Awesome Vacuum

This vacuum is the best I have ever used. The vortex design allows for no loss of suction. I have two pets, one of which sheds a lot. This vacuum has no trouble cleaning up the shedded hair, and the handy attachments make for ease of cleaning upholstery and corners.

Best Vacuum Ever Purchased

Awesome vacuum. Really picks up a lot of dirt, shows you that the old vacuum was inferior. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it is very heavy, otherwise I think it is the best vacuum I have ever purchased.

After spending much more on the last vacuum (Sharps model) I was hoping to find a quality vacuum, without spending KIRBY $$$$.. Got this home and had it put together in 10 minutes.. I had just vacuumed the carpets with the pathetic and loud SHARPS before I used the new BISSELL.. I could not believe how much more dirt, dog hair, and dust it picked up. I had to dump it twice..(bagless is pretty gross).. hose for the stairs is a bit short and it could use more attachments.. It would be nice if the cord was retractable..

Did alot of research on this version of vac versus the Dyson. Read many reviews here and at other stores to try to justify spending the money $400+ on Dyson or $250 on Bissell. After seeing both in action did not see any difference other then the price. I went with Bissell. After getting home with new vac I put it together (1 screw) took longer to open box.. But after starting to vac with It I was absolutly amazed with how much stuff it picked up. I had to empty the can 4 times just on the upstaris rooms alone, could not beleave it. Made me wonder what my other vac was doing (nothing).. My old vac was a Dirt Devil and there is no comparison, it is now in the trash waiting to be picked up..

Well designed vacuum

First of all, "bagless technology" does not necessarily mean no-fuss emptying of contents. It means you don't have to suddenly notice you have no suction in the middle of your household chores and have to run to the store to buy new bags that may or may not be in stock for your particular model. The work around is to put the canister inside of a plastic garbage bag while emptying the contents (but then is it truly "bagless"?).
The features that prompted me to buy this vacuum:
1. Great customer reviews
2. Hepa filtration
3. Long 35' power cord
4. 15” wide brush bar.
5. Edge cleaning brushes on both sides of brush bar.
6. Power cord attaches high to avoid entanglement during use.
7. Well-placed attachments--particularly the telescoping wand and crevice tool.
8. Large rear wheels make pushing easier over thick carpet.
9. Headlight
10. 5-year factory warranty on parts and labor.
11. Doesn’t look garish.
The features I found I liked after taking it out of the box:
1. Power cord is very flexible unlike our previous vacuum.
2. Long hose.
3. Great suction.
4. No disassembly/reassembly to convert from brush bar to hose--simply pull the hose from the conveniently located port and insert the attachment.
5. Separate power switch for brush bar located conveniently next to master power switch on handle.
6. I like clever gadgets and the Turbo Brush upholstery attachment is very clever and easily accessible.
7. Brush bar automatically turns off when handle is in full upright position unlike our previous vacuum which, if left unattended in that position for too long, would wear a bare spot in the carpet!
8. Tipping is generally an issue with uprights when using the hose, but as the manual states, leaving the hose attached to the bottom clip mitigates that problem.
9. Comfortable handle grip.
10. Low profile cleaning head gets about 6” under openings of just over 3” in height.
Features that would have been nice in a vacuum in this price range, but would have probably meant sacrificing some other more important feature:
1. Retractable cord.
2. Dirt sensor.
3. Height adjustment located more conveniently than on cleaning head.
4. Lighter weight
In summary, the engineers really spent some time laying out the design of this product and have produced a very easy to use product.

A Great Value

This Bissell 5770 is awesome. Sure, it's weighty, but in a good way that makes the unit feel solid. The attachments are solid, and the long power cord lets me get more done without unplugging the unit often. It pulled tons of dirt out of 3 carpets that I thought were relatively clean.
It's made of plastic, so I imagine a hard drop might break a piece or two, but replacement parts are readily available on Bissell's website. And it seems to like wrapping hair around the brush, but that's easily cut away from time to time and sucked up with hose attachment.
For the price, I don't think the 5770 can be beat!

Super Great Vacuum

Well, originally we were going to purchase a Dyson, but we weren't sure about spending that much money. So we kept looking at reviews and found this to be ranked pretty much just as high as a Dyson. After purchasing and using on both tile floor and carpet, we couldn't be happier! Extremely easy to put together, the power hand tool is just great, and the vacuum as a whole is absolutely wonderful! It's also nice and quiet, especially compared to our old vacuum. I don't think you can go wrong with this vacuum, especially compared to other vacuums at a higher price.

We bought this vacuum after our other Bissell went out on us. We purchased it based on peoples reviews. Definately better than our other Bissell. Taking into consideration that it was a little heavy as people were saying, we love it! It is definately just as powerful as a Dyson and way cheaper in price. Well made. It also comes with a 5 year manufacturer warranty. It is no big deal if you live by an authorized Bissell repair shop like us, but if you don't then its always good to get an extended warranty as a vacuum gets used alot. Highly recommend!

Great Suction, Poor Quality

This vacuum has great suction and really picks up the dirt, pet hair, fibers, etc. I've had mine for a little over a year and it has cleaned great. It is very heavy and hard to maneuver which is definitely a drawback. About a month ago the floor power brush began working sporadically and would go off and on while vacuuming carpets. Last week it quit working completely. The vacuum still sucks, but no power to the carpet brush. After calling Bissell and trying to fix it myself, I decided that was hopeless. I called a local repair shop and they said it would be a minimum of $100.00 and could be as much as $300.00 to fix. This is the second Bissell product I have had that I have experienced problems with. The other was a Pro Heat Carpet Cleaner. I think it's time to go back to Eureka or some other brand.

Great Suction!

This vacuum is great. Most reviews say it is heavy. To me it's the type of "heavy" that comes with a quality vacuum. I am no body builder and I had no problem pushing it. We tossed our old featherlite dirt devil out and are so pleased with our new bissel. Our old vacuum was only 3 years old and just wasnt working well. That was proven to me when I brought this vacuum home and used it in our family room. Lets' just say I was grossed out by what was in the dirt cup. To think that had been on my floor and my old vacuum was just going right over it. Emptying the cup was easy and it also recommends you empty it into a plastic bag and then in the trash if you have allergy sufferers in your home. That's a wise idea. It has a long cord as well as a long hose to extend and vacuum your stairs, corners, fans, etc. The only filter that you have to replace is the airtight hepa which was $15 at Best Buy and has to be replaced about twice a year. That's a lot less than some filters cost. The other filters can be rinsed to clean. This vacuum has worked great for us so far and as with any item, if taken care of I hope will last us a long time. I have two sons. My husband, the boys, and myself all suffer from asthma and allergies. It looks like this vacuum sucked up quite a bit of dust and junk in the carpet that my other vacuum missed and with the microban and hepa filter I am hoping to see some relief!

Great Vacuum, Great Features

This Bissell vacuum is much better than the first Bissell we purchased. It has the option to turn the floor brush off when you are cleaning so it doesn't shoot dirt across the floor like previous models. The hose stretches really far, and the turbo brush attachment work really great for the couch and around the coffee table so I don't have to move it to vacuum around it. It is a little heavy and bulky, but pretty much so are all the others. Overall, I really like it.

I really love this vacuum! I've gone through a couple of vacuums advertised on TV that just didn't do the job. After using another vacuum, I got this one and it picked up virtually everything the other one wouldn't. I was amazed by how much I saw in the canister.
I also really like the attachments so that I can get all the pet hair off of my couch and chair. Best vacuum I've owned.

I love it. I was considering spending a little more for a more expensive highly publicized model, and am glad I didn't; reason being, this vacuum sucks up all the dirt, dust, and hair I could hope for. I did research before purchasing this vacuum, found many happy customers, and the reviews don't lie, this vacuum is simply one of the best, most economical vacuums on the market.

Great vacuum for the money

Nice vacuum! Suction is incredible. The dirt this thing finds hidden in an already clean floor is scary. The tools are great - easily accessible and easy to use. Nice and low - can effortlessly roll under low profile tables, etc. I don't find the vacuum heavy - just need to have the height adjustment on the correct setting. The only drawback is emptying the canister - the drop-down door does not automatically open when button is pushed, and when you do get it open with your hand, if you have picked up any animal hair you will need to reach in and empty the canister by hand. Dust billows everywhere while gently shaking to remove remaining dirt. This is no different than most other bagless vacuums - but unless you empty the canister outside and wear a mask, you are defeating the purpose of all the anti-allergen features of the vacuum. You're just putting the dust right back into the air if you empty the canister into your kitchen or garage trashcan. Other than this glaring design flaw (only "glaring" since advertised as a "healthy home" device), this is one great vacuum. I am happy with the purchase.

A Blue Dust Monster

I'm not a clean freak, but being that we have two dogs, two cats, three girls and a messy hubby in our household I vacuum our carpets 1-2 times weekly. I knew our old vacuum was losing its zip and after doing a ton of online research opted for the Bissell Healthy Home vacuum.
It was (literally) a snap to set up. Quick and easy right out of the box.
I didn't even get through our entire house before I needed to change the canister full of dust, hair and quite a few unidentified objects! Ick!! I was appalled that all that was lodged in our supposedly clean carpet. The Turbo Brush works great on our sofas and chairs. I also love the long cord and the long extension hose.
The only down side is that this vacuum is heavy and it doesn't "glide" as easily across the carpet as my previous vacuum. If you have a sore arm/shoulder, I could see where this vacuum would be difficult to maneuver. I give it a four star only because of it being heavy and a bit hard to carry up/down the stairs.
But that's a small price to pay for a cleaner carpet and a healthier home.

For the money, this is really a very good Vac cleaner. I like having the power button on the top handle. The power cord is long, but wished it had the ability to recoil into the unit. Great suction. Only real problem area we had was dumping the dirt out. The trap release door gets stuck.

I got this vaccum after my eureka finally went kaput and did a lot of research on this page, then decided to go with this vaccum. I went to my local best buy store that I frequent to much and tried the Bissill and compared it to the Dison, It worked just as good at half the price. Once I got home I had to try it out and there is no comparison to the eureka at all. This vaccum is 10 times better than my old one and it picked up so much stuff out of my rug I could not believe it. It got the smallest pices of "dust" I guess, and it made me feel like my house has never been vaccumed. I have had it for about a month now and have had no problem at all. I hope it stays that way but for now it makes me want to clean everything. It works great on the hardwoods too, just turn the brushes off and lower it to the ground then get going. Dog hair is a joke, it sucks it up along with popcorn and leaves also. So far this thing has changed the way I look at what a vaccum is supposed to do. I had no idea you could pick up such small particles out of a carpet or rug like this......this is a great buy and a great vaccum.....

I love this vacuum. There are so many vacuums out there that cost hundreds more but this vacuum does the same job for less. It has the furniture attachment that gets the pet hair off or can get in smaller areas and still keeps a strong suction. Best vacuum I ever purchased!

I positivly LOVE the way this vac works. The suction is incredible and for cleaning, it really does trap the particles. HOWEVER...It Tips VERY easily and hits at the back of the heels and legs when it falls over. This is due to poor stretch of extension hose. you can't pull AT ALL! The vac also turns off too easily and often you'll turn it off while vacuming. The included attachments are minimal...sure wish it had the wide hardfloor brush. Overall the vac has been a great, but I curse it daily for falling over and tipping at the slightest tug...not easy to clean anything other than carpet safely.
