    Not Your Father's Dustbuster

Remember those Dustbusters of the 1980's? They hung in workshops and kitchens and were never used because they sucked -- or, rather, they didn't suck. And the batteries died almost as soon as you turned them on. But they were pretty cool nonetheless. They and Walkmans were the iphones of the 80s -- the must have gadgets that had pretty novel designs that never worked all that well. Batteries have improved quite a bit since then and this handvac does benefit from those advancements -- somewhat. I didn't find the battery-life quite as poor as some of the other reviewers of this vac, but I did expect it to be better. I've vacuumed my small sedan from front to back, about 20 minutes worth of work, in the high power setting (because, really, why would you use the low power setting). It starts petering out then quickly dies completely. So your SUV will have to be done in at least two sessions. If they couldn't give this a better battery, the least they could have done is make the battery swap-able -- a la cordless drills. The best use for this is for quick little cleanup jobs around the house like getting a stray cobweb or two out of a corner. The biggest complaint I (and many other reviewers) have about this unit is the inexplicable lack of a wall-mount. Even a search on Amazon, which has everything, comes up with nada. I contacted Black & Decker and they confirmed that they don't make or sell one. So, as you can see in my pictures, I fabricated one of my own. Overall, this isn't too bad of a hand vac, depending on your intended use. It would be outstanding, though, with Alexa-compatibility: "Alexa, tell the hand-vac to vacuum the cobwebs in the corner."

Is it possible to love a hand vacuum ? YES !

I bought this to replace a dust buster that passed away and I wanted a lighter one that would work great in the car and around the house. This is lighter weight, has strong power, feels balanced in the hand and during use. It has a super long, pull out nose suction nozzle that fits in slim paces between car seats and easily reaches floors without straining to work. I use it daily ! The extended nose makes it easy to reach the floor without bending. I have two gerbils, so I do a daily run with the hand vacuum around their cage and the floor. I clean the entire unit every 2 or 3 uses. I take it apart, empty the dry trash and occasionally wash the filter and set it on an air vent to dry. I want to buy one extra washable filter one while this model is popular. All those features make it a hand vac a person can fall in love with. I have never loved a small vac as much as I do this one. Don't let it get by you !!! So easy and versatile and hope you will love it, too. PS If you are short, the floor is so easy to reach with the nozzle extended. Spot cleaning becomes so easy and not heavy or difficult. Equally great with the car interior, the spot cleaning around the house and mess that pets make. Save your back, don't work so hard and try this dust buster. It is a great value and you might fall in love with it, too.

Reviews for hand vacs tend to be all over the spectrum - someone says it has great suction, the next person says it's worthless. Personally I think too many people have way too lofty of an expectation for a HAND VAC. Anyway, I'm satisfied with my purchase. The suction on this seems pretty strong and it functions well for what I want it to do which is clean up small messes quickly when you don't want to drag out the full size vac. It has a 3 part filter to clean so it takes a little longer but it wasn't a big deal to me. And as one reviewer said, the pull out nozzle does push back in at times if you are shoving it into a seat cushion. So it's not perfect and I have yet to use it in my car, which is another area I specifically bought it for (waiting for warmer weather) - but I have used it around the kitchen and living room and I'm happy with it. I did use my Best Buy points to purchase so the pricing was discounted and a really good deal for me. Still, I would recommend the purchase at this point. I keep it plugged in and ready to go at all times so there would be no issues with run time. I don't anticipate running it for very long periods of time.

I randomly came across the vac while at BestBuy for a different reason. I bought it because it was on sale and it looked new, not many reviews for this model, but a similar model had some good reviews, so I took a chance on it. The power is pretty awesome for a handheld. To empty the canister, you need to remove the filter also, which can get a little messy but it isn't too big of a deal, so I wont take off a start for it. Everything is easily washed. I vacuumed out my car with this and it left a lot of black dust all over it, but it washed off easily off of everything. I did notice this model was cheaper than a different model other stores had with a fancier battery detection and filter change alert. I contacted black and decker if they used the same battery and same motor, and they said it does, just the extra lights for battery were the difference, which I can't see justified for the extra $20. I would go with this model over the other versions of it.

i would say this is a nice handy minivac, it works and does its job. i would say battery and wireless part lasts a good 2 weeks between charging if you casually or lightly use it. its got 2 suction settings one low and one high. the extention is nice but cant use the brush when its extended. i would not use it to suck up wet or moist items and do dry only. the filter and tray is not set for that i think. now for the tray and filter, it has a nice set up. its easy to open, dump and put back on. the device is all great, low carpet and or rugs probably work best ... or cars and other sorts of furniture. and its big and thin enough if you angle it right wayu you can fit it in to suck up in the small crevices and corners.

Mediocre Suction and Poor Battery Life

I owned this vacuum for almost 2 weeks, and only used it a few times for very short durations. The battery was dying too quickly, not a good sign for a brand new vacuum. I bought this mainly for vacuuming the hair in my bathroom when trimming my scalp and beard; it did an extremely poor job! Using the attachments didn’t help. Also my son dropped cookie crums all over my bed, and I would have to go over the same area several times. Stay way from this. I just bought the Shark Pet Perfect II for the same price, and it has way better suction! But I am still evaluating the battery life.

I've only used this a few times, but for the price this small but mighty hand vac gets the job done! We just wanted to have something small to pick up little messes made by our dog or child, but we've wound up using it for "dusting" hard to reach places and in the car. Only complaint is that the crevice tool is a little misleading - it's not actually any thinner than usual, it just extends out. So it's not bad for cleaning the plant shelf, but it doesn't exactly fit between the console and the seats in the car. But that wasn't a deal breaker, just a bit of a surprise.

I had done my research and went to Best Buy well prepared, or so I thought. The Salesman that helped me let me know that this one was better than the one I had thought to purchase, explained why, and said he hadn't had any of these returned, and it was getting good reviews. I love it! On all counts he was right. I went home, put it together myself, and started the tasks at hand. It worked wonders. On big pieces, or little pieces of sawdust, this hand vac is the ticket. Leave it to Black and Decker. Very easy to use, and clean.

This small hand vac has good suction for picking up a variety of things. I've been able to use it on the carpet, too, while my previous ones of this type worked mainly on hard surfaces. The fact that it extends a little seems useless, however, because it's the same width as the rest of the vac, and it tends to push in on its own while using it; it would be helpful if it were a crevice tool or at least narrower than the regular vacuum end. It is lightweight and easy to empty the dirt. I do wish it could attach to the wall, but it is small enough that it isn't too in the way on the floor.

I bought this to replace a shark handvac that had failed. It is a much better vac. I use this to clean up after my two parrots, who are quite messy. It picks up everything. The turbo suction is a nice feature. The built in attachments are a nice idea. The dust cup is a bit small. Black and Decker does not currently sell replacement filters for this model. It is not too loud, or heavy. I would buy it again. A very good vac for the money.

The sales staff was very helpful in answering my questions. I have purchased hand vacs similar to this in the past and was leery. They were weak and pretty much useless. This model takes about 3 hours to fully charge vs 6.5 hours for the cheaper version. It has good power for a handheld and long battery life. Not sure about the “turbo” mode. I haven’t used it yet. Overall I’m happy with this purchase and Best Buy in Destin.

I disagree with many of the reviews. To me this unit is underpowered for most real world cleaning chores that are more difficult than getting sand off of a hard surface. I purchased it to clean my car. It barely pulls dirt off of carpet and requires many repeated passes with the brush. The "crevice" tool is the same size as the nozzle itself, so it will not actually fit in most crevices! I see they have a 16 volt unit for almost the same price, with less runtime. Extra power might be worth it. This vac IMHO is only suitable for minimal duty.

Bought this hand vac a couple of months ago for small spills and dusting. So far, it has served its purpose well. It's not too heavy or bulky to carry around. The charge is sufficient for small jobs and doesn't need to be constantly charged. Really like the slim, nozzle as it reaches into small spaces. The attached brush that can be flipped out is also very handy. I also like that it's bagless. easy to clean and not necessary to have to buy bags.

Okay so I bought this because I’m always on the go and I have kitty who loves to make a mess so I thought why not give it a try at first some of the review kind of made me double think it but then I thought why not and so far so good ! The battery on the vac last a long time I use it on a daily basis and I charge it one every two weeks. Idk why people wheresayign the battery sucked. My is great the only down fall is not being able to hang it unless you buy like a huge hook but other than that I love it

I charged the vacuum up before i used it the first time. The first time i used the vacuum it worked as i expected. The second time i used it it ran out of battery power before i finished cleaning my car. I did not recharge it before using it the second time so this may have been the problem. This vacuum has a power boost setting so i am sure this contributed to it running out of power before i finished using it.

So this only seems to be good for very very light use. By that, I mean you use it to pick up dust or penny dime sized objects on hard floor. I was hoping to use this to deep clean car floor and a set of carpet covered set of stairs but 1. The suction isn’t strong enough (you need to put in some work into it with the brush tip so the dirt jumps up and it sucks it up) and 2. The battery dies in like 5-7 minutes. Can’t get much cleaning done unless it’s hard floor and big trash.

I bought this to clean debris from my windows. I have floor to ceiling windows at the front of the house. When the lawn care guy uses the blower dirt and debris will accumulate at the base when I raise the window. Fortunately the windows are well insulated that none comes into the house. At any rate the Hand Vac does not do corners well using it for that purpose. However is does make a decent car vac and for light duty vacuuming under sofa cushions.

I’ve had the product for over a year now. This vacuum has great suction and is exactly what I needed for small spills and cleanups in tight areas. I was able to use Best Buy points to purchase so it was a real deal for me but I would highly recommend it. I keep it plugged in so it’s always ready to go. Perfect for when you don’t want to bother with dragging out a full size vac.

I have enjoyed being able to dust and clean up quickly - the crumbs from bread and cooking. I also have sucked up the dust bunnies all around when needed - and started to work on my car and the consoles - but the battery ran out midway through a cleaning. If the battery would stay longer I could be happier with it- but then I have not lost the chord to charge it - which could happen if I didn't need it every ten minutes!

This hand vacuum cleaner has a lot of power for its size. It is light weight so it’s easy to carry and use. I have really enjoyed it. I have a German Shepherd who sheds constantly and this vacuum is very helpful keeping my floors clean. The product is worth the price. It remains charged well also. I haven’t lost a charge since I’ve used it but it does remain on charge through the day. I’d buy it again.
