Customers are saying

Customers admire the Zip Wireless Activity Tracker's ease of use, small size, and accurate step tracking capabilities. Many appreciate its motivational features and find it reasonably priced. However, some users point to inconsistent battery life and a display that can be difficult to read as drawbacks. The limited feature set compared to more expensive models is also a recurring concern.

Awful ... Just Awful ... Don't Even Consider Item

My doctor requested I purchase an activity tracker, so I can track my fitness, and report the results to her. I am recuperating from a brain injury, so tracking all my movements and food intake is a great idea, and theoretically, Fitbit is the perfect product. I purchased a Fitbit Zip on January 19, 2017, and started to use it January 20. After a few hours of use, I had to replace the battery. Last night, I had to replace the battery for the fourth time. At a battery per week, this device is going to get expensive. The display is difficult to see. It is not backlit. A tap on the screen should allow the user to cycle through the items, but a hard slap is what is really required. After a time, I fear I will break the device just trying to cycle through the display. The belt clip is horrible. The plastic tip kept falling off and was difficult to put back on. It finally broke off and is lost. Now the metal part of the clip sticks out and pokes my skin. With all this fussing with the belt clip, the rest of the holder is falling apart and the tracker slips out of the holder. I have been treating this device as if it were made of fine China, but it is more fragile than even that. It’s a cheap piece plastic junk. In order to sync the device to my phone, the following steps must be followed: 1. Turn off any device attached to phone via Bluetooth. Turn off Bluetooth. 2. Reboot phone. While phone is rebooting, remove battery from Fitbit Zip and wait 20 seconds before reinserting it. 3. Once phone has reboot, turn on Bluetooth, but don’t attach anything to it. Make sure all background apps and services on phone are turned off. 4. Sync Zip with phone and wait upwards of three minutes before sync completes or fails. During this three minutes, battery will suffer severe drainage. 5. If sync fails, repeat all these steps over and over and over and over again until success. I wrote to Fitbit Support to request they honor their warranty, but they won’t. They said they sent a replacement tracker, but they sent it via regular US Mail, without a tracking number. Now some Postal employee is making use of my tracker. Fitbit now tells me to return my defective tracker to them, at my expense, then in about a month or so, they may send a replacement one to me. Their package will be sent via regular mail, without a tracking number, so there is no telling if I will ever receive a replacement. I regret my purchase, and I regret falling for all the Fitbit hype. My friends tell me that they love their Fitbits, but they all have the expensive watch-style devices. My mistake was purchasing the low-cost model, which is an expensive ($60.00) cheap piece of S***. I would be better off with a pencil and a pad of paper. Manually count my steps and write them down. That method works better than the Zip.

I am using this as a replacement for my Fitbit One that simply couldn't take a runners punishment. It has less bells and whistles but I don't need it to track sleep, elevation, or even nutrition (online), just steps. So far, I'm pretty happy with it and it's capabilities. It works better for my needs in fact than the One did (and it's sweat proof which my One wasn't).

Cool little fitness tracker. It syncs via bluetooth to your moble device and comes with a dongle to hook up to you computer if need be. Set up is simple and the only complaint is that the clip itself seems like it could break after repeated use.

    Good, small, unobtrusive pedometer

Unit measures steps accurately, uploads to computer once setup and synced. Graphs your movements (or lack of) throughout the day so you get a good idea about how sedentary you are. Clip does not go over belt. Clip case a little flimsy. However its so small I clip it to my pocket. So small and lite it will probably end up in the washer.

Got this item as an xmas present. Used best buy certificates and got it really cheap while it was on sale. I like this because it is easy to bluetooth to your phone and keeps track of steps all day. Even gives you a weekly update on how you are doing. It was super easy to set up the account and sync with my smartphone.

This was a gift and I like it. It is nice because I didn't want one to wear on my wrist since I have a collection of Fine watches. However this tracks your steps and allows you to chart it with Bluetooth on the app if you like. Which was my biggest reason for using it.

I love my fitbit! It tracks my steps, lets me know the time and makes faces at me. I didn't realize how fun I would find the faces. It automatically uploads information to my account when I'm close enough to my computer and sends me weekly progress reports.

My husband and I both have one of these trackers. My zip recently was not working correctly and i thought i should upgrade and get something bigger and better. I did and after 24 hrs i was returning it. I do not like having to wear something on my wrist constantly. Also it clashes with my nice jewelry. I do wish that it had the sleep tracker, but honestly, I know when i didn't get enough sleep and i don't need a tracker to tell me so. Also i really love that i do not have to charge this ever. A watch battery is cheap and goes for months. Also the Dollar Store has batteries for a buck if you don't want to spend three. Although i wish it did a few other things, not charging it and not having it on my wrist is most important. We recommend!!!

Not very accurate, clipped to my bra or pocket

I've had my Zip for over a month now. It's a toss-up if it will record steps each day. The syncing is all over the place-- with the unit sometimes subtracting steps. I think this purchase was a waste of money.

Love this tracker! I work with my hands, so wrist-type trackers always counted steps when there were none. This one I clip to my pocket or shirt and it is more accurate than a wrist tracker.

I purchased the two pack. I love the clip for the pants but the fitbit can easily get flicked off. One fitbit broke the second it hit the floor and the second one needed to have the battery replaced before I expected it to run out. It is great to keep you on track so may be worth the $. Going to try the wrist band one next.

So far, this device has helped me to lose 5 pounds. It motivates me to walk more throughout the day. Now that I have it, my average amount of miles walked in a day is 10!! Before it was probably 3.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my wife. She uses it every day for running and general activity tracking. She has had no issues with it and it functions exactly as described.

I use this for counting steps and it's great! It's small, so I can wear it without anyone noticing I have it on. I've also downloaded the free iPhone app to use with it.

    Faulty

Firstly, this item does not count calories correctly, In addition,I would have been better off remembering that 10,000 steps is 5 miles and just register my progress at the gym and guestimate the rest. This device measures steps but does not record my progress on the bike or even doing a step in place walking program (Leslie Samson) at home. So inaccurate and way too pricey.
