We purchased this thermostat to replace the digital programmable unit supplied by our builder. Our thermostat is located in a hallway with nearly zero airflow which caused the temp in other parts of the house to fluctuate wildly. The remote sensor allows this thermostat to track the temp in the room that is occupied making for a much more comfortable living space, add to this the capability to sense when someone is home or not and adjust accordingly and you have the ultimate in home heating control. I cannot say enough good about this thermostat, thank you for making such a great product.

I installed my ecobee3 myself, including running a new thermostat wire (only had a 4-wire cable before) and hooking up a relay to control my humidifier. excluding those extra setup steps, replacing my existing thermostat only took 20 minutes or so. Very easy! I love that I can control my thermostat from anywhere and easily change the schedule (including adding a scheduled vacation) from my phone. I also like the remote sensor, so I can make sure the temperature is correct where I want it (e.g. a bedroom), not just based on the location of the thermostat (the hallway). The web interface with the Home IQ statistics is really nice, too!

As an engineer, I tend to do a fair amount of research prior to purchasing a product. In the case of a smart thermostat, I looked at the Ecobee, Honeywell and Nest. While the Ecobee3 is more expensive, it is better than Honeywell and Nest. The reasons I choose Ecobee are as follows: 1) remote sensor (very nice), 2) non-Google owned device and 3) ease of installation. As an aside, I also have AT&T Digital Life for home security as well as Wemo for lighting automation. The reason I did not use Digital Life for everything is that I did not want to pay a monthly fee for lighting or HVAC.

this is one of the best purchases that i have made in a long time. My friend got a nest then sent it back when he saw what the ecobee can do.

This is a very feature rich smart thermostat and it just keeps getting better. The remote sensors put it in another class compared to Nest!

The ecobee 3 thermostat blows away the competition across the board and if you are looking for a smart thermostat that is feature rich then stop looking and buy this unit. It allows for the simplest configuration but lets you also move forward with more complex configurations for the people who want more control once they learn more about the unit. However guess what? You don't have to if you don't want to since ecobee has thought about a lot of great features and may already do it for you out of the box!

Ecobee 3 thermostat isn't a just learning 'stat, it's smart. Gives me the power to watch and control our HVAC and have it only working when we need it. The remote sensors let it control the comfort based on where we, the people, are, and not where the thermostat is, which is great if your thermostat is not in a main room. Installation instructions are clear and effective, and ecobee support is fantastic.

I replaced both a Lyric and Nest thermostat with an Ecobee3 -- the search is over!

The ecobee3 is a great smart thermostat with many configuration options. The remote sensors help to keep an even temperature through the house, and keep the rooms you are using prioritized. And of course if you aren't home at all, it will keep the system in away mode. HomeIQ lets you monitor your usage and I expect Ecobee will expand that functionality more and more. AND, if you need support for any reason, ecobee is very helpful and responsive. I have hear the opposite about Nest...

I have had an Ecobee3 since October. I love it, my thermostat was in a spot that just didn't work well for the house. I called a hvac company to have it moved and it was like 800.00. The Ecobee3 fit my exact need with the remote sensors. Which in my opinion are one of the best features of it. Also the Home IQ is so awesome, the amount of data you can sift through is slick.

I've had several dealings with Honeywell and Carrier smart thermostats as well as many other dumb thermostats. I can tell you that the ecobee3 easily beats out any other thermostat that I've ever dealt with. I've never actually had to setup or use a Nest but from looking through the feature sets of both, I can tell you that ecobee is definitely the better buy. FYI - I've had an ecobee in my home for about 3 years now and I've had the ecobee3 for about 6 months.

This is the third "smart" thermostat I have tried and I definitely found a WINNER! After an easy installation my home is comfortable in ALL rooms thanks to the help of the remote sensors the Ecobee3 incorporates in their thermostat. With the recent firmware update they have solved most of the negatives mentioned in earlier reviews. They listen to the customers needs/problems and react in a timely manner. Customer service is great as well.

I did a ton of research before buying the ecobee3. I needed the remote sensors, my thermostat is in the coldest room in my house, right above my garage. I love the customization, I didn't want something that would learn what I wanted it to do, and hopefully learn it right. This does a little of both, it learns some stuff, but also lets you define some.

This unit blows the competition out of the water. The remote sensors really make this unit stand out.

I was looking hard at the Nest but my parents went with this model. Once I had a chance to play around with it, I knew it was the way to go. I purchased the kit with the extra sensors and the first month I saved 111kw from the same billing period last year. Saved me 27 bucks and the average temperature was withing 1 degree.

I did a lot of research before buying Ecobee and seriously considered Nest. The more research I did the more I realized Nest wasn't up to the hype but the one thermostat that always came out on top was Ecobee. Read all the reviews and the experts. The best part of the Ecobee is the remote sensors. I purchased the extra sensors and they do wonders to equalize the temperature in the house.

Best thermostat with the richest APIs for full integration with home automation tools such as SmartThings. Just google My ecobee device and you'll find smartapps to fully automate your thermostat's settings whether you're home or away!!

The Ecobee3 has exceeded my expectations. Even my family and friends are now interested in getting one. I selected the Ecobee over the other brands since it could accommodate the lack of a "C" or common wire and a smartphone app that I could control and schedule the thermostat from anywhere. I have been using the device for 1 month and my experience has been good. The only issue I have experienced has been with the remote sensors loosing connection with the thermostat. I have either replaced the batteries or re-seated them and it appears that has worked.
