favor and choose brand.

Great lock but definitely has some issues. Seems to jam frequently and bought the wifi attachment for the house and that drops signal all the time. Works great when it actually works. App is super easy to use and set up. Really only got this ;lock because I could not have anything on the outside of my door so this was pretty much may only option.

This smart lock is for standard household bolts. Initially bought this for my condo which uses a commercial lock and a wing bolt that does not allow for the use of the adapters. But I did install it at my home and the installation was very straightforward. You’ll get used to the app features along with the finicky smart commands with Google and Alexa. Make sure you have good wifi. Enjoy!

Absolutely worth every penny. I bought this lock to install in my new house. I wasn't able to live permanently until 6 weeks after closing. This, combined with a ring security system have made me confident all is well in my home. I was able to use the remote lock/unlock feature to allow carpet installers into the house while I was out of state, thus enabling me to get the job done prior to my move. Forget about giving a friend or neighbor a key to check in on your house and pets, just invite them to the app and control when they can unlock your door and when they can't. Amazing product. Exactly what I wanted. Easy to install and the auto lock feature is brilliant.

I own two of the locks and have had issues with them. I put both of them on my back door which I use to enter my house 90% of the time. Issue #1 I want both of them to unlock when I arrive home. However, the app only allows you to have one lock open automatically based on location. I have one on my security door and one on the “regular” door so I need more than one lock to open based on location. I even tried to set my wife’s phone to connect to the “2nd” lock so both unlock when we get home. However, both locks unlock with location approximately 30% of the time. Issue #2 I have the Apple Watch app that is supposed to work to unlock the locks. This takes 10 seconds to a couple of minutes to work depending on the day. I can just unlock the door myself if it is going to take a couple of minutes to unlock it using the Apple Watch app. Issue #3 The batteries need to be changed approximately every 4-6 weeks. That is an added cost that I did not expect. Issue #4 It does not work with the Ring Alarm system. I wanted the unlocking of the door to automatically turn off the Ring Alarm like some of the other smart locks.

I hope the next generation supports 5ghz Wi-Fi and is much easier to install. The lock also needs to have a removable and rechargeable battery included ( two would be perfect). The function is fine, but having to turn off 5ghz Wi-Fi to get an install done is unnecessary with today’s technologies. Also, reducing battery waste needs to be a priority for all manufacturers.

The 4th generation is nice, definitely smaller than the previous, unfortunately it has a difficult time connecting outside 10 to 20 feet forcing you to buy the wifi bridge which adds 78 dollars to the price, so we shall see how well that goes once it comes in tomorrow.

Pirchased this door lock about two weeks ago and its been great. Absolutely love the fact that my door automatically unlock my arrival. To have it work with my google and alexa via voice is just a big bonus.

install was very easy. Just a screw driver to take off he inside part of deadbolt and literally clips on. I guess it is smaller than previous generations but it is still a good size but acceptable, Sometimes a get messages that it has dropped wifi and then reconnects. not often and does not seem to affect operation. I did have to recalibrate it once after doing it during the initial install. Not sure why, but seems fine now.

First I bought a Yale smart lock with August, however it did not fit my door I bought this August smart lock no hassle with installing, the software works flawless, if you are not too much concerned about the touchpad this is the Way to go, Also the motor is extremely quiet. My daughter gets separation anxiety when we go outside so we have to sneak out but this lock opens and closes so quietly no problems. Highly recommend

Love my new August lock. Couldn’t have been easier to install and connect. Only drawback and reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is no way to know how the batteries are doing until they are going dead. The app should have a way to give you a heads up but it does tell you when they are going dead so there’s that. If you want a smart lock get this one, super easy and works great

I installed this on my own and have never enjoyed an instillation process more. The instructions go step by step with the app which shows you video clips of exactly what you need to do. I live in a much older home and was curious if it was going to align but there are many ways you customize it to your door. I love that when I leave and come home it locks for me, just know you need to keep the app running in the background to do so (not a big deal) I have used many smart devices in my home and this in one of the few i have not had to reconnect to the wifi or anything like that. Would suggest to anyone. Last favorite item is how easy the guest keys are, send a text to your desired contact, they add the app and BOOM customizable access

I got this for my new house with so many contractors going in and out. The good thing is that it doesn’t require internet or power in order to keep running though Bluetooth. It’s very effective and I don’t know how I lived without one. I opted for the keypad since that’s the easiest way to lock it. I wish there was integration with ring alarm to cut down a step.

The August WiFi Smart Lock is easy to install and configure, and seems to be working flawlessly.

I love this when it works. I use the geofencing which is awesome. Unfortunately sometimes it says it is disconnected from the network (not the internet, I stream with no issues) and other times it says it is jammed and one time it kept locking and unlocking and I had to manually unlock and lock a couple of times to get it to stop.

August Smart lock is very easy to install and easier to use. I love how I can interact with this smart lock anywhere and time. It’s made my life a little be easier

Love the august platform and interface. I bought this because there is no wifi bridge needed, the only thing i'd like is easier setup for those of us who run a mesh network that merges 5 and 2.4.
