I really liked how easy it is to use the printer. I connected to the printer with my phone so easily without difficulties and printed some photos from my phone’s library photos so easily using the 4x6 inches semi gloss paper in which I was able to easily switch to from the original paper form. The color quality from the photos that I printed out from the 4x6 inch paper was perfect for me, thus far I have no complains and I can wait to continue exploring the other quality options that the printer has to provide. I’m highly satisfied with my printer that I purchased.

So far the printer has done very well, fairly easy setup. Not very noisy. Prints much quicker than my older Epson. Does well connected and wirelessly. Interested to see how long my ink lasts, but I’m sure will be much better than the small individual inks. Wasn’t thrilled with the price, think it is a bit high. Should have waited for a sale but when need you one? You buy. For the price, $500 + tax+warranty=$600 you would think it would also do 8.5x14, but does not. The screen is smaller and harder to use than my XP-7100. Have not tried to do a good quality color picture yet.

The Epson EcoTank ET-4950 is a very good all-around printer that delivers excellent value, especially for users who print frequently. Once set up correctly, it performs extremely well and saves a significant amount of money on ink. Pros: ✔ Exceptional value for the price — long-term ink savings easily justify the upfront cost ✔ Extremely low ink costs thanks to the EcoTank system ✔ Very high ink yield ✔ Fast print speeds ✔ Easy installation and setup for basic printing ✔ Duplex printing and duplex scanning work very well once properly configured ✔ Excellent print quality on both regular paper and photo glossy paper ✔ Photos print beautifully with great color and resolution Cons: ✖ Duplex printing setup is confusing – Required settings in the print menus are not obvious – If you don’t know what to change, duplex printing can be frustrating to configure – The output tray automatically extends during printing, which is nice, but there is no documentation explaining how to retract it – A very small, hard-to-notice icon at the top of the display must be tapped to retract the tray—this is not intuitive – It took three hours on the phone with tech support to resolve duplex printing issues – During troubleshooting, the printer printed one side, paused about 30 seconds, then printed the second side; this was resolved after installing the correct drivers and adjusting print menu settings ✖ Duplex scanning is very sensitive to paper condition – Requires pristine paper – Any bends, creases, or imperfect alignment can cause paper jams – Paper guides must be set precisely to avoid feeding issues Overall Impression: Despite some frustrating setup and customer support issues—especially related to duplex printing—the Epson EcoTank ET-4950 delivers outstanding ink savings, strong performance, and excellent print quality. Once properly configured, it is reliable, economical, and well-suited for home offices and high-volume printing users who don’t mind spending some time on setup. Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (4.5 out of 5 stars)

Really happy with the Epson EcoTank ET-4950. The ink tanks save a lot of money compared to regular cartridges, and the print quality is great for both documents and color prints. Setup was easy and the wireless printing from my phone works perfectly. Great printer for home or a small office. Highly recommend.

I absolutely love this printer. Have always had an HP Officejet with extremely expensive cartridges.decided to change out the printer for something more sustainable since I have been working from home a lot and need a lot of printing done. This is an amazing printer. Easy set up. Easy scanning, great quality prints. Double sided printing and scanning. Absolutely amazing and I cannot believe we did not make the change sooner.

huge upgrade over our last printer. bought this primarily for the automatic document feeding and automatic duplex printing. i also love being able to ditch ink cartridges. the only downside so far is that automatic duplex printing is not available for A5, which to be honest was the main size we wanted to print double-sided (for planner refills) so that’s a bit of a bummer, to put it lightly. it does work fine for A4 though, so i suppose we’ll just be buying a guillotine to print two sets at once and cut in half.

After using cartridge-based ink jet printers over the years, I finally purchased the Eco Tank. Why did I wait so long?! Maybe it was the higher acquisition cost, but in a short time I have learned that the cost of ownership is much more affordable. A great printer that balances speed, print quality, functionality and cost of consumables. The automated document feeder is a great feature.

The refillable ink is great. The print quality is really good, not really fast. The reason only has three stars is because it won’t stay connected to the Wi-Fi and it won’t always recognize a laptop so you have to go and reset the settings probably once a week sometimes more often. May work better with a direct cable hook up, but I bought it so that I could print remotely.

This is my second experience with a refillable “mega-tank” style printer. The last one from Canon was...pretty good. This is my first experience with an Epson EcoTank design, and I must say, I am quite impressed! It is maybe a bit pricey when you consider it’s an ink jet, but the value proposition for the price it commands comes from its all-in-one capabilities, generous paper capacity, some neat design tricks to keep the footprint down to a minimum, and the cavernous see-through refillable ink wells that can last, with reasonable use, maybe 2-3 years between fill-ups! Let’s start with the ET-4950's admirable hardware specs. Epson put some effort into designing a printer that could go further than just “good enough.” Print resolution maxes out at 4800 x 1200 dpi while hardware scanning resolution is a more than respectable 1200 x 2400 dpi--software interpolation pushes scanned images and media resolution all the way up to 9600 dpi for archival digitization or high-definition media capture. The paper tray holds a hearty 250 sheets, and 2-sided (!!!) printing AND scanning capabilities dramatically cut down on input time and paper consumption. The hinges of the flatbed scanner cover also extend upwards to accommodate thicker books and other irregular materials for scan and copy functions. Unlike most printers that unfold into a big spidery mess, the ET-4950 cleverly keeps everything pretty close to the vest. Instead of unfolding the ADF and paper feed tray out and further up, the scanner cover offers a “drop-down” access panel that keeps plastic bits and pieces extending beyond the edges of the printer to an absolute minimum. A front fold-up flap features a small but legible 2.4” color touchscreen which provides for easy access to all major functions and configuration settings without having to use the companion app. But the real “ooh” factor here comes from the auto extending/retracting paper output tray. When a print job is started, the paper tray automatically extends from the printer’s innards like an exit ladder extending from the front of a spaceship. And yes, when you want to power the printer down, the paper output tray can retract automatically as well. This keeps the whole printer as uncluttered, streamlined, and unobtrusive as possible until you NEED to use it—this helps consume a little less tabletop real estate than most larger home or small-office all-in-ones. The transparent ink wells are a BIG step up from the competition, at least in terms of what we saw in the last model we used. Ink bottles are HUGE with supplies estimated to be roughly equivalent to 80 cartridges. Each bottle has a unique set of shoulder cutouts and tabs that mate with the corresponding ink tank’s cut-outs near the filler cap. This is critical for helping ensure that you don’t accidentally mix colors with the wrong ink in the wrong color well. There also appears to be some sort of valve setup in the bottle and tank toppers because all you need to do is flip the ink bottle over, slide into place above the filler hole, and the ink simply drains into the tank until it’s full. At that point...it just stops filling--no mess, no drip, no need to squeeze the bottles or tap it on the table, the ink simply stops flowing when the tank is full. Each of the starter bottles came with enough ink to fill up the ink tank (which, BTW, has a clever LCD ring around the fold-down cover that changes colors in time with filling instructions or supplies status making ink operations even more idiot-proof than they already are) with a little left to spare. I figured great...I’ll have some extra ink to top off one of the colors I burn through quicker than the others, but the 11-minute initialization process sucked down a HUGE amount of ink from the initial fill-up across all four tanks...down to the next fill level marker below the top! Obviously, Epson was planning ahead as the excess ink left in each bottle was enough to top the tanks back up to 100%! Connectivity options are plentiful with USB, Ethernet, FAX, and WiFi connectivity. The wireless network card is supposedly dual-band (2.4/5Ghz), but I had trouble setting mine up on our 5Ghz whole-house mesh network, even just 10 feet away from our router with direct line of sight. I switched over to our 2.4Ghz network and everything came up on the network immediately. About 5 minutes later, the printer mysteriously switched back over to the 5Ghz network and stayed there. All in all, it took me a good 30 minutes to get the printer unboxed, un-taped, filled, initialized, configured on our network, and ready to print...probably the longest printer setup routine I’ve ever encountered. BUT, the trouble seems to be worth it because the performance since then has been rock-solid with zero network drop-offs or disconnects since we put it into service. Printing noise levels are surprisingly low...the ET-4950 can easily be used in a small office environment without greatly disturbing others around you. Printing speed is reasonably fast for an inkjet with text-based single-sided jobs completing in just under 4 seconds per page...color printing obviously takes a bit longer at about 7 seconds per page while VERY large color prints at max quality took about 40 seconds. Text quality is exceptional and color print quality, even on plain paper, is vibrant and deep. It doesn’t match the output quality of a dedicated high-quality photo printer, nor is it as fast as a laser (obviously), but the ET-4950's performance in both those capacities is very VERY competitive. The ability to COMPLETELY dispense with changing out ink cartridges, and the ability to do it totally mess and error-free, is also a shot in the arm to those of us who don’t want to leave our kids contending with a South-American-sized mass of discarded ink cartridges when they grow up and inherit the earth. Minor setup hiccups aside, the Epson ET-4950 turned out to be an exceptionally capable multi-function printer with a footprint that belies its more high-capacity capabilities. Definitely recommended if you have medium/moderate home office or small office printing/scanning needs.

If you are like me its really annoying to have to keep buying expensive small ink cartridges that run out at the worst possible time. That's why the idea of a "Supertank" printer is so interesting. I took a look at the Epson EcoTank ET-4950, and it truly does seem to live up to its claim of getting rid of the cartridge trap. The Epson ET-4950 is a modern-looking all-in-one printer that feels sturdy and is ideal for use in a home office or small business. One of the first things you'll notice is that instead of cartridges, you get bottles of ink. Filling the printer's built-in tanks is surprisingly quick and easy. The EcoFit bottles are specially designed so that you can't unintentionally pour the wrong color into the wrong tank. No mess, no stress. There are easy instructions for setting everything up, and after the drivers are installed, you're good to go. This printer isn't just about saving on ink it's a full-featured machine that can print, copy, scan, and even fax. Quality of the print: The quality is great Epson's PrecisionCore Heat Free technology makes printed documents look very sharp, and color photographs and graphics look great and bright, It can print on a lot of different types of media and has a high print quality of 4800 x 1200 which is perfect for anything from school projects to professional looking images. Speed: Its pretty fast for an inkjet printer in a home office It can print in black at a rate of 18 pages per minute (ppm) and in color at a rate of 9 ppm. This is a big step up from the ET-4850, which came before this. The 30-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) is a great productivity boost because it lets you scan both sides of a document at the same time. It also has automatic two-sided printing, which is a terrific way to save paper. Getting your documents to the printer is easy because of connectivity. It supports both Wi-Fi and Ethernet so you can connect to your network without any problems, The Epson Smart Panel app is another great feature that lets you print, scan, and manage the printer right from your phone or tablet. Let's talk about the ink, which is the major reason to buy this printer. The ET-4950 comes with enough ink to last for three years. That's enough to produce about 5,500 color pages and 6,600 black pages. In other words, a new set of ink bottles is about the same as 90 separate ink cartridges. The initial cost may seem more than that of a regular inkjet printer, but the savings over time are very large. If you do the math the cost per page is really minimal. You may make back the money you spent on the printer in as little as three reams of paper (approximately 1500 pages) compared to what you'd pay for cartridges for a less expensive printer. If you print a lot, it's a no-brainer. Also, you're making a lot less plastic waste, which is good for the environment. The Epson EcoTank ET-4950 is a great option for a home office, a small business, or a household with a lot of kids. If you print a few hundred pages a month for school, business, or family photos, this printer will probably save you a lot of money and trouble in the long run. If you made the move to this printer you will never go back to cartridges, It offers everything most people need, outstanding quality, good speed, and the all-in-one features to tackle any work. I will highly recommend for anyone who wants to make a wise long-term investment in their printing setup because it has a lot of great features and minimal running costs.

We have all had home printers and what everyone hates is how fast they run out of ink and it happens exactly the day that you need to print something. Worry no more as the Epson ET-4950 is the answer with ink that just doesn’t run out. The Epson ET-4950 is a cartridge-less printer that you refill the ink, Epson has made everything super simple. The app is wonderful and set up process was a breeze, it does take about 20-30 minutes to set up so be warned. The app for the printer is easy to navigate and lets you make any/all adjustments, you can even print remotely through the app itself or by emailing the documents to a designated email address. This worked wonderfully for the few pages I tried. The app is full featured and you can create collages/ creative templets and even share the printer with a guest without having to allow them on your WiFi. One thing I didn’t except was the integration with google classroom for the teachers out there.. As mentioned at the start the best thing about this printer is that the ink LAST, Epson has rated it at 5000+ pages for black/white and color prints. Now this number is unheard off and there is no way I am going to print that much stuff anytime soon, however I did print about 40 pages (all color) and the color ink did not budge even one bit. The ET-4950 allows you to connect via ethernet wire or WiFi with 2.4 or 5 ghz. Which is a must as the 2.4 ghz wireless gets clogged quick. I am so thankful that they Epson decided to go with ethernet ports instead of the old propriety cable like most printers. The Epson also allows you to use fax if needed. I connected through WiFi and had no issues with connecting, the remote prints took a little longer to come through but while at home everything was snappy. When printing color I was able to get about 14 prints per minute, now this is lower than advertised but keep in mind this isn’t a laser printer. Print quality was excellent but you must turn up the print quality, it is on low by default. When I originally printed I noticed a lot of jagged edges however this was fixed once the print quality was raised. I also noticed that adjusting the paper type makes a huge difference in quality, when using photo paper adjust accordingly. Now the only thing I didn’t like about the printer is the printing tray, it is motorized and you have to close it or else it just sticks out. I personally prefer is the printing try is tucked away since that reduces the changes of it being damaged by kids/animals and mostly adults. The Epson ET-4950 is a great printer with one small fault. The app is simple to set up and use and offers a ton of features that are ready to go out of the box. The touch screen is super responsive and bright enough for a well lite room. The printer tray issue is a small one but besides that this is a great printer for any home or small office.

My new Epson ET-4950 Ecotank printer replaced an older Epson Ecotank printer. I wanted something with automatic document feeder and fax. I don't use either feature frequently, but I just wanted to have them. It took me a while to figure out how to use the FAX but it appears to work. I have my new printer placed in a side cabinet under my L shaped desk. Because the LCD panel faces straight forward, it is difficult to read. But I hopefully won't need to use it much. It's definitely larger than my previous Epson unit. People replacing older printers should do measurements first. The FAX feature adds FAX capabilities to Apple iOS. To the best of my knowledge, the new Apple iOS is not usable with an ordinary fax modem as I once had. Ink refilling is MUCH easier than on my old Ecotank. The ink reservoir is now on the front of the printer instead of on the side. And the newly designed ink bottles and reservoir openings are not as prone to leaking during filling or when the printer is moved.

I’ve been using the Epson ET-4950 for a while now, and overall, it’s a reliable all-in-one printer that fits well in my home workspace. The EcoTank feature is a game-changer—it’s convenient and saves money on ink. Setup was intuitive using the Epson Smart Panel mobile app and took about 15 minutes. Printing anything from my phone is super easy—documents, photos, whatever I need, it’s a few taps away. One thing I really like is the pull-out touchscreen. It’s responsive and makes navigating settings a breeze compared to button-only models. Printing and scanning quality are solid for everyday use, and it’s pretty fast too — up to 18 pages per minute (PPM) for black and 9 PPM for color. That speed helps a lot with routine tasks. I Installed the print drivers on both my wife's computer and mine. For some reason when I tried to initiate a scan, I only see her computer. Mine is no listed. However, I can initiate and produce a scan just fine if I open the software on my computer first. Hopefully just a software glitch. Photo printing is good, but not perfect at the default setting. I find the photo a little under saturated and perhaps a little more red than the original. You can make color changes with the Epson Photo+ app to get closer. I do wish it had a manual paper feed. With only one tray, switching between paper types isn’t as flexible as I’d like. Pros: • Cost-saving refillable EcoTank system • Intuitive setup via the Epson mobile app (about 15 min) • Easy wireless printing from my phone • Fast print speeds (18 PPM black / 9 PPM color) • User-friendly pull-out touchscreen • Clean and efficient printing and scanning Cons: • No manual feed tray for specialty paper • Photo prints are a bit off on color Overall - great daily printer for 1 and 2 sided printing, Scanning and copies. If you are into strictly photo printing, I would look for another option.
