Excellent monitor with true 165 hz refresh rate
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are considering a cheaper monitor with 144/165hz capabilities, I urge you to consider the S2417DG. For FPS games such as CS:GO and Overwatch, in my mind there is no better complete deal than this monitor. One note, if you see it listed for $499, wait off because there are sales often. I picked this up for $399. Best of luck.

1st Impressions - Really Impressive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been running my RTX 2080Ti into my 4k tv at 60hz with Vsync enabled and it has been OK, but I've been playing a lot of FPS with a keyboard and mouse lately, so I decided to give this whole high refresh rate thing a shot. Wow. I totally get what all the hubbub is about. This is a game changer. Unboxing and setup for this thing was very clean and easy, unlike some other monitors I've tried. No tools required. Everything pulls out the box logically. The stand slots right into the back of the display, then the base screws onto the bottom of the stand with a simple thumb screw. I plugged it in via DP and my PC automatically detected and enabled Gsync. Beautiful. I previously tried an ultrawide freesync monitor that was supposedly Gsync compatible and it did not work. This monitor was plug and play. Overclocking to 165hz was super simple. You just activate it in the monitor settings and you're good to go. I then used RTSS to cap fps just below the max refresh rate (to 160hz) and disabled Vsync and fired up DOOM 2016. Wow. Right off the bat the animations look incredibly smooth. I switched over to BFV and couldn't put it down. My aim was instantly improved in all shooters. You don't realize how much input latency you have until you don't have it anymore. I've never felt so in control of my aim. Headshots became effortless. Rotating the view with the mouse no longer creates this mild stuttery distortion. It is perfectly smooth. Vsync stutters are gone. As far as image quality goes, the colors look great and the 1440p resolution is crisp. I am playing with the monitor very close to my face. Probably 1-1.5 ft away, so I can definitely see the difference compared to sitting 6 ft away from a 4k 55" TV, but it is totally worth the slight downtick in graphical quality to have gameplay be this smooth. Totally worth it to play FPS with no input latency at high framerates. I'll probably still use the 4k TV for some games. I tried Forza Horizon 4 on the new monitor and I think I prefer the 4k HDR TV. You don't really notice much improvement to control with a gamepad using this monitor, but for FPS KBM it is an absolute gamechanger. I would highly recommend this to anyone with a decent rig who wants to play FPS games with a keyboard and mouse, even if that person doesn't play competitively online. I am not a huge fan of multiplayer shooters (although I might be now that I can aim so effortlessly haha, haven't tried it yet) and I still see tremendous value in single player shooters. Don't make the mistake of thinking you'll only benefit from high refresh rate if you're playing competitive FPS. Your single player shooter gameplay will be so much more satisfying.

Not what I was expecting.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am coming from an IPS monitor. They do win in that department for picture quality. But right out of the box I was amazed by the colors it put out for this dell. I did some minor adjustments based on other reviewers on their settings. And let me tell you it looks great. The performance is there. And the pic quality is also there for me. If you prefer IPS over TN but want a fast monitor with both pic quality and performance. You should consider this one.

Very nice G-Sync monitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my monitor to complement GTX 1080. The 2K resolution is perfect for my needs while still being a great gaming monitor and not big in size. I did not face text related issue which I have heard in some other reviews, related to screen size vs resolution for text clarity. It is one of the cheapest G-Sync monitor available and that too from Dell. Very happy with my purchase and would recommend this to all Nvidia GPU owners.

Flaws only noticeable outside gaming.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The color banding and discoloration from different viewing angels is a thing, but usually only noticeable outside of gaming (web browsing, photos). For the price, I got exactly what I wanted.

My First Ever G-Sync Compatible Monitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This monitor rocks! I play some faster paced games on occasion and always struggled with screen tearing in cinematic scenes due to the performance of my machine. But, with this monitor's G-Sync capability paired with the graphics card in my machine, screen-tearing is a thing of the past for me! It also offers a handful of blue USB ports to help me with my wire management and locations for my peripherals!

Really not too bad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Black levels on this are pretty good for a TN panel. Colors are good, but not especially colorful. A little too bright out of the box. 2560x1440 resolution on a 24" display makes games and everything else look really sharp. The power saving and sleep modes on this monitor are awful. Often refusing to come out of power saving mode. you can turn off the energy saving feature but then it uses 13 Watts when the power button is off. My solution is to have the pc go to sleep before the monitor does, by leaving the display's power saver turned on and then set windows to never turn off the display and go to sleep after 30 minutes.

Great monitor especially on sale
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this monitor on sale and for me it looks great. I cannot speak to the colors as I am partially color blind but can speak to the gaming and resolution. First off I run a GTX1060 6G, a ryzen 1600X at non overclocked speeds, and 16G of ram at 2133mz. I noticed most reviews did not mention the hardware which made me skeptical of buying so hopefully this helps. This system runs Destiny at an average of 61fps on high settings. It ran at a consistent 144+ fps on League of Legends. Finally the it ran HellBlade at a consistant 65 FPS on high settings. The bump up from 1080p to 1440p is extremely satisfying to the eye not only in games but in little details normally neglected with the PC experience. Like I said earlier I cannot speak to the colors due to my colorblindness but I would say so far I am happy with the purchase and especially for the sale.

Still tears in games
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked the simplicity of how this monitor looks. The graphics were great, but after awhile playing fps games, you can notice a lot of tearing in the game and the light bleeding was very pixelated. Even the Dell Logo at the beginning was pixelated against the black. I have a RTX 2070 so I know it couldn't have been the graphics card.

Bad contrast but great colors. Wouldn't recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great monitor for gaming. However, I highly underestimated the contrast ratio and didn't realize how poorly the blacks are shown on the screen. If you plan on watching movies or playing games where there are dark scenes, I would recommend looking for a panel that is IPS or VA instead of this TN display. If you're playing bright colorful games or just using the PC regularly, then it's a good monitor to use. Viewing angle is also notoriously. Not great. If looking at this monitor dead on everything looks fine but if you look at a slight angle or adjust monitor up or down you will lose a lot of detail.

Unable to surpass 60hz
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got the monitor awhile back because of the g-sync and the 165hz. Xbox just did an update on the console for gamers to be able to play on monitor at 120hz. Turns out that mine is unable to surpass 60hz. The screen will go black and not read the hdmi cable. My xbox works great on my brother's alien ware and allows the 120hz. This monitor will disappoint you.
