Q: Can I record all movies & live TV that broadcasts from my firestick? Can I set the recorder to record programs while I'm away?

A: Yes and no. This adds regular over the air (antenna) TV and recording (DVR) of that TV only to your fire TV. So you can record all of your favorite shows while you are away - so long as they are from antenna TV.

Q: I was wondering what would be the best antenna for the recast and since we live in a rural area. Maria

A: I live in the country and I have an outdoor antenna that reaches 60+ miles. It works great! You just have to determine how far you are from the station towers and get an antenna that reaches them.

Q: I know nothing about a recast and have questions. 1. I only have one smart tv out of 3 tv's. Can I watch a recorded program on a non-smart LED HD TV? 2. How many Fire sticks do I need? 3. I have an antennae already, do I need to buy a different one?

A: You will need a Fire Stick for the TV you want to watch the program from the Recast on. The Recast will only broadcast to a Fire Stick. I have a Fire Stick for all of my TVs, but if you don't want to buy 3 Fire Sticks you can always just move the Fire Stick from TV to TV. I have an old (pre-digital) antennae mount on a pole outside my house and it works fine. I have had the Fire Recast and Fire Sticks set up for about 3 months now and have been very happy.

Q: I don't have any smart TV's and really don't want to buy one. 1. Can I still use the Fire Recast 1TB DVR? 2. Which DVR is the best for performance, TIVO or Fire Recast 1TB? I want to cut the cable to Uverse when the promotion is up.

A: The Fire Recast only works with a Fire Stick. You can still use the TVs you have, but you will need a Fire Stick to plug into any TV you wish to watch the Fire Recast on or you will need to move a Fire Stick from TV to TV. I even us it on on of my old TVs that doesn't have an HDMI, I just had to purchase an adapter which was around $20. I have no experience with the TIVO, but have been using the Fire Recast for about 3 months and it has worked great.

Q: Is there a monthly subscription fee for channel programming.

A: No. It’s the best part of recast!

Q: If we had a bad storm and lost our internet connection would we still be able to playback movies we have recorder? Also, would it allow me to record other stuff such as YouTube videos? Thanks, Ted

A: Yes, anything that’s recorded should still play through you home network. As for you second question, the Fire TV Recast can only record OTA shows. This means you can only record with a digital antenna receiving local broadcast shows. As for any internet/streaming material like such as YouTube, it cannot record any streaming content. Only live TV content- OTA.

Q: how any firesticks can you hook up to your amazon account? how many can recast at one time?

A: I have 3 Firesticks connected to mine, I dont know if there is a true limit. If you have the 4 tuner model, you can watch or record 4 things at a time. so in my instance, I can watch 3 different shows from my recast and record a 4th all at once. This will probably be affected by the level of your router speed in terms of quality of streaming but the recast itself can do this. Internet speed doesnt matter because you are recording from the OTA, and streaming to devices on your home network. Though you can stream to mobile devices but I haven't tried that yet.
