Does what it is designed to do well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this originally as a small, low-power home server that I would not feel bad about leaving on 24-7 while I downloaded and shared files on peer-to-peer programs, etc. With its relatively spacious hard drive and adequate processor power, it has served well in this function. It can only handle up to 480i Youtube videos smoothly so if you want a high-def netbook this one is not for you. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Great Value for What You Get
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this netbook to replace a previous one that was destroyed in a move using the in store pickup option (it was REALLY quick to pick up too!). I love the larger hard drive space, the multi-gesture touchpad and the overall styling of the LT2104u. Additionally, the keyboard for this series is better than the previous LT model I owned and the screen is vibrant and easy to view. As mentioned in other reviews, the ability to tilt the screen back to nearly 180 degrees is a plus. Even the speakers are better! I found this netbook to be very easy to set up (I'm networking a Mac and All-in-one printer via wireless router) and though it took some getting used to, I'm finding Windows 7 to be a great environment to work in after all. A note about Windows 7 Starter: This OS will give you the bare minimum with respect to customization of your computer. In order to do things like change your background you have to upgrade to one of the other versions of Windows 7. Fortunately, I was able to purchase and download a discounted copy of Windows 7 Professional (Google Microsoft Ultimate Steal - you get a 91%discount if you have a valid college email address!). If you don't care about being able to network your computer, change your background or other setting, then Win 7 Starter is fine for you. For everyone else, get the upgrade and you're good to go.

Great Purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OUt of the box it is very easy to set up. It's got a great processor, so itt's fast and pages load quickly on the net. I use a wireless router at home and use wi-fi at work. This is great for students and people who want to use a word processor and surf the net. Not for those who want a multi-tasking workhorse. Streams music and video pretty well.

Handy little PC
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this Netbook! I hate to lug around my 17 inch laptop for quick meeetings where I need to stay connected and was looking for something lightweight, and extremely portable. This Gateway fit the bill! It weighs next to nothing, starts up quickly and has a great display. My only frustration is the small keyboard but with a PC this small, I knew that going in. Touch typists might struggle until they get accustomed to it.

Great Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop for school and it is great. I love the battery life. I can be running Microsoft Powerpoint and have internet explorer open and the battery will last 7-8 hours. It also starts up within 20 seconds of pressing the power button. The netbook also does not get warm when being used as others that I have owned have. For the price, I think its the best netbook to buy.

Great Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this a couple of months ago and it has been a great machine. Set up was easy and navigating around Windows 7 was also a breeze. Battery life exceeds any previous laptops I have owned. Great for internet surfing. The sound is a little weak and requires earphones unless you are in an absolutely silent enviroment.

Nice!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.VERY convenient size and weight and battery life is almost 7 hours! I own a separate full size laptop, but find it too big to take to meetings, etc. It is fast and runs all my applications. The only shortcoming is the 10.5" screen size. On my Face-book gaming page, I have to scroll up and down as the entire page does not fit. But for the purpose, it is great! I would not want it for my only computer, but for traveling, a student for classes or for a meeting notes computer, it is great!

So far so good!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is really fast and only has 1 GB. The picture is perfect, the sound is not that loud, but that it's fine if you don't need a loud sound. This notebook run faster than my other notebook HP 2 GB. I highly recommend this to anybody that need it for internet, skype, etc.

Nice for a grad.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for my daughter. She had been on thing every since I gave it to her. She used my old 15 inch lap top and was surprised how fast it was. She is leaving for college and said the only thing better than this would have been a new car. Typical specs but at the time was $20 cheaper than the other brands.

Great for a spare or for travel
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This netbook is a great little guy. It has served it's purpose of being more portable than my normal laptop. With that being said, the screen is really small and I personally have a hard time concentrating on what I'm doing because it's harder to see. I have used it the most for webcaming my husband while he's on the road and for basic web browsing.

OK for surfing, but sloooow for everything else
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I realize netbooks are inherently limited in resources and processor muscle, but this netbook is still pretty slow. I upgraded the RAM to 2GB, but it didn't make much difference in even the lightest multi-tasking. I know this machine isn't made to play WOW and edit HD video at the same time, but I'd like it to open a web browser and Open Office without going into a coma. Of course, I use this mainly for its intended purpose (surfing the web) most of the time, so I'm not going to complain too much. I'll just mumble profanities under my breath when necessary. I do like the looks and style of the netbook. It matches my full size laptop perfectly; plus, it doesn't look kinda fruity like the Toshiba I bought and returned. Its also proved to be reliable and resistant to some mild abuse. Overall, I'd recommend it- just don't expect to win any computer races with it.

Fair
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the book thinking it would be great as a travel writer, that statement requires that the "NET" part of "NETbook" be functional. The wifi device would not work even after installing win7 home Pre on it and upgrading it to 2g of ram. I went to Gateway to download the drivers and ended up getting lost in their site, it was poorly designed. I eventually found the drivers on the manufatures site which was the same version WinUpdate installed on my system. It still failed to work. I am in the process of returning this product now and either exchanging or getting a whole new model of netbook.

Good Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my daughter as a replacement for a laptop, overall it's a good value with the 450 processor. I upgraded the memory to 2GB, which seems to boost the performance. I would give it 5 stars for performance & display if the 2GB was standard and it had a slightly better/faster video chip

Great travel companion
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This isn't an everyday computer but we travel a lot and this beats packing around our larger laptop and risking damage or theft. Very handy, can watch downloaded movies on the plane, mostly use for accessing the net.

Lightweight and portable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro: I wanted a lightweight, portable computer, and this delivers. Con: The outer surface of the case and around the screen shows fingerprints easily (ick). The delicate white lettering on the black keys is impossible to see in low light situations.

touchpad drives me nuts
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While the computer itself is fine and does what I need it to do, the touchpad is driving me nuts! It is to the point where I am ready to sell this unit and get something else. There is no way to adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad, and for some reason I keep finding the cursor jumping around the screen, opening pages I don't want open, typing in the middle of what I already typed or putting emoticons in where I don't want them. Plus the keyboard is too flat, making it that much harder for a touch typist to tell exactly where your fingers are. Everything else is fine. But this is a dealbreaker for me and I am going to switch to something else.

Great Product with high VFM
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Product as suggested by many others. The two things that I realized only after using it (and worth sharing); 1 - The touch pad has got multi-getsture. I never expected this basic machine to have this feature. I was delighted when I discovered this. 2 - The two buttons of the touch-pad are right on the very edge of the laptop. And its where from most of us handle the notebooks. This results in unintentional clicks. Rest is great!

Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first bought it I upgraded to RAM, had a little trouble with the brand of RAM, brought it back to Best But the next day they put in a different brand and boom has worked like a charm ever since.
