I've had the ecobee3 for just over 2 months now and I love it! I have 5 sensors with mine and this feature is really what sets this thermostat above all others in the realm of smart thermostats. Now I have an accurate picture of what the temperature is through out the house and not just in the hallway where the thermostat hangs on the wall. Here are a few of my favorite features. First, Smart Away/Home. When the family leaves the house, the ecobee know is because not only do the sensors sense temperature, they are also occupancy sensors so they know when no one is in the room/house so it saves energy when we are away. As soon as we get home it resumes the comfort level we left at. Second, Follow Me. With multiple sensors in different rooms, the ecobee averages them together to create a comfortable level in the home. When you turn on Follow me, it knows what rooms are occupied and gives a high weight in the average so that those rooms are more comfortable. Third, Home IQ. This is a reporting feature that allows you access to all the data these sensors are creating. There are reports that show the temperature relative to the outside temperature and how long the furnace/AC was on. It is truly a useful tool to use to get a real picture of your energy consumption and what you can do to save money. Lastly, Smart scheduling. Rather than a "learning" thermostat, this thermostat knows from the get go your schedule because you set it up. :) And because it knows when you are not home it can adjust the temperature to save you money. This thermostat has been a great investment. If you are considering a smart thermostat, do your homework. Nest has been out for a longer period of time, but Ecobee is worth looking into. I was originally planning on getting the Nest, in fact I actually purchased one but didn't open it. I got the Ecobee3 and have been happy as can bee. ;) Customer support has been great too. One of my sensors was reading the temperature incorrectly. One phone call and they replaced the sensor with hesitation. Pull the trigger on this and you won't be disappointed.

Easy to setup, gives me great control remotely over my home temperature. The remote sensors were the differentiator that pushed me towards ecobee over the nest.

Forget your Nest (I had it and replaced it), forget your Lyric. The Ecobee3 is the thermostat you need. This thing has all the bells and whistles and more analytics than either of its biggest competitors, but the remote sensor is what puts it over the top. The ability to see and control your system based on the temperature in a room that is not the room with the thermostat is a welcome addition to a crowded "smart thermostat" space. Buy it, you won't regret it.

I have estimated that I have saved about $90 in the past 5 months which although I haven't yet made up for the cost of the thermostat I have gained much functionality compared to my old dumb thermostat. I expect within 2 years I will start getting a positive return on my investment, all-the-while having enhanced comfort and functionality from the remote control, multiple remote sensors and more. I would highly recommend this purchase if you are frustrated with your existing programmable or smart thermostat, or if you are still using a dumb thermostat.

I love this smart thermostat. It has been working great since I got it. I actually have 2 in my home and both have never given me any trouble. I love the look and UI of the device. The android and apple apps work great. My bill has been generally lower month over month and my home feels more comfortable (temperatures seem more even throughout the house after using the remote sensors to balance the airflow). Definitely worth every penny.

I wanted a "smart" thermostat that would be easy to install and this more than fit the bill. In less than 30 minutes, I had the unit up and running and was able to configure to my home network settings. Easy to set up and the results have been spectacular. I have seen a difference in my bills and more important, the displays have modified our behaviors in energy use. Cost less than NEST and has more features. Would buy again!

We are on the verge of graduating into a world of only smart products. Ecobee is leading the way with its remote sensors, FollowMe, Smart Recovery, and auto home away. The remote sensors allow control of temperatures in rooms other than where your thermostat is. So if your thermostat is in a hot entryway or a cold corner, you can disable the sensor on the thermostat and simply place the remote sensor in an optimal location. No more guessing how many degrees higher or lower you should set your thermostat. Additionally, with each remote sensor, the "smarter" of a reading the thermostat gets. With an average reading across the entire house, any hot or cold spots will be less effective on your comfort. Taking the remote sensors even further is the Follow Me feature. This allows only sensors in occupied rooms to be utilized in the average temperature, creating an even more accurate average of the most important areas. The sensors become particularly valuable in my experience at night time. Our bed room consistently runs warmer in winter and cooler in summer than the rest of the home. Disabling all sensors except the one in our room allows us to set exactly what temperature we'd like when sleeping. No more going to sleep shivering only to wake up sweating. Smart Recovery and auto home/away increases the amount of comfort in the home even further while contributing to savings. If you'd like it to cool down to a certain temperature by the time you go to bed, ecobee3 kicks on the A/C ahead of time based on the temperature inside and outside to ensure it's the right temperature when you want it to be. (Same for the heater.) Now that's smart! When you leave your home and the sensors do not detect anything for two hours, the thermostat goes into away mode. No point in cooling or heating a home that no one is in. When you plan on coming home, you can simply log into the app to tell ecobee3 to start making home a comfortable temperature. While all of these features are pretty fantastic for our new smart world, the ecobee still has a long way to go. There are several features that can be improved or allow for more control. Many tech savvy users would like more ability to customize their ecobee3 thermostat. That being said, ecobee is wonderful at listening to consumers and hearing feedback. Although, it took ecobee several months to introduce the first update after initial release. If ecobee wants to stay at the top, they will have to work ahead of the market.

This thermostat goes above and beyond. The remote sensors really set it apart from the competition. Especially being able to include or dismiss certain sensors from each type of scheduling you set up. For instance, we have a master bedroom upstairs with a remote sensor and the thermostat is downstairs. During the day, we exclude the Lil' Bee sensor (master bedroom) from the schedule, but during the "sleep" schedule the system only takes into account Lil' Bee. This keeps the master bedroom nice and cool throughout the night, but doesn't run our AC constantly throughout the day to cool the bedroom no one is in. The installation could be a bit tricky if you don't have the C wire, but the day we were going to install it we had a tech coming out for a tune up on the system so he installed it for us free of charge. Turned out we had a C wire, even though the previous thermostat didn't use it. I've read that even Ecobee support will help you install the thermostat from pictures submitted of your current system. Set up was simple, just follow the guide on screen and answer any questions. It has a 20 minute calibration/initiation/setup something or another phase, so don't be alarmed if it doesn't kick on your AC and tells you no equipment is running. All in all, we're loving this little guy and the customization is great. Ecobee listens to feedback and suggestions and incorporates what they can.

The Ecobee3 with Remote Sensors has made every room of our home comfortable and it can only get better with updates! After getting a response back from ecobee.com on compatability due to the check indicating that I needed to inquire first due to not having a C-wire, installation was a simple. Well, it was until it was determine that of the 5 wires present at both the thermostat and furnace control panel where spliced with only 3 wires... After trying to use 3 wires for the Power Extender Kit (PEK), Ecobee support determined that it it requires 4 to work. Nevertheless, Ecobee support was able to get my system up and running using only the 3 available wires until I replace/repair the splice between the furnace and the thermostat. The Remote Sensors are what we wanted in a system and they are not disappointing in any way. Presently, we have 5 sensors and the Ecobee3 unit monitoring my home with the Follow Me feature. Having a measure at the places we are and the detection that we are near them has created living areas that feel as we want. Also, we disable a sensor one of the bedrooms since it's closed off unless we have guests which makes things easy, but monitorable. Not everything is perfect though. We would like more schedule settings available per day to be used. Something like Sleep, Home, Work From Home, Home and Sleep since I like the temp slightly cooler than my significant other and I work from home. Also, it would be ideal to all for the sensors to be scheduled as enabled or disabled during the scheduled settings. Nevertheless, the items we'd like improved do not take away from this 5 star product! It can only get better with updates!!

I'll admit, I started with a Nest. And it set a decently high bar. But it didn't feel significantly more efficient. And it didn't evolve. It was pretty, that was about it. Thank goodness ecobee3 came along. Remote sensors are brilliant, and I don't even have to replace my smoke detectors (which is, I think, how you do remote sensors with Nest). HomeIQ is so much smarter. And the new IFTTT integration is brilliant. My energy bill was half as much this winter than the prior, much of which I attribute to my thermostat just being smarter.

This really is a nice, flexible smart thermostat. It's simple enough for the novice to use, but unlike the Nest it's got lots of features and options. The remote sensors are on of it's greatest advantages over Nest- it takes multiple temp and occupancy readings and creates a "composite" average temp that it uses to make HVAC decisions. A really great platform with lot's of future expansion!

The Ecobee3's prize feature is the multi-room temperature/occupancy sensors. They are constantly adding features (Home IQ usage metrics are awesome for data nerds). If you don't have a C-wire their adapter works well (and avoids the major issues introduced by using methods that Nest and Lyric use). I just spent $30 and ran a new wire... easy enough. If you are on the fence, get this one.

I change from an old thermostat to this new Ecobee 3. At first impression is a good change, gives you the “future” feeling and touchscreen has a nice size (icons) for big fingers. Ecobee 3 sensors is the cherry on top, you can buy whatever smart thermostat you like, but this sensors just hit the homerun, if you have a small department, you might not receive all the benefits of sensors, but in a small-medium size house (2000-25000 sq) you can really benefit from them as they will take temperature and humidity of that room, oh, and will also know where you are so it will turn on/off your hvac depending on your settings. I strongly recommend this product for an upgrade on any old thermostat (or new, yes, this is an upgrade; did I mention the sensors?) The only down side and that why I have 4 out of 5, its their windows phone support, we don’t have app, just a third party one which is $1.99 and im too cheap to pay more. If Ecobee gives a free app for WP users, I will change my review to 5 stars.

I have had my Ecobee3 for 4 months and I am very happy with the results so far. I have saved on my heating bill even though we have had a record cold winter this year. Ecobee provides tools to analyze historical usage which is very cool to see. I'm excited to see how much I save this summer on my electric bill. It also looks great on the wall!

So many features it's hard to even know where to start! Installation was easy, however, we did have it a bit wrong and when we called customer service they got us fixed right away. Even with the settings wrong we saved money over last year - and with the new setup we hardly ever use the strips on our heat pump. This thing is AWESOME!

I've had my ecobee3 (w/3 total sensors) for over a month, and it's definitely seemed more comfortable in our multi-level home due to the remote sensors. Overall I just can't find anything to complain about for this thermostat--they even have an active online presence and keep asking the community for improvement suggestions!

I have a two zone HVAC system with two thermostats and six sensors. I have found the system factors the outside weather and internal temperatures throughout the house which evens the conditions in all rooms. Our house is much more comfortable and very importantly we are saving about 20% on our energy costs.

I learned about this thermostat after my Nest died and took out the compressor on the AC for the tune of $1500. Apparently there's an issue with the FET's on the Nest base that can cause a lot of problems when they go out. Needless to say I wasn't going to put that back on my wall. The Ecobee3 works well, is easy to setup and provides a lot of realtime info about the HVAC system. Having a remote sensor also helps with the rooms that get hot later in the afternoon as they now get averaged into the whole house temperature. And it doesn't have those failure prone FET's to take down my compressor again!

I own an ecobee3, and have been extremely impressed with not only the product itself, but with the entire ecobee organization. They have reached out to me for feedback and seem to genuinely appreciate my opinions. Count me as a new lifelong customer.

This thermostat is the best for having overall temperature information using remote sensors and being able to evenly distribute heat throughout the house. Very easy to set up
