Allows you to connect your older monitors to new laptops with only HDMI. No sound that I am aware of I am not sure if older monitors allow for the pin out.

Great for multiple monitor single laptop or PC use

It allows you to have Multiple windows open for multi tasking which is great especially if you work from home.
