This eero router is amazing. Its signal reaches throughout my entire home and when combined with other eeros, the strength of the signal is insanely good. Absolutely love the ability to manage my devices and WiFi from anywhere with the eero app. Totally recommend this product!

Not a “Pro” device, personal data concerns

Was excited about a Wi-Fi 6e router at a great price, but with that price comes some very large limitations. Was coming from a Velop Wi-Fi 5 setup prior.
Here are the limitations:
- No browser interface to manage router, must use app
- WPA3 support is beta, is really WPA2/WPA3 not WPA3 Personal
- No ability for advanced network management, can’t configure a MAC address filter, which bands are in use, channels, anything
- No ability to manually configure device prioritization
Here are the privacy concerns:
- By default, your email address and name are used and uploaded to Facebook to be used for targeted advertising not only by Eero, but any advertisers that uses audience targeting. You have to email them with a specific subject line to opt-out
- By default, you are enrolled in a trial of their Secure service, which further uses your personal data
- Your device unique IDs are collected and used for targeting products and services to you. This unique ID allows advertisers to create profiles and link activity across 3rd parties
- Eero collects the unique IDs and MAC addresses of all devices that connect to your network
With an extremely limited ability to manage advanced settings, no ability manage the device from a browser, you can only use the app, no ability to see detailed logging of traffic on your network or what the router actually is doing, limited support for WPA3…you would be better off spending more money and getting a Wi-Fi 6e router that does not obscure it’s management functions and logging and provides finer-grained control over configuration.
This is not really a “Pro” device. If you are a novice and want an inexpensive 6e router and are not concerned about your personal data, then this is not a bad option. If you want more control over your network security and desire more transparency, try a device like Linksys Atlas AXE8400. That is what I am replacing this with.

Main unit sits in bedroom. Forgotten it’s even there. WiFi just works and I never really think about from where. Funny. Easy set up by the way.

I replaced 4 Google Mesh routers with 3 eero Pro 6E routers and my download speed doubled (200+ Mbps to 400+ Mbps). I highly recommend!

Easy to install and use this converted our home from a wifi network generated by a telcom router / gateway to a meshed network with broadcasting points through out the house not just where the router gateway is located. The erro app helps you manage the devices connected to your network and allows you to monitor network speed and other aspects

It’s a solid unit even as just a single router but if you need a extender thats where it shines with the mesh network. But I don’t need that really in my small two bedroom apartment it actually only has one small area where I could use it, honestly though my old router my internet provider gave me had less range and was wifi 5 even though im on 6 so i was not getting what i was paying for so this is a huge upgrade very happy and would recommend even as a router replacement let alone if you need mesh. The only problem i have and why it’s a 4 star vs 5 is even though it’s pretty simple to setup and stuff the app has a subscription it try’s to tell you you need which by the way you don’t fully need even though the stuff is useful that’s annoying and to tweak the settings for certain things it’s not easy to learn even though it’s mostly simple when you know how are where but that learning curve isn’t really user friendly. All in all the sales person at best buy was super helpful and the service was great hell even my provider was helpful when i got someone from the US on the line just the setup and app have a few hiccups, however it was worth it.

Easy to deploy, potential privacy issues

N.B.: If you have concerns about the privacy of your network information, this is probably not the device for you.
After my old Synology router died from overheating, I thought I would give eero a shot since they're recommended by my ISP, Sonic. Setup was surprisingly simple via the app, and IPv6 just works, which was certainly not true with my last router. Internet access also became noticeably more responsive, which makes sense given the age and failing hardware of my old router. What's a little surprising is that, in my 700 square foot apartment, I see a noticeable decrease in signal strength when I'm just down the hallway. I don't see any packet loss or significant latency, but I would expect the signal to be stronger.
A potential caveat with regard to the app-based setup: the app works even outside the network, which implies that the router is using a cloud-based service for configuration. This raises a few concerns. First of all, the router has administration access exposed to the Internet. Second, if eero goes out of business, the router will cease to be manageable, since the cloud service will go away. Finally, eero's privacy policy indicates that they don't track your Internet activity, but they do collect information such as your SSIDs, the hardware on your network, and network utilization and associate that information with you, personally. Their privacy policy indicates that this information may be shared with "affiliates," so make of that what you will.
Due to the app-based nature of management, people who really want to fiddle with their network will probably be dissatisfied. The app is very easy to use and shows quite a lot of information, but certain functionality, such as presenting daily or monthly network statistics, is only available if you buy a subscription to eero Plus. The app did show me that my HP printer was somehow downloading exactly 1 GB of data daily and uploading about 850 MB, but there's no way to get traffic analysis out of the router to see what the printer was connecting to, although perhaps this functionality is available in eero Plus.
And, of course, the curse of the mobile app is that it tries periodically to upsell you on the subscription and business offerings.
Pros:
* Easy to set up
* Fast
* Great IPv6 support
Cons:
* Somewhat limited range
* Advanced features require subscription
* Only one physical network port, so connecting more than one wired device requires a separate switch
* Cloud-based service raises privacy, security, and longevity concerns
On balance, I recommend the product for speed and ease of use, but I have some misgivings about the privacy implications of the company's data collection and would very much prefer to have the option to disable or restrict that capability.

I've been a fan of Eero's products since their first. I found the previous Wi-Fi 5 device at initial launch was a gamechanger and I have always been a fan of their customer service. However, I find the distance coverage of this model to be deceiving as I have a total of 4 devices needed to cover a one story 2100sp foot home. I believe this stems on recent software updates which have reduced distance from their first product (which required me to update to this model) and is now creating distance reductions in this model. Besides this issue, I find the product to stable and reliable and would recommend this to others.

Brand response from Amazon Devices Customer Support

Hi Schmeckelp. Thank you for your feedback on the eero Pro 6E. I'm sorry to hear about your range concerns. Each eero Pro 6E router provides coverage up to 2,000 sq. ft. Depending on the layout of your home and the materials used in its construction, more eeros could be needed. I hope this helps. Have a great day!

Judging them on their own terms, they're great. I have not had any performance issues, and they've generally improved performance of devices on my home network. I have been frustrated several times, however, by the lack of certain more advanced, granular features that I would have expected to be available (given Eero's reputation) — but I guess they didn't specifically promise me these features, so I can't hold it against them too much. There are some other quirks about the app and how administering the devices works (for example, in addition to my home Eero, I was also managing the Eero network at an organization I'm not longer a part of, but I could not find anyone to transfer admin responsibilities to, and since there's no way to just disassociate my account from that network *without* first switching it to another person, I am now stuck with access to this network I do not wish to be associated with. It's a long story, and it's a niche use case, I admit, but it's still annoying and I feel like the app could handle it better). Given these issues and the fact that Eero has opted to drop HomeKit support from their products, I would probably not use them if I had this to do over again.

A Wifi mesh service that finally works

Finally a Wifi mesh router that actually works. I can't tell you how many brands (including Google's) that I went through and struggled with. I've had this setup (router + 6 nodes) and the coverage has been flawless. I love the option to have a backup internet service provider as Cox is prone to go down for stupidly long stretches. So, I bought the T-Mobile 5GUW for $50/mo to act as a backup. The transition when Cox does go down is unnoticeable, and when Cox does decide to get its act back together then it gets moved back in to the drivers seat.
