I spent a long time looking over various espresso machines before deciding that simplest is best for my needs, and the Bambino fits that need perfectly. Comparing it to other similar machines the deciding factor was my great experience with other Breville products. They simply work as advertised and in my experience their products are durable. In addition to the Bambino I’ve collected the Electric Wok, Air Fryer, and Citrus Juicer; all have provide years of solid use; three months in so far on the Bambino.
Regarding the Bambino, some of the reviews complain about the unit clogging up. I wonder if these reviewers are the same folks that allow sludge built up in their drip coffee machine’s carafe? Making espresso can be messy and routine cleaning is necessary, like after every use!
The only automation is the single or double shot button (and you can modify the timing/quantity). The steam wand is manual, is easily controlled, and works exactly as desired. As far as water temperature, an instant read thermometer shows the water temperature is consistently at 200f on the machine I own. The unit has a small footprint so not much counter space is used. I haven’t experienced the difficulties others have mentioned with the filter baskets, in fact, I’ve found you have to be careful when knocking out the puck to not launch the filter basket across the room.
Other than coffee the unit is ready to use out of the box. Yes, the tamper is light duty, but adequate, and there is also a frothing cup included. I am using this machine more than anticipated so will have to see how it lasts over the long haul. Right now it’s getting fired up at least twice a day everyday for at least two double shots each session.

Exactly What I Needed

Its simple, quick, compact, and was the best option for me as i had a standalone breville grinder already. Includes the pressurized and unpressurized portafilters, on both singles and doubles. I tweeked my grinder to give exactly 18 grams for double shot by setting the grinder to 2 shots @ 12.8 seconds between 8 to 15 fine grind, and then put it in this machine that does the rest with one button. I watched a quick youtube of how to froth milk and can now make decent lattes. Its not complicated, truely simple. Just keep in mind after your done to run water on a single shot naked with no puck handle to clear the residue and then the same on the froth wand. I use hot water to remove the milk residue from the wand. Im glad i didnt spend more as i realized i didnt need anything else but this. Hope this helps your journey to the perfect shot. I truely spent too much time researching so take my word and save yourself time to try this out.

Clogs up-Does not work well

Espresso machine is good at first but starts to have trouble in less than a year. The double shot starts to poorly dispense and dribbles a few drops of espresso gets clogged a lot,The Coffee comes out on one side most of the times and is not very hot. Makes weak coffee.
This Breville is no different than all other ones we have purchased and returned.
It does not froth milk hot enough and I have to do one more cycle to get it hot enough. The frother does not work all the time and have to clean machine again in morning running a water cycle to get it to work.
I clean this machine after each use. There is no extra tools to clean this like a needle to get into the holes in porta-filter cleaned well. The porta-filter is plastic as well as metal so it is not that good quality.
We bought warranty and need to take this back just like all the others in less than 1 1/2 years. Getting tired of exchanging espresso machines. I wish someone would create one that is consistent.

This is a great little espresso machine. I have the larger Breville for inside the house and we use this for our camp trailer or any trips. It’s nice and compact to pack around and takes up little space on the counter. Makes delicious coffee and easy to use!

It's been 6 months and the machine still works as well as it did when I bought it. Steams milk well, and is intuitive enough. I wish it could steam and pull shots at the same time, but otherwise very happy with this purchase!

After a month of daily use we've had no problems with the device. The heater is quick and the machine is sturdy overall. We're relatively new to espresso machines so the simplicity is appreciated.

I had my eye on an espresso machine for a few years. I felt really intimidated by the bigger models, and I think this one is a perfect one to start with. I use it pretty much every day, and it is a really good beginner's model of an espresso machine. Beyond the machine itself, I would suggest also buying the puck screen that fits this size (slightly smaller than 54) because it makes a dramatic impact on the quality of the extraction. Those are just a few bucks, and available lots of places. Overall, I'm super stoked about this!

So far this gets the job done and works for the limited amount of counterspace that I have in my apartment. For those venturing into espresso and milk drinks, this is great compact machine.

This is my second at-home-espresso maker (first Breville) and OMG, what an upgrade. This machine makes delicious espresso. Better than some cafes. I would absolutely recommend this product. Super easy to use! 10/10

I love my bambino. It makes smooth perfect expresso and it's easy to use and easy to clean. I am not mechanically inclined so ease of use is a required feature. I actually learned to use my son's bambino over Christmas and then came home and bought my own. The expresso is pretty strong so I make a 2 shot and then press the one shot button. It still runs the single shot through the spent grinds.

I purchased this for my RV as I had a Barista Express at home, but wanted a smaller unit for the trailer. We recently went on a trip and used this to make expressos for four days for three people. It worked great once I got it dialed in.
The size is great as I can move it to a different part of the counter after making the morning coffee drinks.
I used the hot water arm to make Americano drinks with a splash of milk and it made great foam on the drinks.

Great Starter Machine

Honestly, I am loving this machine. I am by no means skilled, and so this is a perfect starter machine. I upgraded from a basic DeLonghi and it is a world of difference! If you are debating between spending $75 vs $300, just spend the $300. The espresso takes great (for my tastes, I am not an expert by any means) and I love how frothy the milk gets. It is a fast machine and so far I have not had any issues (had it about 2 months).
