I make collages of my colorful quilts before I give them to charity and print the collage for reference. However, the colors are very muted. On the positive side, the photos inside the grid stay inside the grid on printing — one reason we purchased a new printer.

I am a big fan of the Cannon pixma line, and this printer is no exception. The main purpose for it is my son's school projects. Its light-weight and has a hard-plastic feel. I prefer a sleeker-feel and sturdier printers. The screen resolution is not the greatest, but then again Im used to bright phone screens. I was expecting slow print jobs, but it does its job faster than I expected.

Canon TS7720 vs. HP Ink Jet 8600

I work from home and have been using HP InkJet 8600 printers for years. My last one needed service after years of uninterupted use. I chose this time to cut costs and purchase a smaller printer instead. I have been pleasantly suprised. This Canon is almost as fast and the print quality is very good. The ink is less expensive too. I am very satisfied with this printer. It might work well for you too.

I’ve had a couple of printers before, and this one was the easiest to set up. The screen on the printer has a video showing you exactly what to do. I’ve had it for over a month and it works great. I use it wirelessly with my computer and my phone.

Very awesome and reliable never broke down on me even once. The only the issue is the ink is a bit expensive compare to the other printers but worth it bigger capacity and longevity. Easy connectivity to WiFi.

I have been pleased with my purchase so far and am happy with the price. I was able to set it up for AirPrint and Cloud scan to Google easily just like my previous Canon printer. Works as expected with only 2 ink cartridges.

Quick Overview
=================================
Having one do-it-all device is a must-have for those with school-aged kids or working from home. You'll always need some quick printouts and having a scanner/copier is always helpful, too. Here we'll be testing the Canon PIXMA TS7720. I've had multiple Canon printers and I'll compare it to my current workhorse, the PIXMA TS6420a.
Overall build and setup
=================================
Yes it's a big, plastic, rounded, rectangular prism, that has a large flatbed scanner on the top, a folding rear tray with dust cover, a front-loading paper tray, and a front-mounted tray for your printouts. Right above that is the color touchscreen display. It's not huge, but it's a nice addition considering my older TS6420a had a 2-color screen that you had to navigate with the nearby buttons.
Setting it up was easy if you've set up an inkjet printer before. The screen helps walk you through the steps to make things very clear and straightforward. We'll start by removing the tape that keeps things from moving around too much during shipping, then add the ink cartridges (separate ones for black and color), and finally we'll let it run a calibration so it can line up the print nozzles.
All of that took just under 10 minutes so you'll be up and running quickly. After that, I went into the menu and joined it to the Wi-Fi network. Here's where the touchscreen really helps make things easier! What's funny (see pics) is that you have to use the "T9" style (remember texting on old phones?) to enter your wireless network's password!
After that, I could immediately see the printer on my nearby Windows 11 PC and was able to print right away. Of course, you can go to Canon's site to download the official drivers and utilities to help do things like process your scans and get better details about the device (graphic ink level display, etc.).
Performance
=================================
I always start off with some black and white prints of shipping labels (barcodes) to see how straight the lines are with on "fuzz" or softness around the edges. Here, everything looked great and I felt the pages were coming out very quickly. I did a few mixed prints with some math homework for the little ones and then some quick color prints on normal 8.5 x 11" paper which also seemed to quickly eject out of the printer. Though the listed resolution is technically less than my TS6420a, the printouts looked indistinguishable and they came out faster. Canon rates this at 15ppm for black and 10ppm for color. I didn't go check the specs until later, but it seems much faster than my older Canon (13 ppm black, 6.8 ppm color).
Next, I tried some photo paper (4 x 6") in the rear tray and that came out great! Again, this was indistinguishable from my TS6420a, but it did seem to print faster. If you've used inkjets for printing HQ pictures, you know that they can sometimes take a long time to process then print.
Scanning was simple using the Windows Scan utility and copies popped out just as quickly as you could push the button.
This printer does two-sided printing (so did my old one), which is a nice time-saving feature if you need it!
We print a lot and having two 100-sheet paper trays (one in the front, one in the rear) helps keep us ready to print at all times. Additionally, better Wi-Fi support (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz) than the TS6420a (2.4 GHz only) keeps me connected at all times. Sometimes, I would get a notification that my "printer is offline" with my TS6420 and I'd have to wait or power off/on to get it connected again. I haven't had that issue with the TS7720 yet!
Conclusion
=================================
This Canon PIXMA TS7720 is a great all-purpose, all-in-one device for your home productivity. You get rock-solid wireless connectivity and a convenient color touchscreen for configuration. Best of all, you get some pretty decent performance with fast B&W and color printing. Even the slower, HQ photo printing was faster than my old Canon.
Printer Ink is always a concern and to me, it looks like staying current is better for pricing. You can order standard or XL versions of the ink refills and as models get older, the prices seem to go up due to scarcity or you only have 3rd party options which may not perform as well.
