By far the best hair drier I’ve had. Don’t need any other drier.

Dyson has been pioneering with all air-related technology, and their Supersonic r is leading the competition with blow dryers. Personally, hair dryers are my favorite styling tool. I love that they are so versatile and allow me to do anything from straighten to curl with just one heat tool and a brush. Moreover, the accessories provide versatility for my daughter and I, who have different hair types. For reference, I have hip-length hair that is mostly straight, while my daughter has hip-length hair that is a mixture of curls and waves. She only uses the blow dryer with the diffuser to enhance the waves and curls, while I use it for anything that suits my whim at a given time. What’s included? The Supersonic r comes with five attachments: a powerful air attachment, a pro concentrator, a diffuser, a wide-tooth comb, and a flyaway attachment. The cord length is 6ft with a large block in the middle and is extremely bulky to store, but understandable considering the power of this machine. It also comes with a removable and cleanable filter. Quality of Product This hair dryer comes with the renown and trusted quality that is expected of Dyson. It uses innovative technology to minimize size and weight significantly compared to standard hair dryers, while also removing the traditional and cumbersome barrel at the end of the handle. The entire dryer is ergonomically designed to make it easier to reach all areas around the head and minimize arm fatigue. Additionally, the buttons are well placed so there is little chance of accidentally changing the settings. The material used on the handle area is soft while providing great grip. Functionality The attachments that come with the Supersonic r snap on magnetically. The magnet is strong enough that there is no risk of them falling off and it takes a good tug to remove. What I love about this feature is how easy it is to quickly swivel the nozzles in the direction that works best for each side of my head while drying. The attachments also contain RFID that communicates with the dryer, so it knows which attachment is being used. This in turn tells the dryer which presets work best but also remembers if the setting was manually changed when last used and keeps it there the next time. Results I used the hair dryer to do a blow out after a shower and I used it a separate time to curl spray-damped hair, both times using a vented round brush. I was amazed at how fast it dried my hair. It took about ten minutes total complete a blowout on my long, dense set of hair. The results were soft, sleek hair with very little frizz. After using the flyaway attachment, that frizz was gone too. Honestly, the star attachment is the flyaway for me. I will rant and rave about it to anyone because I can use whenever I see frizz, even with no heat, and it will take care of those stubborn strays. My daughter feels the same way about it because it is a bigger issue for her. For the curls, I used the pro concentrator, and curl dried my spray-damped hair, rolling up each curl and clipping it to my hair with styling clips as I went. I then pressed the diffuser on the pinned curls using low heat to ensure that no wet spots were missed and ended up with big bouncy curls that lasted two days with no product to hold them besides heat protectant. Again, I used the flyaway attachment to get the top frizz smoothed out. The waves persisted even after several days of brushing day and night. As for my daughter, she defined her waves using the diffuser with low heat on damp hair. She ended up with lovely waves and curls that looked even better the next day. She has been using the flyway attachment daily to subdue her curly strays at the top of her head. Damage? I have to say, having long hair means going to lengths to protect it and minimize damage. Because of this, we use heat sparingly and analyze it intently after using new tools. Of the several hair dryers I own, this has been by far the least damaging. I cannot justly say the split ends I found were not already there beforehand and can also not say that they were not actually caused by using the round brush on wet hair. Basically, the split ends I have found are so few and far between that I can honestly say I wholeheartedly trust the Dyson Supersonic r to become my main go-to from here on out. I may even air dry my hair less often now because the negative ion technology in the dryer has produced such sleek results in my hair that have lasted for days. App The hair dryer can be added to the MyDyson app for short styling tutorials, a guided video on how to clean the filter, and a few other things customized to this specific model. The only confusing part is some styling tutorials use attachments not included with the model, I surmise they may be part of the professional Supersonic r. It’s not an essential app but it is nice to have for when it comes time to clean the filter plus it automatically registers the dryer with Dyson. Conclusion I am in awe at how powerful this little dryer is. It looks like a toy, but it dries like a beast. It produces sleek, lustrous blowouts that last for days, whilst using less heat and causing negligible if any damage to the hair. It is so lightweight and fast that I do not deal with the usual arm fatigue I normally get from blow dryers. I think the Supersonic r will be hard to beat, as well as become the standard others will strive to compete with. If you are looking for the best blow dryer, your search ends here.

While this Dyson Supersonic R Hair Dryer is smaller (and lighter) than the usual "gun style" models, I can already tell after minimal use, that it does a much better job than all my previous standard types of hair dryers I've owned. Right out of the box this hair dryer was easy to figure out. The power button, airflow speed, and temperature controls are right there on the handheld "wand," simple to use with a slight press of your thumb. The cold air 'shot' is located on the opposite side of the hair dryer, but is also easy enough to press when wanted. This Dyson hair dryer was much more comfortable to hold and far easier to and maneuver around my head. It’s also surprisingly quiet, too. The heat being put out by this Dyson hair dryer is directed to a 'specific' spot on your head of hair, dependent upon the attachment you've chosen to use. My favorite attachments, so far, are the pro-concentrator and default air attachment that comes pre-installed on the device, though the diffuser and wide-tooth comb ones are sure to be popular options for others. However, the flyaway attachment just seems odd to me and was a bit unwieldly to use. This Dyson hair dryer seems gentler on my hair, dries my hair faster, leaving it feeling smoother and softer. I also found my hair to not be as tangled or 'dried out' when brushing my hair after drying. I will say that the ultra heavy duty cord, and huge bulky power "brick" (which reminds me of those for my gaming laptops) seems a bit much. While there is undoubtably a reason for this with how Dyson designs it's products, the cumbersome nature of the cord makes it difficult to just rest upon my bathroom sink countertop, and having it lay on the floor isn't desirable either. This Dyson Supersonic R Hair Dryer allows you to dry and style with ease. Once again, Dyson figures out a "better way" with their innovative designs. Although, as always, this comes at a much higher price point. But the performance and build quality is quite evident, so the initial cost investment can be worth it as Dyson devices are certain to continue to perform for many years to come.

This Dyson Supersonic R Hair Dryer is outstanding! This is a lightweight, ergonomically shaped (for ease of use) and powerful hair dryer from a company that's been doing this for quite some time. I have the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer and have been using it daily for about 9 years and it still works great. I had the opportunity to try this new Supersonic R and love that it is even lighter than before. With shoulder issues, I am finding it more and more difficult to hold the older dryer, especially behind my head. This new Supersonic R is significantly lighter, smaller and it's perfectly curved making it so easy for me to use. This comes with 5 attachments that all connect magnetically - with a strong magnet. These snap on and you need to give them a good tug to remove them, so I know these attachments aren't going to fall off. When you place an attachment the first time, the dryer automatically sets to the power and heat setting that was programmed by Dyson's "experts" as the best setting, however you can change it if it doesn't work for you. And the cool thing with that is, once you change the setting - the air flow, the air temp or both, it will remember it for the next time you use that attachment. Because these are connected via magnet and don't need to set in a specific position, you are able to turn the attachment to best reach whatever part of your head you're working on. As a safety feature, you cannot operate the dryer without an attachment. Believe me, I tried! There are 3 heat settings, 3 air flow speeds and a cold shot that are indicated by an LED light. The heat is almost immediate and any change in temperature you would need, is just as quick. The air flow speeds are perfect for my use - on level 3, there is a powerful air flow that dries my hair extremely fast, but on level 2 I am able to control the drying while I style at the same time. And when I'm almost done styling, level 1 is great while I put on the finishing touches. I did have a slight problem a couple of times when drying my hair. I accidentally hit the power button that is located on the handle. This is something I have to learn not to do. The power button is recessed for easy use, which makes it easy for me to accidentally tap it with my finger. At the bottom of the handle is a filter that Dyson says should be cleaned about once per month. If you forget to clean it on your own, there is a small LED near the filter that will light to indicate that it's time. It is easy to remove and simple to clean. The Dyson Supersonic R Hair Dryer is an exceptional hair dryer that I am fairly certain will last for many, many years. The quality, the features and the ease of use make this worth the extra cost, and I'm worth it! I would very highly recommend this to anyone.

The Dyson - Supersonic R Hair Dryer in ceramic pink and rose gold is a game changer for numerous reasons, mostly is lightweight and ergonomically styled shape. As most of us know, we never get our hair styled at home when doing it ourselves versus what we get at the salon. Now I am not saying that all of that difference is overcome with this dryer, but its shape and lightweight plus the attachments does help out a lot to get the style you want in addition to protecting your hair from overheating and damage. I am 66 and currently dealing with a health issue that is causing my hair to thin and from what I have read, heat is not my hair's friend, I must be very gently in how I wash and style it. In fact, it is recommended that I allow my hair to air dry, but then the styling is not so good. So, what does this dryer come with? There are 5 attachments that are magnetically connected to the dryer tip. In fact, the machine will not start unless an attachment is properly attached and there are markings on the machine, as well as the attachment to make sure that it is seated correctly. The attachments are the powerful air attachment, the pro concentrator, the diffuser, the wide -tooth comb (which with cool hair is what I am mostly using to be gently with my hair), and the flyaway attachment. In fact, this dryer has quite the power and commercial-like load because it has quite the transformer, see picture attached, and GFI plug-in. Overall, what is not to like-smaller, lighter, and fast drying with multiple heat and fan settings for your drying needs, in addition a cool shot button to set your style. This dryer does not have extreme heat and because of its design allows the user to style where the user usually has difficulty getting to style.

Lightweight but powerful. I have long thick hair and it dries my hair fast. Love that I can control temperature and speed! So easy to pack and does not take alot of room! I have both dyson hair dryers and this one is much lighter. My elderly mother (83) uses it with ease without her arm tiring bc it is so light. So glad i got this!

Impressive concentrated power in a small package. I upgraded to the Supersonic R from the original Supersonic. I'm much prefer the hot air comoing from one central outlet versus a thin ring like the standard Supersonic. Unlike the Supersonic, though, the use of attachments are necessary with this model. I love the new design and look, the button layout is an improvement as well.

I have had the regular supersonic hairdryer for years, and I've loved it. I tried the R because I really appreciate the new design and how much smaller and lighter it is. I travel a lot, and being able to bring a hairdryer with me is really helpful. The quality is top-notch because at this price, it has to be. I will say this hairdryer works incredibly well, and the attachments are very well designed, but it is incredibly expensive. The one thing that you will not see in promo images is that the cord is a regular length, which I think is about 6 or 9 feet, but there is a power transformer brick towards the end of the cord, which adds a little bit to the bulk of the total package and makes it not as travel friendly as the images suggest.

High powered, lightweight, and maneuverable. Somewhat pricey but totally worth it if Best Buy rewards certificates are used to buy it (as was the case for me). Highly recommended.

Love Love as in win win...the dryer is lite and easy to use. My hair looked fantasic and I felt good after using as I had my doults. I do think it is very expensive but all dyson products are abit pricey.

I purchased the original Dyson hair dryer and have had it and loved ir for several years. This new hair dryer caught my eye and I had to try it. I never thought I’d find a better hair dryer than my original Dyson but this one is better. Upgrade!! You will not be sorry.
