This receiver does everything I want .. and then some.

The receiver does gets hot, and when it does, it shut itself off during the movies.

I'm coming from a 9 year old Onkyo receiver that still works just fine, it was just time to upgrade. The Onkyo lacked all of the newest features that this receiver has. I specifically wanted this receiver because of the HDMI video/audio which the onkyo did not have. My Panasonic plasma only has 2 HDMI inputs and i have 4 devices that use hdmi and i always had to swap the cables and it was getting to become a real PITA. I was anticipating similar sound quality from this unit if not maybe a hair better than the onkyo. But after i hooked this up i was simply astonished with the sound quality that this unit puts out. It really makes my infinity primus speakers shine and come alive like never before. Watched my first movie last night (San Andreas) with Dolby TruHD and wow did it impress me so much. Even the size of this receiver is smaller than my onkyo and it has twice the amount of hook ups, which is very nice because my TV stand is becoming crowded. So if you are looking for a very good quality receiver that is future proof and has all of the bells and whistles, this is the one. I was originally looking at Onkyo receivers (since i already had one) but have heard from several people and online forums that the quality has been diminishing in them and did not want to take my chances. One last thing i would like to mention is the fear of input lag that i had before purchasing this. I am a big time gamer and simply will not live with added lag. Rest assured, you will not see any input lag on screen or any audio syncing issues with this receiver, it's simply amazing!!

The receiver now just powers on, then powers off to a blinking light. Only had it two weeks and two days.

It seemed good until it blew a fuse or something and started smoking a day after I bought it.

I replaced my old Sony receiver for this Denon. I have seven excellent speakers, I thought I was getting great sound quality. I decided that my Sony was getting old enough to warrant buying a new AV receiver. I was not committed to buying any particular brand. I did not look long and hard comparing. I chose this Denon based on the huge watts and the $500 sale price. I know that buying a receiver based on watts output is not much of a comparison, but I knew I would not be stressing my speaker. This Denon is excellent and easy to use. I didn't realize that I was missing out on a lot of quality sound from my old receiver. Boy was I missing a lot! Great buy!

Twice repaired, center channel dies after a few days

I got this for my new LG 4k tv and a new surround speaker set. Unbelievable! I mean really - it sounds like I'm in a concert hall. I sat my wife down and played her Jason Mraz's 93 million miles song and she cried! That's a win for me!

At random intervals I won't hear voices because the center channel has stopped working. I've replaced my center channel speaker, and I've replaced the wiring. I know the problem is not the speaker or wires. I can turn the volume up super loud, and that gets the center channel working again - this is super annoying. I'm so disappointed.

Just bought the Denon receiver 2 months ago and noted occasionally there's no sound from any speakers for no reason. Tried reset the receiver but no use. Tried unplug it the power and wait for a minute and reconnect the power but no use. Even trued to blow into the headphone jack as some websites suggested but still no use. After about 10 mintes, sounds came back. It happened many times. I am going back to Yamaha. No more Denon. It appears many people have the same problems as I search for solutions online.
