I had to give 4 stars because when installing, the bulbs did not work. We had to reinstall a couple of times before all would correctly install.

Connection Issues

I have spent the past few years setting up, testing and adjusting multiple whole-home smart device setups, and this may have been the most frustrating product I’ve tried. The main issue is that control of the lightbulbs relies on connection to the outlet. Direct connection and control of the bulbs is not possible. You must control them through the outlet hub, which means that the bulbs also must all be close to the outlet hub. Reliance on a hub has not been standard for nearly 5 years now. All of the top modern smart bulbs and devices connect directly to the internet and do not require a hub. This might not be a deal breaker if the connection between the bulbs and the hub was reliable and if the hub would reliably stay connected to the internet. Instead, dropped connections were just about a guarantee. I even tried powering off all other routers and smart devices to rule out signal interference and yet had no improvement. Having already joined the party several years too late, if GE doesn’t get with the times and provide a product that is more advanced and reliable than the others, they will fail out of this market. The abundance of reviews with the same issues validated that these products are no good and brings into question whether GE even does any real QA testing on these products.

The lights can directly connect to the C by GE app or directly to the Google Home app and no hub is required. Reach out to our support team if you'd like any assistance with your devices. Quality is worse than Phillips but they’re cheaper

If you really desire a complete LED, dimmable, multicolor, color as heck atmosphere you’ll probably end up switching to another line because the GE just doesn’t offer all of the products or features that are cool as heck. The WiFi wall plugs only connect to 2.4 GHz router frequency which requires switching networks if you’re using a dual band and regularly utilize your router’s faster and more useful 5 GHz band. If you only want individual dimming controls for ceiling lights than these are a great, more budget friendly option.

Great bundle

Best Buy had the best deal! I used smart lights for my porch lights and schedule them to turn on and off at certain times. So convenient! These smart lights are not dimmable. I have a power strip plugged to the smart plug and now I can turn on/off everything that is on the power strip. Basically you do not need one smart plug per device unless you need to control each device individually.

Nice, when it works<

It takes a bit of time but connected. But it often decides not to talk to Alexa and I had to delete the smart bulbs and socket AND the app then reload and do it over again. Nice when it works but annoying when it is not. Buy Phillips next time if you want a smart bulb.

Every time I tried, it wasn’t working. When I called the support line for google, they couldn’t help either.

More for Alexa to do for you

I have all the devices linked to Alexa and they respond to commands nicely. The LED bulbs use 9.5 W and give off 760 lumens and are not as bright as the ones they replaced (10 W, 800 lumens). But for the convenience of operation without having to fumble around trying to find the switch on a lamp stand in the dark, these bulbs and outlet device are worth it! Let Alexa do it for you!
