I got this for my son for Christmas and we spent the day after trying to put this together. The instructions are very vague and at time were hard to understand. Once we got it together we were not able to get the drive chain to work properly. After 4 hours of building we just wanted it to work but it would not.

Lots of pieces to put together and also a motor. What more could a builder ask for? Can be taken apart and rebuilt over and over again. Never ending fun!

This is a really cool toy along the lines of the old Erector sets. I bought it for my grandson who will be 8 this summer because that was the age on the set. My grandson is pretty good at putting things together (like Legos) he is very patient. Be prepared to help your child put this together. Mom couldn't do it, Dad couldn't do it (no surprise there) and it took my about 4 hrs to put it together. It was fun and you get to spend a lot of time with your child or granchild, just be prepared for that. Once done though it is fun to play with and look at, gives a real sense of accomplishment.

Assembled exactly per instructions. Cars could coast down perfectly but chain drive constantly catches on track then proceeds to eat itself. Huge frustrating Christmas morning disappointment. Promptly returned all 700+ parts in grocery bags because sealed clear bags in a box is how it's shipped. Don't buy this thing unless you intend to punish the recipient.

So many pieces but provides hours of non-iPad/electronic fun! My cousin loved it.

My 6yo has loved this, needs a little help but good family fun.

It has legions of tiny pieces and the directions are 30 pages long and hard to follow.

Very fun to build with my son he loves playing with it.

Had a great time building with nephew. Would recommend to anyone who wants to bring fun back to the living room and off of the tv/internet/phone

Looks fun on the box but is in fact kind of meh. Not a lot to build with.

Kid really liked the set. Had fun building the track and getting it going. Lots of fun family time getting it set up.

Although the age limit on the box says a lot older than my daughter it's still real easy to follow the directions !

This looked like coolest thing ever so I bought it for Christmas for my 5 1/2 yo add son. There is no way an 8 year old could possibly navigate the instructions; which were lacking much needed detail, were unclear and confusing. Some pieces don't properly fit together, so the joices are not all connected, others break while snapping them together. Once we got the thing built (it took 2 days), the chain catches and began breaking the structure. This is a cheap piece of garbage. There was clearly no cut expense missed in the manufacturing and I can honestly say I will never be buying anything from FAO Schwartz again.

Waste of my money for a present! Continually fell apart, had to use super glue to keep the pieces together.

The instructions are absolutely worthless and do not match the picture on the box at all. The tolerances on the little tiny plastic pieces are horribly inconsistent with some requiring a hydraulic press to assemble and others fitting so poorly that they simply fall apart when you try and assemble them. After my kid and I tried for days we finally quit. I hate this toy so much I am finding it on multiple websites and copy pasting this review in the hopes that other parents do not have to go through the same frustration.
