    A Really Great Capture Card!

The Elgato HD 60 S is an awesome capture card! I bought this to stream my Nintendo Switch gameplay. It was very easy to set up and had no problems at all detecting it on my PC. I was able to capture and stream right away. It streams with high quality and hardly any input lag. You can either use the software Elgato provides on their website, or use it to stream on OBS. Just make sure you’re using “Video Capture Device” as the source of you are using OBS and you will see the HD 60 S to use. That took me a minute to figure out. Overall, this is a wonderful capture card and I would highly recommend if you are looking to stream or record console gameplay.

The Elgato Hd60s is a great capture card to stream and record your favorite games in excellent quality. However, the ease of use can be difficult if you are a mac user. If you are mac user you would have to download OBS Link which will allow you to deliver your gameplay to a OBS (Open Broadcasting Software) such as Streamlabs OBS. Nonetheless, it’s an awesome capture card!

Works perfectly with my ASUS Laptop! Follow the instructions and watch plenty of YouTube videos to set up. I perfer OBS to stream my games. This device needs a chat link if you plan on streaming console gaming systems with the HD60 S in order for your audience to hear your party.

Works so much better then HD60S+ especially if your streaming 1080P. Easier to setup and sound capture download that comes with game capture download saves you so much time if your running a dual PC setup.

I strongly recommend this card, I wanted to get the plus but this has given me exactly what I needed, it captures input 1920*1080, 59.94 FPS and output 29.97 progressive with 18.0mbps that’s 8.2GB per hr and of course audio is 224 kbps aac. Price is a bit high but, as they say, you get what you pay for.

This device saved my sanity! I am a streamer and am just getting off the ground, learning about hardware and what i need to get my production value to go up. i was running playstation remote play to my laptop and using OBS to catch my game play. it worked but that meant i had to play through my laptop. there was a noticable delay, not much but enough to cause a delay in my reaction times. if you play any kind of game you know that this is important. This capture card solved all of my issues. so this device goes in between the ps4 and the tv. it has a usb connection that feeds into my laptop. so instead of running al that software to capture my gameplay now i can use it as a simple usb input to catch my gameplay. it took a huge load off my laptop. it comes with a pretty good piece of software to help with the streaming. it has a nice interface but i am so used to running OBS that i kept using OBS. there are some capture cards out there that you can only use the software it comes with, but this guy connected to OBS with no issues. the only downside i can see is that i move my laptop around alot so i dont hook it up to my laptop unless im streaming. so i had to find a usb power source to keep the video going to the tv. you could disconnect it but lets face it, its easier to leave everything connected. i dont want to deal with all those cables everytime i want to stream. but i love the lights on it. its just a simple row of led, but its nice. i was able to leave the capture card in view and i think it makes a nice display piece in my streaming space. then at that price you cant really go wrong. very very affordable! its also small enough that you can hide it if you want without any issues. WTG elgato. you made a fan of me!

I write this from the perspective of someone completely new to video game capture (which isn't much different from regular video capture). I was recommended the HD60 S model by a lot of gamers online, so my choice was easily made for me. — DIFFERENCES — The main difference between the HD60 and HD60 S is that the S has the lowest delay between the game on your TV and the preview on your computer. I also got it because it records at one resolution setting of your choice while the HD60 can steam at one resolution while recording at another. The HD60 S also comes with a USB-C to USB cable versus a USB to USB cable. — SETUP — Setup was easy and intuitive. It comes with two cables: one HDMI and one USB-C to USB cable. It's pretty self-explanatory as to what cable goes where. Plug an HDMI cable from your game console to the capture device, then plug another HDMI cable from the capture device to your TV, then plug the USB-C cable from your capture device to your computer. Go online and find the software to install (the link is mentioned in the box) and you're done. After the software is installed, research online which settings are best for your video game system, or, if you know what you're doing you can choose exactly what you want. If you plan on editing this, the usual route is to record at a high setting (1080p) and reduce down to what you need. At least that's what I do. From there, you can organize your raw video files and edit using your preferred editing software. — SUMMARY — This device is the distillation of simplicity and usability. Anyone can easily understand and use this device. Recommended.

The Elgato Game Capture HD60 S is great piece of hardware for anybody just starting to stream/record gameplay. Its very simple to use if you are comfortable with using any type hardware that connects to your PC or Laptops. Some hurdles you could have if you don't read the fine print is the fact you need a pretty up to date computer at least an i5 processor with an up to date windows 10 to able to use it and on the hardware side you NEED to have USB 3.0 or you will have a very fancy paper weight! If you pass those qualifications then get ready to game and stream. Setting it up takes no time and the instructions inside the box are very easy to follow with illustrations to help! When you finally connect to your Nintendo Switch, XBOX One and PS5 to your computer, it should automatically start installing all necessary software including the elgato game capture and sound capture. They are very simple programs to help you both understand and help you capture game play and capture your sound if you have a mic (The elgato Game Capture HD60 S does come with audio jack that connects to almost all mics). Once all that is set up and running you can start capturing game play or streaming! It is a great piece of hardware with a little bit of a learning curb but once you master it, it is fun to use and makes streaming/recording become second habit. I super recommend this product!

I have to admit I balked at the price tag for the HD60 S for a bit before purchasing, but I'm so glad I did. Not only does this work wonders for capturing and streaming game content if that's your jam, but I've also been able to use this to stream some party games with my family over Zoom. The included software is solid, and there are plenty of other great programs it's compatible with. Just make sure you get those drivers installed. Took me a bit to get things running, but now it's a plug-and-play dream. Highly recommend.

I bought this mainly so that I can stream my Nintendo Switch over on my Twitch page. This device is extremely easy to setup and use. The image quality is good, and the passthrough works flawlessly. I've yet to have an issue while using it. With that said, I also tried one of the many Chineseum capture cards that have recently hit the market, and the quality those offer are surprisingly close to what the Elgato offers. The only perceivable difference I noticed on the stream side was the reds looked off on the Chinese one I purchased. Elgato does offer good software with their device, though you admittedly don't need it. This does offer a slightly better ease of use than other products of the same category. It stays extremely cool to the touch compared to the Chinese capture card I have, which implies it'll last longer. So what does it come down? If slightly difference color temperatures will bother you, the Elgato offers the closest colors to what you're seeing personally at a fairly steep cost. The Elgato also stays cool to the touch and is able to be run off a single USB cable + the two HDMI cables. The Elgato also offers support channels that will help you setup anything you have questions with. The Chinese capture card used as my comparison offers a very similar image quality, with reds being off ever so slightly. It does get warm to the touch, but not hot. And it requires two USB cables (one for power, one for data to the computer) + the two HDMI cables. There's no support offered, and no companies to get replacements should it fail. Overall, the Elgato offers the best, but it is costlier. I'd likely still go with the Elgato personally, but with the flood of new, cheap capture cards I feel the Elgato is starting to slip on if it should be recommended or not. Simply do your research, and make the decision on your own as to what best fits your needs.

I have an internal version of this brand in my PC but I like this version much better. Although the internal version might have better performence but this one is far more convinient. I don't need very long cable to hook my camera any more. And this one works on Mac too which is very useful if you have a IMac because whit this guy, you IMac could be used as a external monitor! Installation was easy, just plug into the USB port and install the driver and software, you are good to go.

I recently had to purchase a new laptop as the old one was showing it's age and couldn't quite handle playing the latest games and streaming at the same time. It puts a great deal of strain on system resources when you are making your computer do double duty of running demanding games, while also making it capture, record and render video at the same time. The old laptop is still plenty powerful enough to handle single workloads like capturing or editing video. So to make things easier on myself I purchased the Elgato Game Capture HD60 S. Now I can have the new laptop play the game at max settings, and simply send a copy of the screen output to my other laptop to record and stream it. No more fighting over which process (the game or the video capture/stream) has use of the Video Card (GPU), Processor (CPU) and Memory (RAM). Each machine has it's own dedicated task and the HD60 S manages sending the video over for me. This has allowed me to stream at much higher quality and with better stability as well. I have used this to stream to Twitch, Mixer, YouTube and also to record video locally for editing. I have had very little difficulty with getting it setup. The only pain point was getting the audio sent from my new laptop to the old laptop via the HD60 S so that my video capture and stream has the game audio while also being able to hear it myself on the headset connected to the new laptop. This was fairly easy to resolve once I did some research online about audio configuration with a 2 PC setup using the Elgato Game Capture and Sound Capture Software. This may be a bit more challenging if you are not very technical with computer settings, but a quick search online and watching a couple of Youtube videos should help if you have issues with it. If you are capturing from a gaming console instead of another PC, this will not be an issue as they automatically send audio over the HDMI to your television by default. I am very happy with my purchase and definitely recommend it to anyone looking to use a dual PC setup for streaming or capturing gameplay video.

Seamless streaming. Very easy to set up and good software. If you want to go cheaper routes that's totally fine but I feel like if you spend up just a little for this, it's worth it and you'll encounter less troubles than you would with an off brand cheaper capture card.
