I switched over from a TIVO OTA with Mini's setup to using the Amazon Recast with ver2 firesticks. Setup was easy, took about 15 minutes with update. I have a pretty good router, a nighthawk, and wifi more than occastionally becomes blocky/spotty. Luckily, I had setup my tivo mini's with ethernet conncetions via powerline adapters. After plugging in via ethernet, everything became clear with no problems. My tv's are now totally in the Amazon ecosystem which makes it extremely convenient.

My wife likes to record over the air programs when dont have time to watch when on. Easy to set up recording. Got on sale great price. Has lots of storage and multiple chanel recording at same time

I love this little DVR. It is a great way to cut the cord. Just hook up an HD antenna, and you are ready to stream antenna TV to your TV and record it as well. Great product.

Awesome. Integrated with Amazon fire TV so everything is in 1 app. Recording is a breeze, and using the tv guide and watching outside the home is free!

The Amazon Fire TV Recast is an easy to use DVR that lets you record over the air programs for later viewing. It has plenty of room to record your favorite shows and optional setup capabilities for recording. The biggest plus is there is no monthly fee. Just be aware that it is only over the air programs and not APP driven shows. So for right now, you have to watch them as they are playing and not record for later viewing.

Was quick and easy to setup with Fire TV Cube over wired ethernet, easy to get configured and tuner scanned for channels. Like that it integrates DVR channels with Live TV view with other apps. A downside which is likely more of a Fire TV channel guide issue is the lack of ability to page up/down, and takes getting used to the font resizing while navigating which is initially distracting.

Setup of the Recast with my existing Firestick was quick and easy. There is a learning curve on how to use the product, but beyond that coming from Tivo I am extremely satisfied.

Very easy to use and great for recording live TV. Also will connect to other Fire TV's through wifi so you do not have to have more than one HDTV antenna.

The Fire TV Recast gets the correct OTA channel lineup information for my area and does not cost extra. It integrates very well with the Fire Stick (only works with Amazon Fire Sticks). It has 4 tuners, but only 2 tv's can stream at a time. The stream is 720P. Got it on sale, which made it a very good value.

We cut the cord quite a few years ago but when I put together a 4K projector setup I came across the unique challenge of getting antenna/OTA signal to it since neither the projector or receiver have coax inputs. We were already firmly entrenched in the FireTV ecosystem so when the Recast was announced I jumped on it. After having about 18 months with it now I can say I’m still solidly impressed. We have two 4K FireTV sticks and five 4K FireTV edition televisions and this is our primary driver for OTA signal. We have small kids now so we tend to congregate in the same room or two at most so being limited to two active tuners has not proven to be an issue yet, although it could be in the future. I had some challenges with the app recognizing the device during setup but it has mostly been issue free since then. While I bought this primarily to get OTA signal on the projector, being able to utilize the DVR function for kids programming has proven invaluable. It would be great if the onboard storage was larger or easier to expand. We’ve been very happy with it thus far though.

Got it from Best Buy mainly because at the time they were considerably cheaper than Amazon. Was very pleased that it got here as fast as Amazon. It uses very little data because it records from your antenna to hard drive unlike others like Sling which is a constant stream plus a monthly fee. Tivo has the best UI, but has that fee. You need a Amazon fire stick or better to use this, but that's a one time cost also. No fees. If OTA isn't enough, just add something strong but cheap like Netflix or Hulu, but keep in mind you can only record OTA TV.

Great integration of Amazon’s fire tv interface with an over the air DVR. 4 tuners and 1 TB of storage space means you’ll never miss a program or run out of space. Would be nice if you could watch on 4 different tv’s but you are limited to 2.

This is a great addition to my system enabling me to cut the cord and get rid of DirecTV. I like the integration with the FireTV stick menu so that everything is in one place. I would say it's shortcomings are the lack of being able to set up show recordings from the mobile apps (you have to do this from your "in-home" system) and lack of textual search for upcoming TV shows. Hopefully these features will come in a future software update. But beyond those minor quibbles, overall the experience is good and it works reliably.

The recast DVR is a good alternative to cable tivos and such. This one is the 4 tuner model but you can only view on two tvs at the same time through fire sticks. I can only hope that a future update would expand viewers to match the number of tuners in the unit.

OTA tv channels can pause and rewind Live Free TV! you can record up to 3 channels and watch one or any combination of the 4 tuners that are built in. The only downsides are that it compresses the picture to 720P and requires you to use a Fire TV stick or cube to watch on a TV since it has no HDMI output. But it's great you can even watch live and recorded tv when you are not home!

So I finally in and made the jump to recast. We have a TiVo bout for 4 years and it was just about to renew for another year at $149. The recast is everything it advertises to be. We already used a fire stick for all our streaming needs so this was a natural fit. Easy setup, works great, no downside yet. We already had an antenna on the roof from when we cut the cord in 2017 so there was extra things to worry about. Love it, you will too!

Fairly good responsiveness. Does exactly what it is designed to do. It’s only down side is that it does occasionally need to be rebooted as its sleep mode must tax the system too much. We’ve missed many recordings due to the system locking up while in sleep mode. The problem is not consistent enough to just give up on; but definitely frustrating at times. Far superior to paying for a subscription DVR.

The device works well if you have a good place to put an antenna. If not, you may not get all of your local channels. The integration with Fire TV is ok but could use some improvement.

We are so happy with the amazon recast. Got it on sale so it was only $159.99 for the 1tb drive. Took it home connected it right to our antenna and it works great. And that what great about it. It just works! Connected right to all my fire sticks and boom all my local channels for free. Called and canceled directv the very next day and so far 3months latter have not regretted it on bit. Channels seam to be clearer than what I was getting with directv.
